Confession time: Energon confused me in a way nobody else was as a kid. My family had Netflix when Netflix was just mailing DVDs, so I only saw the few episodes of the Transformers season 1 and 2 other folks didn't ruin the disks for. As a result, when I saw a DVD at a thrift store titled "Transformers Energon: Starscream's ghost" I figured it was the sequel to G1 and that all the inconsistencies between G1 and Energon were the result of events that happened in the movie, which I hadn't seen. All I knew was that Spike had a kid, Unicron was the villain and died at the end, leaving his floating head , and there were some sort of spinning head creatures called Quintessons. Thus, my 7 year old self filled in the blanks so that Kicker was Spike's kid, Starscream and Megatron died in the movie and don't get revived until Energon, and all the new guys were the season 3 replacements I never saw. It really didn't help that amnesiac Starscream acted exactly like One would expect g1 Starscream to and the terrorcon army looked to be made up of Ravage and Laserbeak clones...

That's hilarious, and kind of like some stuff that's happened to me before as well, and I'm sure many others. One of the Weirdest things I've ever had happen to me is that I watched Red Vs Blue Backwards starting at season 3, because the player would auto play in reverse, and it was so confusing and interesting.

Well, in all fairness, Megatron went by the name Galvatron over in Japan (and then became “Galvatron General” when he was upgraded into the purple-and-black body), since they actually cared about the continuity lol Another fun fact, in the US, the dump truck Demolisher design was meant to be a new character named Long Haul for the US release, similar to Snow Cat and Mirage (whose toys technically represented different characters from Cyclonus and Tidal Wave), but Hasbro didn’t go through with the change (and also like Snow Cat and Mirage, the toy’s Japanese release represented an upgraded version of one of the characters, that being Demolisher’s Japanese counterpart Ironhide, who was renamed “Irontread” after the upgrade)

NGL, my favourite character design in Energon is the Shockwa- er Shockblast/SixShot design as I find it to be considerably less blocky than all of the other characters and some of the promotional 2D art makes that design look cool. Other than that, I avoid Energon like the plague.

Never knew that Transformers Energon show existed till Diamondbolt made a video about it, title "Diamondbolt Archive: Ruined Forever: Transformers Energon". -Also Titans Return Fortress Maximus is really cool. I was lucky to get not just his TR reissue and his two DNA upgrade kits to go with my Earthrise Scorponok and his DNA upgrade kits, but also his Takara Legends repaint as Grand Maximus and his big DNA upgrade kit to go with my Generations Selects Black Zarak and his big DNA upgrade kit. -Speaking of the Titans from the past toyline, have you heard the news that Hasbro is bring back TR Trypticon for Transformers: Age of the Primes in Generations Selects, in G1 cartoon show colors. I honestly like the colors more on this upcoming version as it's more vibrant, and the box art looks cool. Hope it's the version with the fixed ratchet hip joints. And who knows, a partial retool of him as the orange nose-horn Gigastorm from Beast Wars 2nd would be interesting to see down the line.

Energon is my guilty pleasure. I’m pretty nostalgic for it as my parents got me the full series and I watched it in the car all the time when I was younger. I know it has its flaws and I honestly couldn’t finish the show last time I tried, but I still love it. I’m hoping Hasbro does some updates to the figures as I think most of the designs would be great with some proportion fixes. The Optimus and Wingsaber combination I absolutely adore, to bad it probably cost me close to 500 on the after market.

I have Hot Shot & Inferno in very good conditions. I bought them in the Summer of 2004. Despise the horrible CGI cartoon & the awful looking toy aesthetics, these guys were made of sturdy plastic. Have you ever noticed that Inferno is all front & has nothing on the back? Very goofy looking. It's like a guy wearing a suit, but all nude on the back😂😂😂.

As someone who saw Energon all the way through in recent times. It's more boring than anything wasting interesting ideas and concepts, and yet is NOT the worst Transformers show! But it does continue the trend of bad TF sequels. You're right about Hot Shot as his "sports" car mode is only a mere resemblance of what it's supposed to be, the Aston Martin Vanquish!

​@@PerspectiveEnd In my analysis of the Transformers franchise as a whole...honestly, there are quite a few stinkers. Energon just wasted good potential and was boring. Earthspark, Titans Return, Earthrise, RiD'15 were just bad. But as for the worst of the worst...It's Headmasters. It lures you in with the peak of all G1 having double Primes only to ruin it by episode end killing one of them. And then blows up Cybertron few episodes later just to get rid of the other Prime just to have Fortress the most boring of leaders of all. I'm working on my review of it, but it's such a chore to get through. Save face and avoid the series because that ending is garbage.

Whats crazy is that Energon was my introduction to transformers because my library had the complete season on disc, so several of these designs like Optimus, Smokescreen, and Megatron are really nostalgic for me. Just to follow up on last video, I got 86 Bumblebee and he is incredibly fun to play with. I love flipping him back and forth from car to robot. The only down side was my son loved it too so now he has my copy and I have to pick up a new one for myself. Also, he's $16.69 US online at Target (they'll price match in-store you just need to show them the site). Which seems to be a fairer price.

i like how they made optimus a combiner but that base robot mode is terrible. look at armada, where both the normal robot and super mode look great. also, the colors were sort of strange, maybe they could of made the drill black or change the colors of all the components. 8:20 i have this, it’s great, robot mode is cool, amazing articulation, just wished he had ankle tilts. another edit 8:39 HOLY COW THAT LOOKS AWSOME.

The only way that energon was slightly enjoyable for me was when I focused specifically on the humans from armada that had three lines per season, and when I looked at starscream story arc over the whole trilogy and filling some gaps in my mind (like somewhere between energon and Cybertron he was given his memories back and he’s so hostile bc none of the autobots he was on better terms with bothered to try and help him and megatron was able to use him again)

Apparently the Japanese names for Micron Legends/Armada Cyclonus and Demolishor to Superlink/Energon Snowcat and ...Demolishor make more sense, since it's Sandstorm to Snowstorm, and Ironhide to Irontread (with our Ironhide being called Roadbuster, which makes the green Roadbuster Wild more coincidentally appropriate)
