Heading into and out of Maki's reality, seeing both sides of her, trying to learn more about what's going on - and having to deal with school life and getting to know your companions - that sounds amazing. They might need to pull in some of the more fleshed out characterizations from the manga for a couple of them (protag-kun), but otherwise all the materials are there. They'd just need to be willing to change some stuff, add other stuff, and give the story the development it deserves.

Persona 1 & 2 getting any kind of port, or remaster is a win in my book. I feel it's very important for these games to be preserved as best as possible as they're all but forgotten. I'm all for these games getting the remake treatment some day, but these games were so different to what modern Persona games are. As dated as they may be by today's standards, it's important to keep those roots intact as these games aren't the most available to play.

What made the original release of Persona 3 in 2006 so unique and innovative was how different it was compared to its predecessors: P1 and P2 games which were more in tune with the mainline SMT series. I would prefer that if there is a re-release of the Persona 2 games in the works, that they keep the core game mechanics and proper translations of P2 with updated graphics and soundtrack

seeing as persona today is praised for its stunning visuals I'm confident that a facelift alone will make current fans more willing to experience 2's story. that said, at this point I don't care how they reintroduce 2 as long as it's getting acknowledged at all. and I hope they don't try too hard to reel in fans of the new games, but rather aim to make existing P2 fans enjoy it's story and characters in a new package

I am not surprised persona 2 is just getting a remaster, they dont fully trust those games. They are quite good and the combination of persona 2's stories make it such a satisfying story; however they would benefit alot by fixing the combat to make it better and also they could try to give slight buffs to the party members that lack a bit of strength. Also they could have tried adding some extra optional stuff that could have added some extra bits of character interactions (specially for the last party member who spends less time in the party). I do hope the new translations dont remove any of the good parts of the game, the animations are quite good but if they guve the option to remove random encounters and make them overworld, and update the character portraits to give them a better hd look while keeping the high amount of charm they had it wouldnt need to get a full remake (also if the game does great they will do a full remake cause they can)

Wait, they didn't add the option to play a female char in the P3 remake/remaster that came out recently? This is the first time I'd heard that, not that I've kept up with the news incredibly closely. How can they make such a stupidly obvious mistake or oversight? Do they not remember the fanfare there was when P3Portable included a female protagonist? Because I certainly do. I don't know how much of it was their OWN marketing, I at least don't think it was mostly that, or at least it sort of dispersed by time it trickled down to me hearing about it. I literally didn't know a single dude that played Persona 3. Or any of the Persona games. At least none I recall. Not until much later, anyway. But you know who def, absolutely DID play the game, and made damn sure to geek out over it obsessively? SEVERAL girls I went to school with. Not only friends, but girls I didn't even know, I'd just walk by and hear them fangirling and geeking out over it. Granted this is just my personal experience and may be anomalous and outside of the statistical avg, I wouldn't know. But at least from my experience, which is all I have to go off of obv.. It seemed like there were even slightly more chicks that had and played P3, than there ever were chicks who played Pokemon. Just slightly, but it seemed like it was still higher. But that's REALLY saying something. They really hit it out of the park by making a game that was "inclusive" in the sense of letting women play a char that they felt represented themselves, which for some reason wasn't and still isn't the norm. And the story was at least moderately mature. They didn't talk down to their audience intellectually. I kinda viewed it almost like a smaller version of that whole Twilight fan wave tbh. Chicks found something they really clung onto and enjoyed. So ofc, when they remake the games, fans are going to feel betrayed. Granted it's an oversimplification.. To the fanbase, they view it as, you gave them something, only to take it away.

