I love your tegus so much! To be fair, I think I would say I love all your pets, but I am so fascinated by tegus. I don't know that I will ever be able to keep one just because of the size enclosure they need so it's nice to see yours.

Try to convince her to let you get a leopard gecko or crestie if you like them. They're smaller lizards and my mom who's terrified as well agreed to let me get one. They're good beginner reptiles

@@headlessboyfriend They are I have had one for almost two months now and his personality is so chill, but that all depends on the gecko itself. Bug her with research and facts that's how I convinced my parents and saving up money.

Ghostly Paws Yeah I have a tank that is quite big it was a old fish aquarium and I’m thinking it would be a good amount for a leopard gecko it’s a 40 gallon I think that would be fine for a leopard gecko? But yeah now I just have to have my mom get me a gecko. Thank you for the help I really appreciate it! ❤️

@@headlessboyfriend It's more than fine. I have the same thing and it's a place for him. And in the future, if you do get one and you liked owning a gecko you could split it into two tanks. No problemo and goo luck!

Really nice pets :) But please overthink your Leopardgecko enclusure. Sand is a poor choice an no tight spaces for her to wedge in. Just a nice suggestion ;)

those fake plants from the dollar tree are great! you get 10 or more for the price of one pet store plant and i like the material more than the pet store plastic plants. theres so much variety my favorite one is the one with a little pink on the leaves

Hey Maddie! I was wondering about my bearded dragon's diet. I've been really anxious lately and have been suddenly paranoid about her health. I always keep fresh omnivore mix and mealworms in her terrarium, full water. But we take her out extremely often and because of that usually I feed her dandelion flowers and leaves. Once in a while we give her live crickets as a treat. Lately my mom has been taking her out and feeding her masses of arugala without my permission and that worries me. She's not fully grown but is basically stuck at the stage right before at the moment. She's active, alert, responsive. Only thing that worries me about her behavior is that she fights with her reflection on the side of the terrarium, but we'll be putting a background on the terrarium there.

I think you should switch the house hide, it doesnt look good. I dont think it should count as a hide. I think you should put some tree bransjens in your tehus cage so They Get more mental stimuation!

Ola Berg Telemark yeah I personally don’t like the house either. I used to have another hide in there but the only one he’d ever come out to go inside was the house so I need to try some other things. The only reason I don’t have tree branches in my tegus enclosure is because they’re too big to sanitize! I’ve wanted to find a large piece of wood that someone else sanitized because I have no way of sanitizing something that large

hi! i’m so in love with all these setups. I just had a question - I plan on getting more snakes in the future. I love the tanks / whatnot for all the ball pythons, that’s kind of what i’m thinking of getting. my question is, how does the heating work in them? i’ve seen a lot of people with this setup but never really say anything. thank you!!

I use heat tape hooked up to a thermostat on my ball python vision cages. For my other snake cages I use heat mats hooked up to a thermostat :) I would recommend either a heat pad/heat tape/or a radiant heat panel for ball pythons

Maddie Smith I have no experience with heat tape - been wondering if it’s something I should look in to. I have a RHP in the new enclosure I got my for Dumerils boa, so I can’t wait to test it out!

ZA Reptiles I love the heat tape! It’s been very reliable and I’ve tested it unregulated and it doesn’t seem to get as hot as the heat mats I’ve tested. Not saying I wouldn’t use it with a thermostat, but it seemed pretty consistent over the whole piece. My ball pythons are the only “duplicate” animals I have so the heat tape is nice since they obviously all need the same hot Spot :)

I have one of those Dream Co enclosures like you have your arboreal tarantulas in. Do you ever have issues with the door warping? The door on mine is warped. It wasn’t like that when I bought it.

I have no idea how that happened either because my room isn’t overly hot (75°F) and I’m definitely not rough with the enclosures and all of the doors warped??

Tyla R Evans my ball python cages are made by Steve Doss (The Reptile Factory), my front opening enclosures for my smaller snakes and frog are ExoTerra, my leopard gecko enclosure is a NatGeo 23 gallon, the tarantula and roach enclosures are DreamCo Plastics, and the tegu cage was made by my dad and I :)

miah they can be but only similar species together and I definitely wouldn’t recommend it for first time owners. Not every tegu will be okay in a group and then you have to separate. These two have been together for two years without issue but I’m also very careful. I used to not feed them together, but now they are respectful of each other while eating, they don’t share hides and burrow separately, and bask next to each other (not on top of each other). You have to be very vigilant on watching for signs of competition for space/resources, And I haven’t seen anyone keep a group of more than three indoors. I did have a third tegu that I wasn’t sure if I would keep (odd circumstances led him to being with me) and he was okay in the group for awhile but then started picking on Deja so I separated him and found him a great home where he actually sometimes shares an outdoor enclosure with a blue tegu with no issue. It all depends on the individual:)

Scales Nthings I used to rescue and rehab beardies! I had one that passed away in October of 2017 after he had improved so much I decided to keep him. He was amazing. But I do have 7 bearded dragons that I’ve rehabbed that are doing great with their families (like Tyler Rugge’s Malakai!) he was my first rescue :)

What exactly is a bioactive enclosure? Just live plants and stuff?

It’s fully sustainable basically. It has cleanup crew (little bugs; in my case springtails, isopods, and hypoaspis mites) that break down any poo and dead plant matter. My frog gets her water from the plants being misted and the little bugs keep the enclosure clean. It’s basically a mini jungle, I love it. :)
