I reminisce about growing up with my Sega Genesis, 32X, Nomad, Sega Channel and Dreamcast.
I forgot to mention that yes, my grandpa did have a Sega CD, though I mostly only played Sonic CD and Sewer Shark on it.
The video I mentioned: • Me playing Sonic 2 in ...

I'll never forget sneaking into my parents closet and seeing my Christmas present being a Genesis. I still had 2 of the longest weeks of my life holding onto the secret of knowing and absolutely dying to play. Before then my parents would rent the system from Blockbuster here and there. NES just wasn't cutting it anymore. 91 was the Genesis Christmas. Basically my Red Rider bb gun

Fellow Greetings Sir! My name is Sega Renaissance , I am the Administrator and Owner of SegaUnited.com and the incoming Executive Officer of G****Enterprises and our incoming Webring service U.N.G. As an affiliate, advocate and business partner of Alethiea Games,LLC, I'm sure you have alot of lingering questions regarding RAZOR. These questions I cannot answer as we don't speak for Alethiea Games, but we are GLAD to help assist you with referring to you some basics of what RAZOR is and can definitely refer you to Alethiea Games' contact information and press info. If you're interested to know what RAZOR is and how long its been in operations. Let me quickly explain. RAZOR or The RAZOR console is a Stand Alone, Independently developed Next Gen Game Console Project that Virginia State Based Alethiea Games is working on and getting proper legal funding for. The console will be Pitched to Sega Holdings,Co,Ltd in Japan in the approach where Sega licenses the console from Alethiea Games and ultimately buys it from AG. Sega will handle 90% duties of RAZOR, sales, marketing, licensing, distribution, manufacturing, procurement, management. Alethiea Games will act as a Licensee or "IP Sharing Partner' of its Console or "Technology Partner" in the same league as WebTV in the 90s, Also in some for like 3DO and SK Hynix and TiVo today. Once successful, AGs will sell its rights and company off to Sega. In the same way that WebTV Networks,Inc was acquired by Microsoft in 1999, and became MSN TV where it lasted another 11 years and its services ran all the way until Early 2013. For Basic information and details about The Razor, please check out these 2 Interviews Alethiea Games conduced with JDDauntless and MaDZ Game in August of 2016: kzbin.info/www/bejne/qqC0kIKJbK6NnJY kzbin.info/www/bejne/gmfUZ4Grf6yaas0 And this Interview with UR Chicago last Fall: www.urchicago.com/interviews/2017/11/3/shusei-of-aletheia-games.html Alethiea Games also has a Twitter and YT Channel. twitter.com/OperationRazor kzbin.info/door/NtuQa8rRWvFzYxJqPNkeog And finally, Operation Razor uses IPetitions: www.ipetitions.com/petition/operationrazor If anyone has any questions regarding Razor and if you'd like an interview, feel free to contact Alethiea Games via press. Love hearing your personal stories and memories Pete. So interesting and relaxing to listen to. Please stay with us and keep the pace up. You had a awesome grandfather. My father was and is also in to gaming. I have fond memories playing MERCS on the Megadrive together with him on Christmas day. I also was a SEGA kid and my best friend had a SNES. love the stories about your grandfather. That's great. I'm about your age but I have zero experience of anyone from our grandparents generation playing video games. My dad is 63 and he plays games. My dad and I have been playing games together since the very late 80's and early 90's, and recently we got a switch. Playing mario kart 8 and puyo puyo tetris together really rekindles the nostalgia for the nes/snes/64 days. He also has become obsessed with BOTW, which is so cool because he hasn't gotten deeply into a single player adventure like that for over a decade.

Many kids of my generation bought a Genesis for EA NHL games (early ones). There was this huge hockey boom in the early 90s and everyone who had a Genesis, had these games. SNES port was not up to par.