The game is fundamentally broken. There is nothing you can do to make SMT V good. Horrible pacing, every boss comes down to levels and not team composition. The world is lifeless and bland. Music is atrocious compared to other entries in the series. Sure, SMT Final is bad, but the music was still banging the entire game and has some of my favorite tracks, honestly. The Nahobino is just a lifeless clone of the demifiend concept. The alignments all feel devoid of any sort of complexity. Finally, you get 2 dungeons. 2!!. The rest is exploring the lifeless attempt at the Vortex World. Long story short, this game is a disgrace to SMT and should be banished to the shadow realm

Persona 1 should be a remake and both 2 games should be remasters. If you want Atlas's first try at mechanics go get p1 for psp, but both p2s were an improvement on the three games styles so in order to preserve that slightly better yet nostalgic system they should be remasters

P1 & P2 should get remasteres and Remakes. The Remaster is for those who want the enjoy the orginal games on modern platforms. The Remakes should take the stories keep them as faithful as possible to the orginals but rewrite them that they are like modern Persona games. This way we gain the most. I wished they would have remastered P3FES too I enjoyed it much more than the Reload version even though it is very very good game.

there are a couple of big things that modernsona does that would not mesh with 1 and 2 like the calender system being a massive one as the stories last chronolgically like a few days...a week. social links could be reintergrated as side quests but thing is these games were already remastered and very rarely did it justice

if those reports about the "FES" DLC is true, I'll be happy, but if not, I would not be surprised cause ATLUS, has never made games with upcoming DLCs announcing later (At least to my knowledge). You would think they would have done this a couple of their games back a while ago with a few waves of DLCs on either Persona 5 Royal , Soul Hackers 2 or on SMT 5 with different upcoming DLCs to bring both Persona Fans and SMT fans back to the game with a different experience. Especially with SMT 5, that would have been a perfect opportunity for ATLUS to have different upcoming DLCs to make the game have new experiences, different bosses and/or demons that relate to other SMT games (a missed opportunity to have things referring to SMT 1, 2, 4 and apocalypse) then again, it wouldn't surprise me cause ATLUS has aways put all of their DLCs on one of their games available day 1 (on the release date of said game) and that's it, no more DLCs for that game.

Also really love the story of the Persona 2 duology, and how lore-heavy it is. Seeing the Joker plot twist from Innocent Sin in high def would be sublime and hit hard, and who in this day and age could say no to Maya pushing the parties and the world towards a brighter future? I think that's something we need right now.

Yeah P1 and P2 never had a social sim aspect and the main character is very different from 3,4&5 i.e. they actually have dialogue 🤣 and there’s no ‘fool’ or arcana system!! The personas functioned more like FF summons, and there was no “1 more” system, etc!! They were more SMT then “Persona” but it’d still be sick if they got 3D updates and voiced dialogue instead of just a remaster! I feel like a “reload” treatment but keeping its original core gameplay would make it not only accessible but also appealing to the wider audience!! Because unless you’re a hardcore persona fan, I doubt you’ve even played 1 and/or 2! The entry point of most persona fans is probably 3 (age being a variable to entry point as well) So i graphical 3D update would do wonders for 1&2!! Maybe the SMT/Persona community could push Atlus for a “reload” AND upgraded translation treatment! And it’d definitely be worth the extra wait!!!

i think its only graphical upgrades at most. p4 will get the reload treatment meaning a remake. p1&2 will get the remaster treatment first if popular enough they may get remakes. If 4 gets remade, I honestly really hope that the dungeons get remade in more of a P5 Palace style. They are supposed to be unique to each character and what not, so it is much more in line with how P5 did things, as opposed to Tartarus. That said New Tartarus does feel new and more open and overall way better for me. So if they were to give the dungeons that kind of treatment, I suppose it would be okay, but I would like for them to be more fleshed out. Other than that, I would most be looking forward to the new music/remixes they do. (I'd also hope that they remake Golden as opposed to the original game, because why not)

I know P3 would be similar in the regard since P3P and P4G both got ported to consoles at the same time. But I personally didn't play P3P again just because i was hoping the leaks for a remake were true, and they were. I did replay Golden though, twice in fact cause I didn't think it would get a remake at all in the coming years. So i'd be a little more hesitant to rebuy the game at full price if there wasn't somewhat big changes like the dungeons and stuff.

