Personal Ranking: Meechee

So nice to see a ranking of Meechee's voices :)) . I couldn't agree more with Portuguese, I actually hate my native version, and I usually don't use such strong words to describe anything xd . I'm not that familiar with these voices anyway, but I like German, but her vibrato is indeed a bit too much. I'm not a huge fan of Zendaya, she's nice, but not special to me. Sandra is very good, it's too bad her deep voice prevents me from picturing her voice in this character. I like Russian, such a smooth and charming singing. I also like Japanese, Finnish, Hungarian (such a lovely voice), Polish (her whisperd voice is just beautiful and misterious which sounds very nice in this song), Hebrew (I feel some similarities with Meshi's way of singing, but in a less characteristic way), Bulgarian (another good Bulgarian voice) and Canadian French (oh my, her voice is just so beautiful and unique, she has a very sentimental and honest singing).

While I strongly thought all Hungarian voices sounded the same, in the Vago/Furedi/Moana's voice spirit, Gigi just burst that thought and made me angry at Disney

While I like Nikolett and Fanni a lot I'm very happy to see Gigi bring something new.

@@charguigou Yeah I don't even know about recent: I think Anna Udvarias and Csilla Auth fit the same mold as Nikolett and Fanni. Dorina Csifo is mostly only different for being kiddish. And then Bernadett has been so omnipresent for the past few years that she fills in all the other gaps, Bernadett is almost like the Jana Marasova of the past decade in terms of how much she's in things. But much like Japanese voices I find I enjoy that One Sound though I can't deny it's really commonly the saaame thing.

Heh, the reason why Finnish non-Disney voices might sound good is that they hire lots of popular pop singers and FAMOUS people to these movies, ones who might not know how to act but who get the people to the movies. Meanwhile Finnish Disney dubbing seems to usually hire _voice actors_ to big Disney parts nowadays. Which makes me really glad because I think they deserve those roles more and usually their acting is lot better. But I'm not a big fan of these new non-Disney movies so I haven't really watched them to judge the dub. Disney dubs usually have some famous people too, but usually in smaller parts. Though it seems that singer Suvi Teräsniska has been cast to Frozen 2 and she seems to have songs in it too. It will be interesting to see how you guys like her, she's more of a fame-cast (though she was also born in Lapland so I think it's part of the reason)

Seeing this movie isn't at all necessary when ranking Meechee because this song seems very detached from her character in general, so knowing her 'story' doesn't truly add up anything to the song :P It doesn't really feel like a character song either because she isn't singing about herself, so when I was working on my ranking, I found it terribly difficult to come up with anything to say about the singers as they didn't really need to interpret the character. I admire your commenting skills though, you always have something new to say about some versions that I wouldn't have heard or noticed myself. Your top 10 was so good, the only one I'd ditch from it is the Putonghua version, but when you mentioned she sounds a bit like Hu Weina in the chorus, I definitely heard some similarities between their voices.

Yeah like I would never rank someone like Mulan or Ariel or even Cinderella without watching the movie...in fact I often do a movie rewatch specifically when I'm looking to rank because I need to really get to know the characters in their full context. But Classic Disney Princess/Hero Meechee is not...so I figured I wasn't missing out. Like I had my Poppy ranking almost solidified before I saw the movie, and watching Trolls in full barely changed how I saw it. Meanwhile on my first adult viewing of Mulan I moved versions from my 30s to my top 10!
