All of the basket players like me back in Pete's days idolized him. One of the stories about him was that when he and his father rode around in a car his father drove and Pete dribbled the basketball outside the passenger side window while the car was moving. Amazing ball handler!

Pistol Pete was a ball handling magician. To think what he would be able to with a basketball now with all the palming carrying, traveling going on in the NBA, Pistol would probably be able to make a basketball disappear and reappear on the court.

The Pistol was a truly.great ball handler because he dedicated himself and practiced constantly. The era that he played in was way more strict in terms of the dribbling rules and he was still amazing. The rules today are much more lenient which for allows for crossovers, etc... I like the modern rules better and Pete would have been even better today, no doubt. I wonder how many more points he would have averaged with the 3 point line.

I drilled these drills into my life everyday over and over again and was the slowest most unathletic skinny white boy ever to lead 4 football players to a state championship breathing this. Went to play in 3on3 gus macker after 20 years without touching a ball averaged 10 game without even doing shooting practice cause it's all about the feel of the ball

He was one of a kind, hopefully another personality like his comes about, Curry was close as far as skill, but Pete's obsessiveness with the game and the training is what separates him from anyone else (Jordan was close, but Pete's mind was 100% hoops before he became depressed later in his career).