I think it's cool they're remaking P1 and P2. I think it just depends on what they mean by remaster. Since reload is technically a remaster/remake, so that could just be what they plan to do with the older games. It will most likely be like reload keeping the same story but changing the gameplay aspects so it'll play better. P4 honestly doesn’t need a remake, since golden is already the best version of that game. I would like them to add a femc route in reload, but at least we could get a remake of the answer in dlc. I love both protags, but Makoto's timeline does seem to be main one.

If they were to give Persona 4 the reload treatment I could see them doing like what they did with this tell the main story and then add Marie in later in the story to where it would more make sense. All I can say is I hope if they do it bring back as much of the original voice cast, because no offense I couldn't see anyone else doing the voices to these characters that's just my opinion, Johnny Young Bosh IS Yuu Narukami, Laura Bailey IS Rise,. They fit these characters to a T. Plus seeing the anime style cutscenes with the new graphics would be fun.

While a full remake of Persona 2 would be a dream, a remaster seems far more likely & feasible given that P2 is largely forgotten. That being said, I would still welcome it! I loved both Innocent Sin and Eternal Punishment and both being re-released with some much needed polish would still be pretty generous for its fans, I think.

as a huge fan of the persona 2 duology I actually feel like it's kind of a relief that they're not going to try to remake the games entirely. it'd be interesting to see how a remake might incorporate a calendar system and social links, but I can't picture how it could be done well. some quality of life improvements would not come amiss, but I'm okay with a remaster rather than a remake! I'd love to see ppl pay more attention to eternal punishment especially, since it never got a psp remaster in the US. I'm also hoping that atlus doesn't backtrack on the possibly romantic nature of Tatsuya and Jun's relationship... I only have this fear at all bc atlus has demonstrated a real problem with narrative homophobia in the "new" (as opposed to 1 and 2 lol) games.

If the they were to add the female protag from persona 3 p, it would merit another playthrough of the game. It would be very expensive to implement, but I think it’s worth it. Namely because she is worth a replay. And they don’t necessarily have to add all of the new social links, just make the male SEES members have links, and give the female links the hangout treatment. Personally, I would like a harder difficulty mode. Merciless just doesn’t do it for me. Once you get theurgies, you can blitz through tartarus easily. And I don’t feel as challenged as in FES. Now of course that’s because of the lack of fatigue and AI party, but SMT III is plenty hard without those mechanics. Even if it just inflates the stats or halves xp, I’d really like a tougher mode

Personally as someone who has struggled getting into p3p and struggled a little with p4g having started with p5... I am enjoying the updated but not p5 in another skin of p3r as it kind of still feels "old" compared to some aspects of p5s (especially social links not doing much in p3r) but is completely accessible from a p5 players perspective.

I'm not surprised about the success of Persona's game. The main reason they didn't sold well back in the days, in PS2 (on PS1 it was pretty obscure back then), is that.. the game were totally in English. The only game that was fully translated (and I might be wrong), was Lucifer Call or Digital Devil Saga.. and they werent super well received :/ So the "popularity" of those game, were stale outside of the USA and Japan. I am glad that thank's to the localization of those game, more and more people are giving them a chance and being mindblown.

Concerning Persona 1 and 2, I think we should get both a remaster and a remake. While I understand that this would be a massive undertaking, I myself getting into the world of game making and slowly starting to see how difficult and time consuming it can be, The company is soaring and the prospect sounds doable. We already have the games as they were released they are already available to the west. Honestly they could get away with just porting the originals over to newer consoles like they did for Persona 3 Portable and Persona 4 Golden and we would all be grateful for that. As for a remake yeah it would be different, they often are and will force older fans of the series to adapt to something new, but if they really don't like them the remasters would be available. I don't mean to offend. I have an appreciation for the originals myself but I would still like to play a much more fleshed out version with more world building and characters that I could care more about.

I got into Persona via 3 so I'm curious how the originals were. I wouldn't mind a remake or a crossover with the modern cast/plots would be cool. I dislike the re-release/spinoff strategy, so I would've preffered sequels like Arena and Strikers over Q/Royal/golden/FES's approach. So I'm not sure what to make of 4's potential remake. P6 getting announced would be a plus.
