OMG! I waited so lonnnggggg for this video!! So happy to have watched it now. Some lovely sp and some I’ve yet to add to my list of sp I keep. I’ve currently got 9 sp/morphs. Good luck with them Dayyan and please keep me updated on the population growth! I’ve actually got some scabers similar to your lava native in my garden in the U.K., they seem fairly common over here! :D

I love Isopods! I am up to about 15 species/morphs myself. I particularly love the Spanish/ Iberian peninsula species. My favorites are probably the 'Seville' and P. Hoffmanseggii. They get huge! I have an Entomology degree from Auburn University here in Alabama, but technically they're not insects anyways! Great video D! I hope you are settling in well on the West Coast, take care!

@@Reptiliatus Hey D! If you will send me a list of the isopods you have and your address I'll be happy to mail you some different morphs. However I've never shipped anything to Canada so I'll have to research that, but I would love to help in any way I can! Maybe you can find me on Facebook if you do that. I'll look for you on there, I don't know your last name but since your first name is fairly unique, if you have a profile it should be relatively easy to find. Have a great day brother!

Can Armadillidium lucia be housed with Porcellio without hybridising?
@hoangthinguyen88366 жыл бұрын
Is it me or the Zebra isopod is the closet family to pill millipede. I have 10 different cultures and the only one that would roll up is Armadillidium maculatum.
@mpk66643 жыл бұрын
That's exactly why they look like that. They share the same range as the millipede and mimic them as a defense.

I started a wild type culture of armadillidium vulgare. Im gonna try to breed my own strains cause im too broke to buy isopods. Plus its more fulfilling if i do it myself. I hope i get some unique traits as i breed and raise them.

@@testosteratort.5660 feeder isopods, af least with A. Vulgare, will require a population of thousands to produce enough in a reasonable amount of time due to the slower maturation rate. But i like the idea, i have a wild population of the lavas in my yard, so i might use those as feeders cause they grow faster

The owner of the local reptile store that I go to knows that I like isopods and the I always get new ones every time I go to an expo, ask me if I was interested in selling some in a store. Sometime this week I'm going to make some Armadillidium maculatum, Armadillidium nasatum, Armadillidium nasatum "peach", Cylisticus convexus, Porcellio laevis "dairy cow", Porcellio scaber "Laval", Porcellio scaber "dalmatian", Porcellionides pruinosus "powder blue" and Trichorhina tomentosa" dwarf White" cultures to sell him. I have a ton of powder blue cultures to make. They just seem to breed like crazy for me.
