You have the best, least boring capsule wardrobes. You show that the clothes can be interesting and not just black, white, gray, and denim. Even though I'm 70 years old I get many ideas from you. I still like to look attractive and stylish. Thank you!

Thank, you, Daria, for this video! Finally someone in the fashion industry said that making petite body to look taller should not be a priority. That resonates with me on so many levels, like being tall is the perception of perfect for every girl out there. Don't get me wrong, but we should embrace what we own. I have always been told that petite girls should wear heals 24/7, but i just hate heals, i look awkward in them and do not feel myself wearing them, so i gave up this torture many years ago and wear flats most of the time and feel great. That's what should matter most!

Good tips. It can be frustrating just hearing tips of how to look taller. Nothing is really going to do that! I don't have a problem being small, it's other people that do. Same way that I'm more than happy to be pale and not use self tan, it's others that have the problem with it!

So true 😉

Exactly. It is frustrating when everyone seem to want to force us to look like some unique "ideal" type. It is unrealistc and detrimental for women well-being. Diversity is beautiful.

Finally!!! Finally someone who gives other advices that trick to try and look taller ... I mean, understanding how colors and patterns visually affect our shape is always interesting, but there is nothing wrong with being short, or curvy, or pale. It feels like every tips is about tryng to make everyone look like one "ideal" bodytype and this is not only unrealistic but also detrimental for women well-being. I had to learn these facts the hard way. I am petite and curvy. Finding clothes that truly fit me is a struggle. It doesn't help with self-image. But now with more experience it's easier. And yes, ckecking the lining is important. AS checking the clothes and model dimensions. Or there will be bad surprises. The wardbrobe you selected is elegant. :)

I’m petite (with pear shape body) and I love wide-leg and flare pants. I just go for a cropped cut so that it’s a regular length for me.
@sharynhowlum19746 жыл бұрын
I like the way you explain it so graphically that clothes are longer in so many ways on the petite person. At least you can buy some clothes on sale as they are too cropped for everyone else. 😁

Thank you Daria for all this practical advice. You have the kindness and honesty to be real with your take on the subject. I love your work. Regarding this particular subject, the best decision I made was to learn how to alter clothes properly. When I don't have time to do it myself, I think paying someone to do it is worth my money. In the end, we all have different bodies and I don't really believe in pre-sized prêt-à-porter anymore. Elegance is all about the fit. If you aren't lucky enough to have your exact size sold at the store then the road doesn't stop there. You're free to create your own options!

A few of these tips are pretty nice as I have a very short torso, but I also have moderately long legs for my height (5'4"). (Think Cortana in Halo 4 for a thinner representation of my body type.) It’s a real struggle to find high waisted items that come up high enough, as it’s easy to look boxy when my waist isn’t defined. I feel like it’s hard to find good outfits for less evenly proportioned curvy girls, especially looks that aren’t too old looking it you’re under 27. I like slightly casual but romantic outfits, long skirts, flares and beautiful blouses but I struggle with finding items that fit right.

Hi Daria! I am a petite girl and here in Brasil is so hard to find stores that make clothes for my size. I have long lags but the size is wider to me, I also have long arms and the sleves are shorter and wider. I have to buy what I like and adjust everything. Shopping online is frustrating. Sometimes I feel like I´ll spend the rest of my life buying things that I don´t like but maybe fits me. Thankyou for your video!

Dear Daria, I really like your attitude to styling. But I don't know how to introduce some of the rules to my closet. I have some problem which many Polish (maybe in general Slavic) women have. I'm petite and a bit bigger. Someone could say I have "normal" body shape, whatever it mean, with bigger belly, wide hips and thighs. But upper part of the body isn't slim at all. At least 5 girls at my job have got similar problem. Some of us have got bigger breast, some bigger butt but in general we are all petite and dumpy. Any advices for us?
@wonderwardrobe7 жыл бұрын
You should dress according to your body type even if you’re petite. So my advice would be to learn what you body type is, what body proportions do you have and how to visually correct it. I have a video about body types here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/d4PRZHmdntmGq5Y

In the uS petite sizes are made differently correcting for the extra lengths. So your video regarding length may not be for everyone. I am jealous of petites as I am tall and would love to wear a tunic as a dress!

I'm kind of confused with my body shape. I'm pretty sure I'm a pear shape but I'm also only 5'1 (157cm) tall. It's very hard for me to find pants that fit right for me since I've got thicker thighs.. btw your videos have been very inspiring! Definitely have been playing with what I've got in my wardrobe. Just need better pants and skirts lol

Yes, I know, it’s so hard to find a nice fitting pair of trousers for the pear shape, no matter if you’re petite or not. The best option is to look for the cuts that are go straight or slightly wide from your hip point.
