Nikki I am so proud of following someone like you who is not afraid of saying her opinions out aloud without sugarcoating them. As an influencer I know one would want to be largely accepted but the way you spoke about tattoos is just so correct. I wish more Christians can speak what they stand for without the fear of not being accepted or understood. Thank you.

I have been so, so saddened to see the popularity of tattoos in our culture. In part, I see it as a way culture is pulling women into a more masculine or androgynous look. Right from when my daughters were very young, I gave them a very strong opinion on tattoos. Just as with tube tops and short shorts....they are not for ladies. ♥️🇨🇦

Gentle reminder that some with tattoos got them prior to coming to Christ. I don't have any but I've known several that do and some of them got one or ten early in life and are stuck with them.

Completely understand what you mean about tattoos. I happen to love tattoos in general, but only have 1. It's on my wrist and is easily covered by my watch. I have several friends who have beautiful artwork on their skin, but they do have to take them into consideration each time they get dressed for an occasion. Also, from a professional standpoint, I have witnessed fully capable people turned down for a job in favor of an equally capable person simply based on tattoos. Obviously, it comes down to personal decisions, but I believe these factors should be heavily considered.

I got a tattoo at 49 in honor of my late son. I shouldn’t have done that but grief made me crazy. It’s pretty big and on my arm but hidden with a short sleeve so it’s not problematic for everyday or professional life.

If you burn easily consider looking at your diet. As a redhead who used to burn easily, I eliminated all vegetable/seed oils from my diet and now I can go outside, without sunscreen, for hours without burning.

Yes!!! Also lots of DIY recipes for sunscreen so you're not putting all those harmful chemicals on your skin. It sounds whackadoodle to the uninformed, but you are correct about diet and the sunscreen you buy in stores really can cause problems.

I appreciate your opinion about tattoos. I too have the same opinion.. although I have several large tattoos that I got as a very young lady. I wouldn't say they have limited me in life because they're mostly hidden. I do however advise my children against them. I wish I would have had a mother to advise me as a young lady. I'm trying to use them for good though and explain to my children why I would have made a different choice now. I think you're doing a great thing giving young women all this helpful information.

I really appreciate you sharing this with us. I’ve come in contact with so many women who regret this decision and it’s true, they could be used for good. Much like someone who did anything they regretted in the past. Most of us want better for our children so we try to give the best advice possible even if we made other decisions for ourselves. Thank you for your encouraging words🌹

Hello dear Nikki. I just wanted to say, Thank you for broaching these subjects, both the topic of personal hygiene and tattoos. As I am raising a young daughter it is so nice to see someone else discussing these things (that many others won’t) It really is so helpful to have someone else speak those things out loud. As an artist I had been asked by a family member to make a drawing for a tattoo and I had to respectfully decline as I felt uneasy about it. This was when I was aged in my 20’s. Now that I am in my 30’s I am glad I did not do that for them even though they really wanted me to, as I would have regretted it. I am also glad I did not give in to the pressure to get any myself, as the desire did cross my mind from time to time as it is extremely common in the community I live in especially being a creative person. I have often felt much of the art I see around is either ugly, or executed beautifully and yet still lacking somehow. I can see now that the difference between what I perceive as lovely art and the not so lovely comes down to whether it glorifies God or man. I do not often think the artist is considering this but it is the nature of man. This applies to your reasoning on tattoos as well, as I see you referenced in one of your replies earlier. Thank you for being salt and light Dear Nikki xxx

Thank you, Charlotte! I’m glad you enjoyed the discussion on these subjects. It was very interesting to learn about the struggle you went through when asked to create for a tattoo. What you said about “lacking somehow” was quite profound. Thank you so much for opening up about this and especially that you are trying to guide your daughter in these areas🌹

I heard a medical podcast that a Dr was discussing when something foreign gets into our bodies our immune system begins to work overtime to clear that foreign substance out of our system. So, it causes inflammation and puts stress on our bodies. He said this is why the ink in tattoos begin to feather and in some actually goes away. Researchers are seeing a link in some people who have many tattoos and inflammation along with difficulty fighting disease. These were all preliminary studies, but there does seem to be a factor in some people. I never even considered a medical issue being caused by tattoos. I do not have any tattoos and have many friends who do have them. I think the biggest deterrent is that they never look nice years down the track. For me, I asked myself if I wanted to look at that ink on my skin when I’m 80? My answer was no. Not that I would have really wanted to get one, but all my friends seemed to be getting them, and still getting them, and I wanted to give a nonjudgmental answer for myself. The possible medical complications and the noncommittal feeling of wanting a lifetime with one was my explanation to my friends who were encouraging me to join them. Still loving this series! Thank you for all your hard work!

