For anyone wondering: The house rabbit is curious about the wild rabbit, its sniffing curiously without a sign of lunging, kicking or any aggressive behavior. The wild one is very catious, quickly jumping, running away when the other one gets too close. This is what you'd call a default behavior of a prey animal, se he isn't exactly scared, just wary. They are both curious about each other, thus no aggression other than the accidental kick from the wild rabbit. Side Note: Giving away a rabbit because your family don't consider it fun anymore and saying it would be happier with someone else is the most cowardly thing to do. I rescued a rabbit from one such a person, they my sweet bunny Cuki for their daughter who was 5 years old. But once they got a dog they just kept the poor thing in a cage. There was plenty of space, they just didn't care about him anymore... His nails were overgrown, his fur matted and his teeth needed tending. Their daughter managed to rip one of his nails off and now he doesn't let anything touch them. I rescued him in spite of having 2 other rabbits. Now they're living happily with me in an APARTMENT! I have less space than a family of 5 yet my bunnies have enough space to binky around. Take care of your damn pet, its not a toy for little children.

One thing you have to always remember is that our domesticated rabbits come from European rabbits, European rabbits live in social groups, warrens. Think of watership down. Eastern cottontails are more solitary creatures, the only time they live in family groups is when they are babies. Your domesticated bunny wants to play and make friends and eastern cottontail is like "why are you not fighting me?"the way they fight for territory is they kind of do high jump kick. Domesticated bunny is a little bit slower and chunkier than a wild rabbit but still cute. You need to be careful because wild rabbits can spread diseases to domesticated rabbits.Rabbit Hemorrhagic Disease is one of those, causes internal bleeding and death. They spread it through direct contact or through shared food. Wild rabbits and domesticated rabbits can't interbreed so you won't have to worry about that.

When I was very young and inexperienced, my first pet rabbit ran away. We lived on a fairly large acreage, with plenty of cottontails. I figure it died pretty quickly, but I always found it nice to imagine what interactions it could've had with the wild bunnies.
@CosplayBuddies2 жыл бұрын
This reminded me how my childhood pet rabbit ran away, she had an enclosure outside for good summer days but she managed to make a slightly bigger hole in the wire fence to escape. I remember crying my eyes out and scared for her, we lived close to a road that had a lot of large trucks going through as there was a factory close by. We were sure she'd never be found, but after 3 days our neighbor, over on the other side of the truck road, called that she had been found! We hadn't even told them she went missing, as we were sure she wouldn't survive that far, but when the mother of that family was driving home that day, a rabbit came out of a bush on their driveway, the mother wasn't driving fast so she stopped in time to not run over it. She watched in confusion as this rabbit wasn't running away, after a little while she remembered that we had a pet rabbit that looked just like that. She wouldn't let the mother grab her, so they took a cat carrier and lured her in with carrots! I think I cried from happiness as she came home. I still wonder, where did she go and what did she see in those 3 days?

It is possible. I found a rabbit in the wild that based on behavior and size was clearly once a domesticated rabbit that had either escaped or been abandoned. I watched it and its buddy outside my house for a few weeks before I finally took it in. My suspicions on its past were confirmed when it proved to be already potty trained. (Unfortunately, I believe its friend did perish in the wild which was a big reason I took the other rabbit in)

Just a heads up: Wild rabbits can carry many diseases etc. When I was a kid (we lived on the countryside), we had outdoor bunnies and once we saw a wild bunny interact with ours through the fence. A couple days later all of our bunnies started showing signs of myxomatosis and a week later they were all dead :( Domestic rabbits, and especially those that live indoors, already have a weaker immunesystem than their wild counterparts, making them even more prone to diseases.

Yeah same, I've had buns die of it too when a wildie got too close to mine (also lived in the country). It's not a nice way for rabbits to die, I remember cuddling one of my boys as he passed and he could barely breathe, it was horrible. This guy is extremely lucky is irresponsibly didn't lead to his pet catching it, or other diseases, and dying a painful death - not all countries have myx vaccines. Man is by nature sinful and separated from God with no hope of remedying that situation. But God, by His power, provided the means of man’s redemption in the death, burial, and resurrection of the Savior, Jesus Christ. Ephesians 2:8-9 For it is by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of GOD, not a result of works, so that no one may boast. Romans 10:9 9 because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. JESUS CHRIST can come anytime! Because not only do you have to contend with the usual horrors of survival, but you will ocationally catch glimpses of creatures that LOOK like you, MOVE like you and may even SOUND like you, but there is always just something *off* , their bodies are shaped weird, their movements are different, their noises are a different language. You’ve got yourself a little guard rabbit. That’s his yard, his territory and he wanted the interloper gone. His kick-out’s were great and I thought I saw him try to bite once. Fascinating.

Your rabbit could get myxomatosis form the wild rabbit. Make sure its protected against this disease.

Here in Australia Myxomatosis is rampant in the wild rabbit population.

@@NathanChisholm041 In the USA, the native Cottontail rabbits are carriers of cottontail rabbit papilloma virus as in they are often asymptomatic when they are infected with it. You don't want them anywhere near domestic rabbits

@@clarehidalgo I don't have rabbits but I work on the land and have seen first-hand how the end up almost gonners. Rabbits are not native and do so much damage over here in Australia...

I had this happen to me at a park once. It did not go like this. They actually groomed each other and were more relaxed. I think it helped they were both females.

Most of time female rabbits are a lot more territorial than male bunnys. I've had female and male bunnys and the female always dominated them all :D

Rabbits don't have a lot of differences in behavior between gender tbfh.
@thewriterforge2 жыл бұрын
it had nothing to do with the gender but rather the temperament
@MONNSTROSITY2 жыл бұрын
No, it didn’t have anything to do with gender… doe’s are equally aggressive if not more than males and incredibly territorial. Me and my mom bred rabbits for around seven years and two of the breeding doe’s we had fought once through the bars of their cage. My younger doe was much tinier at the time and got her nose cut open by my older female. It was so deep that she forever lost a chunk of her nose from it.