Great video Pete. Im glad to see you making videos again. Always puts a smile on my face to hear about others gaming memories and it reminds me of gaming in my childhood. I didn't own a Genesis until about mid 2009. I played a baby sitters sons Genesis after school and that went on for about a year or two until his family moved to south Texas. Played all the well known titles on the Genesis and SNES in the 90's. Had an SNES and if memory serves me right my dad bought me and my brother an SNES for Christmas or our birthdays in 1992. The bundle he got had Super Mario game packed in. The games put out for the Genesis still holds up very well today to me. I have many good memories playing the Genesis and still play retro games to this day and i don't see myself stopping gaming any time soon. I would like to see you do a video about your memories with the Game Boy, Super Nintendo and Nintendo 64. I have fond memories playing all three of those systems. I didn't have an NES as a kid but played my cousins for years until i got my own NES in think it was 2010.

I was a Nintendo kid for the most part. But I got into the Genesis when a family friend brought his over and played it at our house. I remember seeing Altered beast, last Battle, Golden Axe, Ghouls N Ghosts and Rambo III, among others. He also had the Power Base converter for it so I played a select few Master System games on it, like Phantasy Star. I was blown away by it then. I am grateful to have been able to have the best of both Sega and Nintendo growing up.

My first encounter with a Genesis was with my family as we were checking out of a toy store. It was an indi store not a Toys R Us or Child World, but still quite large. In any case the staff must've just got the first shipments in and had decided to show off the new item by setting it up on one of the check out lines so that people could play it. It wasn't bolted down or in a kiosk or anything.. They just unboxed one and hooked it up to a TV set playing Altered Beast. It was quite a shock as there we had never even heard of it. Then again, like lots of gamers back then we only had an NES and relied on Nintendo Power for news.. We were hooked, and the following week my brother purchased one. We got thunder force 2, and Super Thunder Blade. Every couple of weeks my family would go shopping and we check to see if new titles were released. The one I remember most was when my dad purchased the revenge of shinobi. My old man treated every purchase the way he would when dealing with an auto salesmen... He'd never show excitement or interest preferring to keep that to himself, and would at best say something like "yeah i guess that looks good". Anyhow Revenge of Shinobi was one of a handful of times where he seemed impressed, he didn't even ask if we thought we should purchase it ( our family's default was a vote ). I still have that exact copy and play it from time to time. It remains one of the top games for the system by my ranking.

Thanks so much for making videos for your fans on this shitty site Pete! I have similar memories with my Grandpa. He was a gamer too. He exposed me to donkey kong and mario for snes and then he got hugely addicted to tomb raider for ps1 and played it and beat it over and over again. Everytime I visited he was playing tomb raider and I got to watch and he would let me play. I remember buying him every tomb raider game that was out at the time off of ebay and putting them all in a big CD case with the manuals and the cutouts. Beautiful memories but also sad that they are just memories now

Wow an oldie who played video games :P That's rare. My first memory of playing video- games with a relative was with the Gamecube. My two cousins had Animal Crossing hooked up; a sim-game. The NPCs had their own lives. It was late at night, and Monique or Mitzi (or the B&W cat?) fell asleep on their doorstep. That was just spectacular. The realization that there are alternative genres to gaming (vs platformers/shooters) was a pretty memorable moment in my life tbhq

I'm pretty sure it was Christmas 1992, my parents remortgaged the house and we (me and my two brothers) got so much stuff that year (romote control cars & cassette recorders, transformers) but I asked for a Sega Mega Drive instead of a bike as my main present. I think this was a pretty big decision but we did own a Sinclair ZX81, a Donkey Kong Game & Watch and a Merlin so my Dad was into gaming enough to get on board - in the end he was the one who bought most of the games for us after reviewing all the magazines and scanning the shops in free time. We didn't ask the kids in the playground, we discussed games with my Dad and as such we had the Mega Drive set up in the lounge and watched eachother play. This cotinued with the Saturn even though we didn't know anybody else who oned one.

I remember going to my grandparent's house and playing the genesis. The console was originally my grandfather's and while I never had a genesis at my parent's house, I do remember playing the genesis quite a bit. Super Hang-On and the Sonic games were classics for my younger self. I also remember playing DJ Boy, Super Thunder Blade, and Toejam and Earl (a game that was very funky to me as a kid because of its open world feel). Early 2013 my grandfather passed away and ever since then I have kept his genesis and games. I honor my grandfather every year by playing the genesis games that I grew up with.
