personal review of English Rose” Teasing Georgia” from @david_austin_roses
introduced in 1998
now, sadly, retired here in the UK, this rose is still available throughout Europe, America, New Zealand and Australia,
Creating a graceful shrub, around 4.5 x 4.5’. This is another David Austin rose, which thrives in our new, hot, dry summers,
It has a light, lime green broad foliage and flowers heavily in June and July with a second of flush of flowers into August and September,
Depending on your pruning techniques, it can also be trained as a short climber, reaching around 8 to 10 feet, making it perfect for the side of a rose arch or as standalone plant on a pillar or post ,
The flowers are deeply,cupped packing in around 100 petals, deep golden yellow in colour they age gracefully to a heavy yellow cream with a beautiful aged look to them,
slightly susceptible to black spot and rust pay close attention to your pruning techniques and companion planting and make sure you mulch it deeply to avoid stress wherever possible ,
it has a light to medium hybrid tea fragrance with a spicy Warm edge with hints of cloves and Sandalwood,

Ben, I love this rose too! I live in Northern Alabama where it is quite warm and I have four gorgeous a decade old Teasing Georgia shrub roses that are proliferate bloomers. They have done the best of all the David Austin roses I’ve tried to grow including Alnwick, Lady of Shallot, Boscobel and Eustacia Vye. Stunning Teasing Georgia!

I have it in my garden, it does suffer from black spot, but if I water it well and spray occasionally it's okay. Non stop flowering here in South west , into late autumn

I have this rose and she is ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL! Shes a proper eggy-yolk yellow! BUT, she sends out these long, long canes, about 7ft long, that just fall over everything else in the border! How low do I prune to keep her as a shrub? OR, should I just peg the long canes in an arch shape and let her do her thing? Any advice is most welcome.

I have mine growing on a circular 8 ft obelisk with an umbrella top. This rose needs support it is a beast, growing and flowering prolifically. One of my favourite.

​@kater8730 she is indeed a stunner! When I bought her, the info was she could be a short climber OR a shrub - so I planted her near the front of my border! Ah well, makes it easier to prune I suppose! On your obelisk, do you tie the stems around it horizontally, or just let them shoot straight up? I DO like the idea of 'pegging' but don't really have the space so I think next spring she'll get pruned even harder, down to about a 1ft if I can.

Mine is planted facing west and is definitely prone to blackspot despite me spraying her. I think she will have to go...😢

Please stop spraying it dosent work, the only way to prevent black spot is to mulch and water properly and make sure you clear any fallen infected leaves

Not just yet to the best of my knowledge stock may be exhausted and the item be out of stock but I don’t believe there are any fans to retire it just yet If you’re having problems getting hold of the Plants that you require please make sure that you signed up for the email waiting list that means you’ll be 1st to know when stock becomes available whether bear route or potted

I love watching your reviews so much. I have a question for you. I ordered two bare root roses: Teasing Georgia and CPM. I planted them in the pot side by side, full sun. They look identical. Would you please let me know how to identify between two. They are healthy, vigorous grow, long canes, mate light color leaves, deep yellow but fading quickly to cream under California sun. Cpm should have a good fragrance and emerald green foliage, teasing Georgia should be much lighter in all characteristics

Mine is grown as s bush and holds its self up but it dose produce such a large volume of flowers I have to cane the stems

Hey.. I have this one in my garden.. In India we only got Da roses in grafted form. I planted last year in pot. Produced long canes but not any buds on it like 7-8 feet long canes .. what to do should i put in a ground?? Cause currently in pot

Hi Ben, thank you for the review. Will you be able to tell me why after 2 days approx that the buds are fully open, the outside petals start heaving pink spots in my Teasing Georgia? Same thing happen with Port sunlight. What should I do to avoid this condition ? Thank you.

Dark spotting on the outer petals is often caused by cold evening temperatures, depending on where you are in the world. For instance, here in the UK temperatures have really taken a tumble nighttime temperatures coming down close to single figures. This is normally something that you get with autumn Bloons

Sadly my Teasing Georgia has a huge amount of blackspot. Even on the stems which I have never seen before. I have had to cut it right back. Am in the UK. It’s in a south facing garden and has been in same place for 5+ years. Any advice please?

Deep watering twice a week and plenty of mulch each year

Rose Clear very early on in the Spring and make sure she has plenty of Airflow that will fix it!
