I'm honestly okay with Makoto not weilding multiple weapon types if the game is balanced around it. in p3fes you could choose what weapon type you wanted but all of them had good and bad things about them, like how bows miss a lot, or 2h swords almost always knock you down if you miss. Honestly only having the 1h sword is fine since its the safest weapon type in the game. And considering how many persona abilities are gonna be in the game, weapons arent gonna be as much of an aspect in the combat. I feel like the way personas work in this game are atlus experimenting with game mechanics they want to go with in Persona 6.

True that. If I’m not continuously killed by sleeping table, it’s not Persona 3. According to interviews they said they wanted to try and keep the roughness (difficulty?) so hopefully things have been balanced. We know the STREGA fights are more difficult at least.

@@ma.2089the full moon boss they shown was pretty beefy especially in comparison to the P3/FES/Portable version. Only time will tell if all of them are going to be amped in challenge to freshen up the difficulty.

Honestly this is looking to be THE BEST version of Persona 3. I know people are bummed that The Answer and FeMC aren't in there but as someone studying Game Design, I can understand that it's just out of scope for a ground up remake with such a short development time. Honestly just give me the best version of The Journey. If you can't do that, nobody's gonna care if it has The Answer or FeMC. Get the core right, then we can talk about the side stuff

Couldn't agree more. I honestly didn't enjoy The Answer so I am not affected by its exclusion. That said, I'm always down for FeMC but understand the core narrative of Persona 3 is really the highlight of the game for me, and for what it looks like, they are nailing the core Persona 3 experience

I personally like that they kept the one weapon for the protagonist thing from p3p, it makes it so he doesn’t seem too overpowered and it gives you more of a reason to strategize with using your other party members’ weapons.

It's called having options. There's no reason as to why they had to remove all weapon access from MC (besides having to make more animations, which they could easily borrow from others that use said weapon types). I'm sure Shinji is going to benefit a lot from Mjolni- oh wait that's right.

Being a wild card already makes him the best character. Giving him access to other weapons doesn’t make him any more broken. Why not make the same claim that him having multiple personas removes the strategy of having other part members at all.

It was just really fun to mess with the weapon types, fusion and animations, they all felt different and in P3 we don't have curse or psychic instead we have pierce and slash, I do really find it weird to see removing a fun feature as a positive thing

Great question, and my advice is to continue playing P3P on the Switch and then pick up Reload for the core P3 narrative. There will be enough embellishments and additions that will make Reload feel new and fresh again

"More in line with Persona 5" Just rubs me the wrong way. I sincerely hope P3R doesn't stray too far from the source material. The social stat carryover is cool, but it'll mean little in terms of replayability if the game makes you rebuild them in a NG+. It is nice to see that Battle Characteristics are being added to give teammates more utility (Junpei is getting Apt Pupil with a damage buff, Yukari is getting a Recovery-limited Spell Master). Hard to say how it will affect the overall experience, so I hope they'll tell us more with the coming trailers.

It most definitely is. This game is only on UE4 so imagine how good Persona 6 will look. On top of that, the devs specifically stated that they wanted to make the jump to 6 from 5 greater than the jump from 4 to 5. We still have until 2025 at the _very least_ until the game is released. The hype will be absolutely absurd.

It strips away an element of roleplay, which sucks for a silent protagonist. I hate it. However, if they screw the party AI and make it shit like it was in P4 and P4 Golden, then this truly will have worse combat than the original.

@@icedteatoni That's more like a crutch than a solution to bad party AI. In Persona 3, the dynamic was shifted. Every character makes their own decisions during combat, and you are more like an advisor than a dictator. It's one of the things Persona 3 did that sets its combat above Persona 4, and even above Persona 5 in some regards. It added challenge and made turns committal, you couldn't change your strategy mid turn. Furthermore, with enough know how, you could make the party AI do what you wanted it to do. It just required some knowledge and practice. People who complain about Marin Karin simply didn't decide to bother with they system. Persona 4 gave direct commands, but it also fucked up the party AI so that playing the game via tactics is a chore (In fact, there is no way to make your party use buffs and debuffs via AI, which further highlights how bad the party AI was). As a result, it just didn't hit like Persona 3. It's less tactical. This in no way makes Persona 4 bad, but it's still inherently less compelling to play than Persona 3.

