A pet feeding stand for your cat or dog, i was using plates for Mr.Butters and they were getting stood on and kicked about, not much pallet wood needed in this project or major tooling, the station was finished with glow in the dark resin and a hard wax oil protection.
Strip your pallets as you normally would, I used two of the widest boards I could at just under 6inch or 150mm wide and then put a rabbet in them using a straight bit in the WorkZone router table set up. This gives you 3 gluing faces which is a very strong joint as theres lateral joining on the center face.
Sash clamps are a great investment, they cost about £15 each and you ideally need 3 to clamp a piece up at 1.2m long or about 4 feet.

The Osmo express woodglue is a good choice as its suitable for outdoor use which means any water spilled isnt going to affect that and itll resist getting wiped and cleaned when needed.

Cut the joined board down to size. This will depend on the size of your bowls. Remember to add a bit so that the bowls dont foul on the base underneath. There are many ways to find the center, i used a perspex center finder from my lathe to do it.

Either cut the hole straight down or you can try and match the angle of the bowl and make for a really snug fit. I did this here and it wasnt that easy and I needed to go back and take a little bit more off a few times.
I used a 4x1 for the sides, cut at a slight angle for arty purposes, and took a small amount off the bottom so the 4 corners are sat higher all round, if your design isnt exactly straight and rocks a little bit it makes it easier to sand it down so it sits correctly.
The Evo saw is a little godsend at times, doesnt take up a lot of space and cuts well R210 CMS amzn.to/2TQxVAc
For base assembly, 50mm round head nails and glued, use a nail punch to poke the nails further in and then use a filler or glue with sawdust to fill the holes.
A pocket kreg was used to drill the holes to attach the base to the top, another good design and youre able to screw up from underneath and behind so you dont leave a lot of screw holes everywhere.

Found a packet of glitter in the kids old stuff so i put it to good use. Carved out a fish and his name using a combination 10 degree and spiral cutter in the trim router and then backfilled with the resin mix which turned out quite well and stands out against the white of the wood.

2 coats of Osmo poly X to seal it off, food and pet safe, gives a hard wearing water proof finish and is ideal for this sort of project.
