It was very telling how Chris Evans had no interest in talking about Marvel junk or analyzing it in any way. He knows it's just a nonsense ego construct. It shows how its just a meal ticket and his true passions lie elsewhere
@newcamomile2 ай бұрын
@@leob4403 if you listen to him talk about Marvel he's always incredibly affectionate towards both Steve and Johnny Storm, and also very complimentary about Kevin Feige (and was yknow, at Kevin's Hollywood walk of fame ceremony) and the Russos. I think it's pretty insulting to Chris to insinuate that he would see such a big chunk of his career as no more than a meal ticket. It's clearly very dear to him and he's just careful in how he talks about it.

Chris was so honest and vulnerable in this and hearing him say that even he - a person who is adored all over the world - struggles with anxiety and lack of confidence sometimes is weirdly comforting. Don't get me wrong, it is not because I want him to suffer but because it confirms that no amount of money or number of accolades can take away the uncomfortable feelings. Also, the work he has done to help find relief from those is admirable and he has some great tips! I tried the "take a vacation from your thoughts" last night and it worked! He could do his own podcast on mindfulness. Mindfulnevans! :D

1:14:48 Dogs are incredible teachers! Much like Chris says about his dog, my own old pup often sits in the yard, taking in her present environment. It looks like she's doing some doggy meditation. Her brain will still instinctively process sensory clues (no pesky squirrels in her yard lol), but she looks so at peace and fully taking in her "now". I WISH I could do this! I love hearing humans talk about learning from animals, its so beautiful.

Saw a clip on IG. Immediately jumped to YT search bar. I absolutely loved the episode. Pete... gotta hand it to you, a tremendous effort to incorporate your perspective on things, running a podcast and simultaneously transitioning and guiding the concepts through various narratives. It is apparent that you have done your homework on Chris' work, that is what I appreciate as a viewer. Chris is such an inspiration of mine... and every time I come across a podcast or open format conversation on his work experience, personal life and goals, I'm all ears. Watched every second of it. Absolutely loved it!

This talk came at a great point in my life. Every concept I would have understood so surface level a year ago, like accepting your anxiety; respecting it but understanding it is best to hear it then move on. Or "being alone among people" this I have felt for a few years now but only with this talk has the concept been truly realized. Kinda wild it came from the podcast with college humor Batman, and Captain America. Love you guys.

In regards to Chris' comment about eye contact, I too struggle with this. I lived in Japan for a few years and one of their cultural habits that I prefer is that they don't maintain eye contact during an entire conversation. It's actually considered unnerving to them and you're supposed to allow your eyes to wander here and there

I was growing into my leadership status as a soldier when Evans’s Captain America came in to the zeitgeist. I grew up and saw myself in his story arc. I saw myself as a person of action and integrity but found myself in a world where the very big scale entities (my unit, the Army, our “missions”) disillusioned me and forced me to question my place, my purpose, my allegiances. My career in the Army ended in tandem with Steve Rogers, and I have found a similar peace by reflecting on my time and returning to what Angelica cared for and her interests before she donned the uniform and identity/mantle and burdens as we we do entering adulthood. I returned to my essence because I watched Captain America movies. So thank you, Chris, for being my Truman Show through the 10+ year commitment to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Your art matters. It mattered to me.

Great interview. Life is simple it only gets complicated when you try and explain using words, words are clumsy so trying to convince or explain a mindset/believe to a person or group of people is like a dog chasing its tail. Some people have a gift for explaining all you do is listening and enjoy and live it. Most people live their entire life without ever a thought towards these things like a Sparrow that's fine also. 😊
