As an atheist, the "you can't find the author when you're in the book" is the best argument for religion I've ever heard.
@ajplays-gamesandmusic45686 ай бұрын
That's not what he said though.. He said "you're not going to find the author, in the book". Which, from Pete is weird because he was a Born Again Christian, and the author IS in THAT book. He's all over that book. God is basically a narcissist. Which explains so much about the current state of affairs.

I thought the same, hit me in my thinking spot... Of course until you think about it and realize it's the brain in a vat thought experiment... It isn't falsifiable... We all could be brains in jars... But the god is everything is the same as saying God is nothing. But yeah, super evocative and poetic way of putting it... Love Pete and how his brain works.

@@ajplays-gamesandmusic4568yo you have a fundamental misunderstanding of what Pete believes
@ajplays-gamesandmusic45685 ай бұрын
@@thematturlookingfor I wasn't commenting on what he believes now, but his Christian past. Not an indictment, just an observation. I like Pete. I used to be a christian too. These days I consider myself an Agnostic Christian. aka someone that still prays, but wouldn't really want to be identified as religious.

46:38 Mike, the Georgia joke is about language and misunderstanding. The same thing applies to your conversations with your father. You're speaking the same language, but sometimes can't understand each other. That's how it fits into the show.

I align more with Mike’s editing philosophy. I do think that so much of what makes art great is what we decide to leave out. It’s what makes “Working it out” feel like a show. It’s purposeful. When done right, editing is mostly invisible, it just helps you get swept up on the storytelling. It’s more of a sculptor’s approach I suppose, where it’s what material you remove that makes the piece.

Great stuff! I'd pay to see this once a week. I'm 100% Stilts & Slomo love each other like Broseph's from another Joseph but, sometimes when they're busting each other's chops, I'll feel a touch of sadness for the nanosecond it takes the other to laugh. But, just like rubbing alcohol, that burn means it's working🤣

The Georgia hat joke = you and your dad trying to understand each other through sports & academics. You never quite learned his language, but do you still know each other? How does that link to knowing him as Brooklyn/gi bill Dr in Texas? You're not the same and you speak a different language, but do you still know each other? Are you teaching your daughter your language? Are you letting her know you? - love the show!
