As a side note, Turkey indeed has a great tradition of making leather goods. I bought a wallet by an unknown Turkish brand 15 years ago and am still using it today, it holds amazingly.

I bought a ladies' wallet last year from Pegai, and it still looks brand new dispite my kids best efforts 😂. It's probably the best wallet I have owned. Every time I open it, a beautiful leather smell wafts up at me. It was worth every penny and I look forward to this wallet lasting many years.

Thanks so much for this interview. Been a fan of Tanner for a while. He turned me away from overprocessed leathers. Epi and Caviar treatments might as well be PU leather. Side note: hearing your own voice dismisses my concern about AI. Too many new channels are using AI which I find lazy and inauthentic. Yes, some use it because of language barriers but I still don't care for it. Mispronounced words trigger me. And your voice is lovely.

I'd love to know what kind of styles we should look for in a life long leather bag. Are the modern, stiffer styles possible without a lot of artificial finishes? And since it's supposed to look polished, does it not "wear" as beautifully (patina, ability to touch up and fix) as other more slouchy bags?

Wow, he was one of those rare individuals who won a green-card lottery. That's amazing good fortune! I tend to buy Pulicati handbags from Italy, and for decades I've gotten my leather shoes mostly from Spain, and occasionally my sandals from Brazil.

For the most durable leather material, i would say it's kangaroo leather, most motorcycle racing gear use that material because of its super abrasive resistant, but it is extremely rare in bag industry

So what brand is the best for leather?
@Alma-e3b5 ай бұрын
Interviewing Tanner himself made this video so substantial. I truly learned a lot. I also like the way you edited and presented your topic, sounds young but looks professional. However, i hope you refrain from using cuss words like s#&t (10:23) because it's really not professional. I was enjoying watching and for a minute got lost thinking I'm watching a good documentary on tv, then i heard it. It brought me back to reality that im watching YT. That'ss all the comment i have. I hope it's constructive. Otherwise, i think you really did a good job and i hope many people will get to watch this. 😊

what about safiano leather? and why is pu "leather" bad? and what about coated canvas which is known for its durability?
@valentinacastillo44917 ай бұрын
Pu is bad beacuse is plastic, isnt as durable as animal leather, and when is not usable anymore, it takes hundreds of years to decompose.
@allisonangier16317 ай бұрын
P U stands for polyurethane. This material cracks, peels, and dry rots swiftly.

❤ the intervju 👍 Is there a leather artisan you can intervju? Some one big on youtube or a theater worker who do the leathergods to the film/theater? Or is there some one who do famous fabricbags? A video on ”al year rond chiq fabricbags”, with embroderi or batik, remake vintage etc. A intervju with some one who deals with vintage or historian bags. A makter of historian bags. A typical bag for a country like komebukuro for Japan etc. Or special craftmanship bags crochet in silvertread or makramé woodbag/coconutbag, knitted bag etc. I hope you got some ideas from my nonsenstalk 😂

This was an excellent interview with Tanner. Glad you asked all the right questions we wanted to know about leathers. Question: I have a coach glove tanned leather bag. It’s real. I bought it directly from Coach. It’s scratched up badly over time. How do you explain that? I also do the finger nail test especially on glove tanned leather. It always leaves a mark. There is no bounce back. According to Tanner that means it’s not real which is not true. Who should you interview next? Well between KZbinrs DeeDee bean, Winnie b LV, super Dacob, etc they pretty much covered every one. That is a good question'. I have to think about it. Pharell Williams, current Louis Vuttion creative director would be pushing it. 😂 In the end, I’m still confused as to how to pick a good leather bag without promoting Tanners company. I will definitely watch this video a few times. Thank you!
@burgerlampost94347 ай бұрын
I think there has been a misunderstanding. According to Tanner Leatherstein, your bag is real leather. NO immediate bounce back = Leather

Hello ❣️ Such a great Interview, thx for it! I'm German and bc I'm grown up in Northrhine-Westfalia and I'm 69 years old I live House to House with a lot of Turkish People and bc Turkey is a beautiful, an amazing Country I have made a lot of short (and some longer) Vacations to Turkey, too ❣️🤗🥰 I love Turkey - and I love Leather, and I had found over there some great Shops and Facilities which are Leather Crafting. I have very well made Leather Clothes and Bags, some are made of Silk-Sheep/-Lamb Leather, some of Goat and they are worn by me since 30 years and looking like new and bc I wear them carefully I could sell them just now - If I would want to! Thx always to Tanner L., I'm on his Channel for to learn since long time and I'm just searching for PEGAI Products, now I know I can have a Look to ETSY! 😂 THANK YOU 🥰🤗❣️

By the way, has he done a deconstruction video for Atelier Auguste to see about their quality? I absolutely love the brand and I'm seeing it more and more now along with another Parisian brand that I don't want to mention because they're going to get too popular and I am enjoying the uniqueness of my items❤ ;)

You can see how Michael Kors bags age, garbage. They don't feel good new and they look like garbage after few years. I love Coach❤🎉It feels, looks and ages great. Even LV doesn't age as well as coach, ripped corners and handles, and rigid looking zippers in the vintage bags.

If I'm not sure about a bag being real leather or not, I smell it. Leather smells like leather. "Vegan leather" (elegant way to call plastic) does not smell.

No it’s no true no ethics in exotic animals my friend in Australia literally said he got paid just to catch as many different “exotic” animals and deliver himself! Paid cash 💰 in dark places! It doesn’t matter because people still buy like the Kardishian who care about nothing except getting fat and getting more money! Ethics morals not apart of exotic bags. At Hermes tries to limit sales. But shouldn’t be allowed

Given recent news the most important question facing all of us is whether it is made by forced or enslaved labor. I do not expect you to address this. G

Doesnt it make more sense to eat the meat of animals and use their skins to make beautiful items than to create bags about food hungry people could be eating?
@tamarfischer2832 ай бұрын
Do you really think an animal cares why it is being killed? Oh, theyre gonna eat me, its not just for their bags, so im fine with it.

Fake leather, I just smell it & look at the label. It's like a new car smell with real leather seats. I wouldn't suggest pressing your fingernail, as it can leave marks & no one wants to buy a new bag with damage on it. 👜👛😁
