8:38 i understand that backseating is annoying and i do apologize, but in this spot wouldn't it be better to cast therapy with underground sea, check for force or daze (in this case daze because its just as good as force but trades 1:1 rather than 2:1), cast rector with the rest of the lands and flashback therapy sac-ing rector? That way you presumably take the remaining card and also get the walker in the main phase to be able to activate immediately, all while still having force pitch strix up.

Yes I really didn't get why this line wasn't taken as it was a sure win. No point in wanting to sac Rector to Tower as you can just as well use a land for Therapy as sac outlet while having the benefit of extra protection

I came to ask why not go full Nic Fit haha. Replace cantrips with Deadly Dispute. Play 6 mana Wandering Emperor as a wrath. Between Altar, Deadly Dispute and Veteran Explorer for ramp, hard cast Emperor is very reasonable. And ramp into Rector is good too

@@derekcline950 I played with both decks, and this one feels much better. Traditional Nic fit loses too often for most combo decks, while this esper deck has a decent mid range plan, survives combos well (force + therapy) and can go over the top of tempo decks.

Yes. The death creates a trigger that allows you to exile it for the effect. If there’s no rector to exile when the trigger resolves, you can’t meet the requirement.

Mardu low curve token deck is the best "cat therapy" is superior. Playing: staff of the story teller, bowmaster, ajani, & fable as token makers. Deck plays an urza's saga package with vexing bauble. Thoughtseize, wasteland, and plows for control. Broadside is the additional red card for ajani as it's another way to sack tokens.

How often do you want to sacrifice Frog to cabal therapy? How much do you care about incidental Frog damage if you’re building towards Ugin/Bolas?

The draw of Frog isn't chip damage, it's card draw + being a Moat + being a decent backup plan if someone has graveyard hate. And how often do you have Strix, and cabal therapy, and no Ajani, Nacatl Pariah (which is the better sacrifice), and no Academy Rector (which also is the better sacrifice)? Although I guess I can see an argument for having Frog over Teferi and Brainsurge. But I refuse to believe that UB without Frog is correct.
