Of course its scary. Worse is that it might give a bigger headache to the Persona users, more so for the past generations, since some of their battles cost their loved ones. Those actions equals to self destruction of humanity, despite being a man-made cause unlike the past entities. The Maruki arc and EMMA incident kind of justify Jose's statements of more beings watching over humankind, and 'they' can't left humans be. The 'they' Jose refers to seems to direct the Velvet Room residents, mostly the attendants and surviving Wild Cards. It also solidify the resolve of the past generations that the battle against oneself is still ongoing. It seem to be the pattern of the new generation battles, including canon spin offs is to ensure that the past teams battles and efforts, despite different times, settings and themes don't go in vain. Royal kind of gives a clear answer and meaning behind those efforts, if butterfly effects and chain reactions comes in mind. Even the cross generations like Arena and Q that the different teams respect each other; Mitsuru learns that the Inaba Investigation Team put an end to the Shadow Fog, Yu learns of more Wild Cards like Aigis and Makoto.

Konoe does have a point, the vigilante justice of the phantom thieves, for how good it may be, cannot save everyone, nor is it a reliable and efficent system. Konoe's idea of a systemic "cleanse" of corruption from people's hearts is a good idea, but it's also extremely exploitable by less than well-intentioned individuals, and Konoe's approach to it all is downright tyrannical.

You know the song of the Depths of Mementos, the last palace of the original Persona 5? It’s title is Freedom and Security. It posits those two ideas as antithetical to each other. A world with complete Freedom is not secure, and a world with complete security is not free. To be entirely in one area, one must give up a little of the other. Beings like Yaldabaoth, and people like Akira (and the Royal final boss), want a world that is fully secure, with no troubles. But to demand this out of people requires giving up their freedom. So the question isn’t truly “is he right?” But rather, “is his end goal worth the freedom that you give up?” It’s an interesting question! Persona 5 seems to think that freedom is too important to give up.

The more I see the Persona games, its more like every generation have to fight against an aspect of humanity's self destructive desires. In a sense, facing against humanity's collective sins as a whole. Nyx is a different case as it dosen't need humanity's collective desires of self destruction to exist. What Makoto did is to block off the true enemy from awakening Nyx. However, those Shadow battles are inevitable until humanity change their mind/way of thinking, which is a formidable task.

When you think about it, Akira's not really wrong when he considers him and the phantom thieves alike. The jail kings all have suffered through trauma and decided to take justice into their own hands so basically they're sort of like a twisted version of the PT's, it helps that the game deliberately draws parallels between them. Akira is quite tragic fallen heroes who suffer the same as Phantom Thieves and Sae by trying his best to help people who suffered from evil alone. He finally accepts defeat with dignity, honour and grace and trusts them to confess all his crimes and cooperate with law enforcement to testify against Jun Owada for his crime as backing testimony despite being arrest with different crimes.

So Akira on the inside is still a scared little boy afraid of the consequences of his actions so he justifies them by being a "hero who brings true justice" to cover up his wrongdoing. I know it was in self-defense but parricide is parricide and he ran away instead of facing it. ADDTIONAL CHARACTER ANALYSIS: Akira is both Suzaku and his own Lelouch in the Code Geass anime. He attempts to change the system from within and creates his own saving grace and reasoning. The difference is, Lelouch knows that what he's doing is bad and doesn't gloss over that fact. That is the reason Lelouch wins and Akira does not. Oh, and Lelouch advocates a free thinking humanity. 😆

You know, I feel like the arresting calling card idea was a good call. The man calls himself a hero, yet he has done so much wrong, even corrupting people through the power of Jails and eliminating others out of cold blood, among possibly many other things. And he's getting called out for the criminal that he is, by the people he branded as criminals himself. In a way, it's poetic justice, as the "hero" is getting arrested by the "criminals". I like it.

From their description after the scene, I don't think they truly steal the blimp, but more like simply utilizing it to their advantage. Zenkichi probably used his status either to get in or to gain access long enough so Morgana can sneak in, attaching the device, and sneak out. That's why Futaba thanked them after the calling card scene.
