This video shows how to calculate support forces using moments.
A typical context is bridges, but the method of taking moments about different points can be used to solve many problems (not just two support problems).

Hi pete, i really appreciate ur vid! Just a quick question if the question added a gravitional force on the center of the plank, lets say 1000N, should we conculde the calculation on S1?

How come you didn't take into account the weight of the bridge?? Wouldn't the weight of the bridge make the support forces of s1 and s2 much larger? as it's not only supporting the weight of the person.

He did it for simplicity at the start but then does with including the bridge.