Hello Nikki! I totally agree with you regarding tattoos and that being said as a person who has two. I had always hated tattoos but found myself on the other side of double mastectomies from breast cancer and changed my mind in getting them for my own individual story. I was belittled and told that no one would ever want to see me or that part of me again. This came from one of my best friends and my closest relatve. I tried to let it go but after 2 years I felt just as bad about myself and decided to try to use tattoos to give the illusion of breast areas that were no longer there. It was very painful to do and I regretted it as it was being done. At least they are not anywhere where would publicly be seen. I still do not like them and would never had done mine if it wasn't for the trusted people who treated me that way. Sorry for my pity party. I still agree with you. It's so unladylike and I'll never get any more.

I also had one due to the same thing six years ago. Knowing what I do now, I wish I would've gone a different route but oh well. They're gone now and that's that. I thought about getting *those* tattooed on but ultimately decided it wasn't necessary. No one but myself and my husband would ever see them, they'd fade anyway, and (to be a bit TMI) they would've either been far too large to meet up with the scars or I would've had a scar halo around them so they would've looked stupid. I remember looking through pictures while debating the choice, however. They mostly looked really good but for the reasons I listed, I opted not to get them. Sometimes I think about it, wondering if maybe I should've. I still could if I really wanted to, I suppose. You're the first person since that time in my life I've heard talk about this. (((HUGS))) Thank you for using your voice. Edit: btw, my husband was on board with my decisions then and still is now. I am so blessed ❤

You have such great advice. I’m also glad that you say things that may not be popular. I remember reading an actress who was raising her teenage daughter who also wanted to be an actress. The daughter was considering getting either multiple ear piercings or it may have been getting a tatoo. I can't remember for sure, but she was telling her daughter if she wanted to do period drama like herself, she shouldn't get one because obviously anything of the kind would limit her chances in the acting business in that particular genre. In other words, think before you act. Because what you do to your body today can play a large factor in your future.❤

Hi Nikki, thank you for all the work you have put into making this month so special for all of us. A video every day, and you have almost finished the whole month! I used to want a tattoo until I came across the verse in the Bible where it says not to do that (in the book of Leviticus) so I never got one. Now, being several decades older, I am glad not to have any. There are people I dearly love, though, who have enough for both of us! :)

It’s my pleasure! It’s so nice to know all the work is appreciated and received so well by ladies such as yourself. That was a very convicting verse, wasn’t it? One has to ask themselves why they desire such a thing. What are they trying to draw attention to? I believe with study and the right heart, God makes our paths clear. Does what we are doing in or to our body bring glory to God or self?

Amen to the hair! I had very thick, very long, straight hair. After "targeted therapy" and a LOT of stress, I still have long, straight hair but it's half as thick as it used to be. I get so sick of people (usually with wavy or curly hair) trying to insist that I should do this or that and I shouldn't do x,y, and z. I, too, have tried all the things over the years. I am still looking into some of them just to cut down on how often I need to wash (to save on time) but for now, I will stick to washing daily. (And yes, I have changed my diet. Didn't make a lick of difference. It helped other things, but not my hair.) Oh, and what really grinds my gears are those who *INSIST* my hair is actually curly but I just haven't unlocked it. Hahaha NO. I had to have my hair done for a wedding I was in and was told my hair is "too healthy" to work with, whatever that means. It took two stylists to try to curl it all and at least half a can of hairspray. Two hours later it was all but flat. Glad we took pictures before the ceremony! I've tried hot rollers, regular rollers, braids, rag rolling, etc...my hair just WILL NOT hold a curl. Even when I tried following the gross rules to "unlock my curls," nothing changed except my head was miserable. I'm to a point now where I still have moments where I long for soft, wavy curls, but honestly...I've learned to just embrace what God gave me. Your hair, by the way, is beautiful, Nikki. Always looks so soft and feminine. And the shorter to medium lengths you keep suit you so well. Plus the color is simply magnificent. I've heard it said that red or reddish haired ladies should never wear pink because it'll clash but that's absurd. They need to take a look at you because I think you look best in pinks and peaches.