If they ever do add it, it'll take a lot of work. They have to change the male party S Links, create new assets like Yasogami High and the FeMC exclusive characters etc. Still, keep hope and keep asking. This is definitely wild for me. Persona 3 is my favorite Persona game in the franchise. This game is also coming out right on my birthday. February 2nd. That is some absurd luck to me. But on the other hand, I'm frustrated by the fact that Atlus continues on with the usual Atlus practices. First day DLC. While also purposely taking out the FEMC and FES. I was looking forward to a Definitive edition to this game. Combining all of the games that we had, and just slam them together. That way, newcomers will be introduced to a more modern version of the game. Containing all of the content frok the past. But of course that didn't happen. They did this so tha they can continue doing the same thing that they've been doing for years now. Release the game, then re-release an update version of it. With a new story attached. If they wanted to be extra scummy however, they could re-release the game. Make FES and FEMC DLC, and just add more DLC content that you can buy with it. Keep in mind that this is already an expensive game. Its one of the games that are 70 dollars. These are the practices that I am so tired of seeing from Atlus. I've seen this for years, and it has never STOPPED. We cant even do anything because it's a major release based on a major game. So theres literally nothing we can do about it.

I understand not adding femc considering the amount of rework needed but yeah Fes content even the answer was weird to not include. It sucks since Atlus makes some amazing games that I don't mind putting out some money(Hell I preorded the $200 version) for but these business practices make it hard to support them and worry me about how bad this will get for future games. I feel the answer will be added dlc as extra story content is typical dlc similar to how it seems in p5t Akechi and Violet will have thier own story mission as dlc.

They had enough time making an entire game from scratch, making DLC on day one, and they're always happy to remake the same game if they felt like it. Now for those who wants to have the definitive experience, they're gonna have to play 3 separate versions of Persona 3. This includes FES, Reload, and Portable. The worse part is, this isn't even Atlus's first time doing this. This is very common for them. They've done this with the SMT games, like 4, Apocalypse, 5, etc. They did this with Soul Hackers 2, a game that failed. (Which is probably the worse case of how they handle the games) and more. The amount of anti-consumer decisions that Atlus has made is just mind blowing.

@@JustKurusu the work needed for femc is quite large for minimal benefit. why do you think none of the 3d overworld persona games have a femc? if it was so easy, they'd have already done it in p4 or p5 but redoing the UI, graphics and cutscenes for each protagonist is more time consuming than you think. i'd rather they focus on putting maximum detail into the canon route instead of spreading themselves thin on a non-canon what-if scenario. Also let's be honest, Reload is going to make FES completely outdated. There's a fair chance Reload will get the Answer DLC at some point but even if they don't, most people watch the Answer cutscenes online anyway cuz the gameplay is trash

The only day-one DLC I am okay with is cosmetics or just extra stuff, not stuff that is integral to the story.

They definitely have more than enough money with the many times they've practically handled their fans. I simply hate the fact that this is once again, not the definitive version of the game. Also, Persona 3 Reload will most likely not receive DLC beyond the first day DLC that they've presented with. I'm basing this off of the many DLC that they have for the past Atlus games. The major problem I have with all of this is the fact that they can just take Reload, re-release the same game but updated. Then have it include all the content that was released in prior content. Or if they wanted to be VERY scummy, they can just place all the past content into DLC. Why add FES and FEMC as DLC we they can just re-release the game and sell it at full price like they've always done?

Still skeptical with the game. . After experiencing p5, tartaus is gonna suck so bad. Atlus better add dungeons leading up to the fullmoon bosses. For example, we dont immediately start inside the train, but instead navigate a distorted version of the whole train station, etc.

The games are kind of designed with that in mind though. Which is why they locked uber bosses behind the second playthrough in FES. Adding all these extra things that most likely take up time in the day of the game, means they fully intended for people to play it a second time to see EVERYTHING in one run because you don't have to spend time building up your social stats.
