They aren’t just involved in the writing, they ARE the writing. As has been confirmed in numerous publications, including the BBC, they write their own shit, but rely on the grandkids to keep them up on the current slang. It’s wild how people are willing to acknowledge these guys have the pure talent and dedication to be some of the best rappers with the most unbelievable flows around!but NOT that they could write bars.

I'm a cockney like Pete n bas. They use alot of cockney rhyming slang in their lyrics. Which unfortunately goes over alot of peoples heads. If you think about it. It's a form of rap. We learn it from birth. It's really a language within a language within a language. I'll explain. Firstly it's English then you have the long form version then again it's shortened. Here's some examples. Tom foolery means jewelry. Shortened to Tom. Whistle and flute means suite. The kind you wear. Shortened to whistle. Jan jar means car but there's no shortened version. When talking to another cockney you often throw random words in conversation and they will instantly rhyme it in their head and the conversation won't stop. So if you been doing that all your life. You gonna be good at rapping. A few interesting facts. During the American war of independence. The British offered slaves freedom if they fought for them. After the war they were settled in the East end of London where cockneys come from. They integrated, settled down married and had kids. We are their descendants, well a few of us are. During the 2nd world war the Americans used navaho Indians as radio men as the Japanese couldn't understand them. The British used cockneys

After rapping for years now it’s more likely that these gentlemen know the slang and don’t need help with the lyrics. There are too many old man subtle word play that youngsters wouldn’t think of. One example from here is that Silk Cuts are an old fashioned brand of cigarettes. I’m convinced they write this. Neck a drink is to drink it, and Jackson is a liquor.

They aren’t. As confirmed in numerous articles (including on the BBC), they write their own shit, relying on grandkids to keep them unto on the slang and Nine to produce their beats. it’s wild that people acknowledge they have the skill to ride these beats with such precise flows, but somehow they couldn’t possibly also have the talent and skills needed to write bars. After all, remember, Bas iris not only former military, formerly an actor, formerly a bare knuckle underground street fighter, formerly a lawyer - but also a skilled musician who spent time on lay8mg on cruise ships and also put out a piano album. These guys took a serious interest in drill music and there is no reason to think that two old dudes who are legitimately and sincerely interested in rap, already have musical experience and talent, and know how to write, couldn’t learn to write top tier bars. Fuck yeah, it’s unusual, but entirely reasonable and likely given circumstances… and since they have literally stated they write their stuff, there’s no reason not to take them at their word. And of course, their grandkids 100% had to have helped them build up their skills as anyone would expect someone new to something to work with and learn from someone more experienced in said thing. When you hear Nine and Des perform, you can absolutely see their influence on Pete and Bas' flow style. And, of course, Nine's production is top notch. He produces these insane beats that almost never miss and really allow Pete and Bas' talent to shine through.