I love that you were being bold to say things that a lot of people might feel awkward to tackle! Breath, grooming, etc. Also hair! I always had thick wavy hair. I started prematurely graying in my 20s, and I got thin on top only by my 40s. I’m 52 now and my hair is completely Snow white. Naturally, my scalp is pink and it is still thin. But when I let it air dry with a little conditioner? It has lovely waves. I’m tired of fighting it, and I just go with it. But you are so right, thin hair you can’t go without washing. Also skin damage. I had very fair skin similar to yours, my whole life. I did not put on sunscreen on. And boy! My neck and décolleté is red, rough and damaged. The dermatologist says there’s nothing to be done. It doesn’t match my face or anything else. But, I can obsess about it or accept that it’s not as lovely. But the world is a great, beautiful place to explore that day. Vanity is very different than looking as nice as you can with the body that you have!

This is a beautiful message and I appreciate your boldness to tell your fellow sister this in love. I have several beautiful friends that have went the route of getting tattoos and it does not make them look ladylike at all. In my opinion, tattoos look dirty. I’ve never desired one and never understood the desire others have for them. Concerning hygiene, I am so shocked at how many people don’t practice proper hygiene. I work at a courthouse so deal with the public all day and I kid you not, nine out of ten people that come to my desk stink in some fashion. It’s so rare for me to get a customer that actually smells pleasant that when I do I always compliment them and tell them I appreciate it. I think that’s sad. Another thing in this life that I just don’t understand I guess. 🤷🏼‍♀️

I appreciate you sharing your thoughts on this as well! When someone has one, that's what I see, not them. People say, accept them for who they are, tattoos are never who a person is and they never will be. I always wish to turn that statement around because it would be nice if people would just accepted who they were.

Amen to the advice about tattoos. I have tattoos from my youth and I certainly regret it now that I desire a more polished look and want to raise my own daughters to fulfill their feminine potentials. Just yesterday my husband and I were talking about how unflattering the massive tattoos women are getting now is for them. On social media I saw a photoshoot of a gorgeous woman, but with her full sleeve tattoos she just had such a masculine look, it was unfortunate.

I sure hope that wasn’t the conclusion drawn as that wasn’t the point of the video nor was it what was stated.

About tatoos: So true. When I was 15, 17 or so, I LOVED that tatoo tv show with Kat Von D and the truth is that she looks gorgeous with them and the tatoos she did on others were so pretty...I wanted one. But being a christian, listening my parents and thinking about the future (job, husband, etc...) I decided not to. Today, at 35, I am SO happy that I don't have tatoos, I am a completely different person now, ladylike, woudn't like to have tatoos on my body. You are correct, Nikki. It's a permanent thing...and our heads change all of the time. I would not recommend.

Nikki, I agree with you about the tattoos. So many young and even older women are getting tattoos and believe they look good. I have seen beautiful women with these all down their arms. So sad. On a brighter note. I stopped into a coffee shop today, and had an older gentleman compliment me on my dress. He said not many women wear dresses anymore and appreciated me in mine. It was nice to hear from another man besides my husband.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts on tattoos. I totally agree. And your advice would hold true on anything someone is considering if it is going to be permanent. Styles, opinions and fashions change. And hopefully, people grow up and mature. Then what is to be done about those silly things that were done when one is young and stupid? Oh well. I don't have your tact! Lol

I’ve never really been against them- and I can respect some of the reasons people get them. That being said I agree that if you want to be perceived as “ladylike” then tattoos might not be the best choice. But many ladies also don’t care about being perceived as ladylike and that’s their prerogative. That being said- there is some research coming out about heavy metals in tattoo ink and I feel like that could be pretty toxic and dangerous- our bodies are already inundated with chemicals just from everyday life. Also- I’ve just never thought of anything I’d really like to have on display on my body forever. I DO have some piercings, but they can be removed to achieve different looks and that’s the difference for me.

I couldn't agree more, Emily! And yes, lots and lots of research out there for anyone willing to look. It's scary how inundated we are with all these harmful things everywhere.

I agree with everything you said including the tattoo's. I am happy with the way God made me no need to get a tattoo and mutilate my body. I also agree with working with your hair texture I have naturally curly hair and have learned how to style it and love it.

Mutilating your body is exactly how I describe my double mastectomy and DIEP flap reconstruction. I look like a Jack-o-lantern. Mutilate means disfigure. Ink doesn't mutilate - it covers.

What's interesting (and not fair lol) to me is that my husband hadn't been to a dentist since grade school (except when he cracked a molar playing football in high school), smoked since he was 13, drinks loads of soda, and doesn't brush his teeth, yet he doesn't stink (he's had other people make remarks on this...I'm not nose-blind), and his teeth don't look gross. Yes, really! Not only that but he's only ever had one cavity. One! Yes, really!! Meanwhile, my parents were *militant* about oral hygiene yet we all (myself and my brothers) had multiple cavities before we finished grade school. I had my first tooth pulled as a...Junior? in high school. Sigh. Not fair lol Also, I've done a lot of homework on this and it's so sad how many don't realize and won't recognize the fact that healthy teeth aren't necessarily white. And certainly they're not naturally WHITE white. I went to school with a girl who basically bleached hers. It was freaky looking to me. Her teeth were (naturally) all the same length so seeing bright, snow white teeth was like looking at a ventriloquist dummy. It gave me the willies. You can have off-white or even yellow perfectly healthy teeth and you can have bright white unhealthy teeth. We've been so programmed to associate one with the other though that it's understandable why so many think the way they do.

Well shoot! Ok, so I may not be a lady after all 😂 ! All Because 😂I have Tattoos I am not becoming or preferred. 😅 I guess I’ll be a below average lady because I do love my tattoos. Butterflies and flowers and they’re still beautiful to me and I’m almost 50. I’m so glad these are Nikki’s opinions, and probably others .. BUT FOR IS ON THE OTHER Side of the camp .. The tattoo loving camp.. here’s is my opinion for us. I’m only saying something because I don’t want any one to think they’re a little less beautiful because of tattoos. I do understand the message- I love Nikki’s videos- I know she means well, and yes, tattoos aren’t for everyone. I’m even a Patreon. This however would be the first time I’ve had to say something that probably is not gonna go well with other commenters. But as always this is my opinion and I believe beauty is more than your exterior. If a man won’t love me or want me because of my exterior then I don’t need him, he will never be satisfied if he can’t get past my exterior. I’m blessed to be married with for 22 years to a husband who loves me for more than my exterior because babies, and life will change you! 😂I just pray that no younger women listening to this will think they’re ruined because they have tattoos. 😅

I’m glad you love them! I got such positive feedback years ago from young ladies that needed guidance in such areas as they lacked knowledge because they were never taught. While that is sad to me, I’m so happy they feel my videos can inspire them in this area too🌹

Do you mean you’re not surprised? I agree, it goes without saying. We all make judgments, it’s in our nature. Hopefully this advice will help those ladies seeking what many would judge them by without a word, I simply spoke it🌹

I personally didn’t see any “judgement” what I heard was Nikki’s advise to her viewers and just like the dresses we could have different opinions, likes or dislikes. I think that just because someone had a different outlook that it shouldn’t automatically be put in the “judgement” category. I look at Nikki’s values and advice she has shared all these years and know from what she has reflected in her videos that she never comes from a place of being mean or rude she has always in my opinion shared with love and her truth. Have a great day Laura.

I want to confirm what lixx lizard posted. I'm in the South and work in the OR. nurses/drs who have tattoos are made to cover them. Patients going to surgery are in a vulnerable position and from feedback of patients, they don't feel as confident in medical personnel with tattoos. Right or wrong.

Tattoos are not lady like period! If you love them good for you. She was speaking the truth about them! Your taste do change as you get older and tattoos don't look well on older skin.
