I am glad you mentioned Gordon's shaking hand being similar to the odd scenes of this towards the end of Season 2 when it happened at the diner, to Agent Cooper, and to Pete Martell. A lot of folks are missing that connection. One can't help but note that the opening of the doorway was at hand when this happened back then, and now, 25 years later, it is happening again and Gordon experiences it. I love how Mark Frost and David Lynch haven't missed anything from the old days, even the smallest detail seems to be brought back. Fire Walk With Me was a highly frustrating experience before, but now that all the strange new elements are being woven in with Season 3, it makes the prequel film incredible! Oh, and thanks for the information about Carl Rodd being an original Bookhouse Boy. Very cool! Great job, as usual!

There is no gas can but there is that wallpaper. The shape of the two Woodsmen's clothes and the middle one's hand, in the bright version of the image, is giving the illusion that there is a rectangular shape between them but there is nothing there. It's pretty obvious that Albert would change the coordinates on the picture, they know that Diane passes information to someone so maybe Albert and Gordon are setting up a trap? Because if not then why would they keep Diane around?
@harryportfelikartakredytow89077 жыл бұрын
Jason B Free you should have watched one of his last videos. In the episode with phones, bad Cooper writes everything in small letters without any punctuation, and Dianne recieves a text in big letters, with punctuation, probably sent from an iPhone. I think in this series it must mean something.
@EileenC16017 жыл бұрын
Jason B Free Her behavior is part of the mystery, no one thought that Diane would be like that and she probably wasn't until "that night" which we have yet to hear about. Anything could have happened between "that night" and where we pick up the story. She may be blackmailed or forced to cooperate in some way, maybe she doesn't know from whom the message really comes. Anyway I don't think she would willingly help Mr C and that's why I'm very interested and curious about this storyline.
@morbidorbits7 жыл бұрын
It could be the case that these texts were not sent to Dianne, but that she has a (FBI) way of intercepting (could result in capitalisation too)?
@EileenC16017 жыл бұрын
morbidorbits I doubt it considering that she was never an agent, she was Coop's secretary. And if she did intercept the message, how could she know what it was about and why would she answer it by giving away information? Plus it wouldn't explain the punctuation. In my opinion Diane is definitely in touch with Mr C, knowingly or not.

It's probably also important to note that the "dirty bearded man" that kill Hastings seems to be one of the same individuals as we saw back in the New Mexico flashback. Hard to be 100%, but if so that would indicate an un-human lifespan for these entities. And I'm sure it's important that Gordon referred to one of the bearded men as and "it", not a "him". That would indicate that Gordon knows more about the situation that we might have guessed.
@jumpingman81607 жыл бұрын
1 - yes they are evidently the same. 2 - well, they ain't people, so why call it "him"
@scottnelson20467 жыл бұрын
My question is why did he kill Hastings? He had already told everything. If he wanted to keep him quiet he would have killed him in the cell. What is the purpose to kill him now?
@AtticussAtticuss7 жыл бұрын
Well WE know that they aren't necessarily "people". Although, since Major Briggs evidently traveled through space and time via the Black Lodge, they COULD possibly be other normal "people" who entered the lodge and learned how to navigate through it or gained otherworldly powers from it. But my point is that Gordon already knows that "it" is not a human. How much Gordon really know about the Loges and the Blue Rose case is still unknown to the audience, but he apparently knows something. Also it seems like he suspected the "portal" might be at the zone since he asked Albert, "Think there's one in there?"
@jumpingman81607 жыл бұрын
You see, Gordon already knows what he saw. He isn't speculating about it because he knows it. He knows they aren't people who travelled via the lodges because they don't look like regular humans neither behave as such [he knew about Briggs and he had Hastings there with him to tell the differences].

*No more Q&A?* The scorch on the staircase that Gordon 'sees' mimics a similar scorch on a staircase left by Jeffries. Not exact but, I feel they're linked. Gordon was the 'dweller on the threshold' (or so, as the lore goes) when he was at the threshold (vortex) and was brought back abruptly by Albert. Does that mean his psyche was made aware of his darker self/shadow self. Cooper also had, as you mentioned, a similar hand shake during his own interactions with the dark side/shadow self/black lodge. Nice pick up on the Tremont photo and Gordon's experience. The Tremont's were giving Laura a photo representing the doorway into the dreamworld, this glimmer via the woodsman confirm the tangled web between the dreamworld, the shadow self, etc. Good pickup on all the 'sycamores' -- BTW, as I'm sure you know -- as was painted on Chet's car in FWWM, and a common phrase by the Arm... AND the title of episode 12 -- "Let's Rock"

Thanks for another fun video! There are some things I thought were odd. In the scene at Sycamore, when Diane first sees the woodsman lurking between the house and blue container the image is reversed. The container is to the left and the house is to the right. But the other shots and the overall scene they are the other way. In the discussion afterward Albert says the person he and Gordon saw was wearing a woolen cap. Diane seemed to agree. The woodsman did not have a hat on at all. The time seemed to be important in Twin Peaks and in Las Vegas. The woman in the car stressed that it was "way passed 6:30!" Then In Vegas it was said several times the meeting was at 5:30. I loved the Candie scene! I am not sure what it meant, if anything. Rodney seemed to be concerned about her (and the other girls'?) whereabouts. And she was so excited about the cars. The amount of money Dougie/Coop won at the casino changes. In Episode 10 Rodney says it was 447 thousand. In this episode he say it is 472 grand. Has it changed before? I can't remember when it was mentioned before what the amount was.

I think it's important to note that Albert didn't say Twin Peaks but instead said "a small town in the northwest" as if it was a meaningless detail. Obviously if those coordinates are in Twin Peaks this would be a huge piece of information for Cole and Albert. By hiding it it shows that they discussed it beforehand most likely to keep the detail from Diane.

You would think, but I have nothing to base that on other than, "why else would they name it that?"
@Nobodyreallyatall7 жыл бұрын
Sycamores are very common eastern United States trees, especially around rivers, with the iconic white bark on old trees, but do not seem to be native in Washington state let alone arid Vegas or South Dakota. But to add to the confusion in Europe some Maple trees are called "Sycamores" and in the Bible/Middle East there is a Fig sometimes called a "Sycamore Fig", which maybe has some symbolism depending on how you interpret such things, like some people might say that Eve would have been more likely to have eaten a Fig since they didn't have Apple trees in the region. Sycamores do not seem to have anything to do with Western Native Americans. The Sycamore hybrid "London Plane" is widely planted now as a public tree everywhere but that would have little to do with the situation. So, is the name "Sycamore" here an old European or Biblical reference?

My theory about the shaking hands: Lynch intended to reveal that the special oil (same one Log Lady brought to the Sheriff's department right after Annie was kidnapped) was secretly added to a cherry pie by Wimdon Earl as a necessary component to enable the travel to the red room for whomever he would decide to take with him. The shaking hands was a side effect.Then the show was cancelled and the idea died.

Sycamore... that street name is near the house that Cooper/Dougie comes in through the eletrical socket, and by the house where Hastings is killed and Gordon sees the portal in the sky. Maybe because the crossing point to the Red Room is by actual Sycamore trees, streets named Sycamore are also mild access points to the other side in some way? If we ever go back to NY or learn more about Mr. C's glass box building, maybe we'll discover its on a street named Sycamore.

I mean the first three slow notes he hits, listen to "Sycamore Trees" from like 2:35 and on ("And I see you...") After those notes I guess it floats away, but still. My thought was that it was that resemblance that caught Coop's interest in that scene. At least it caught me there.

I thought you might have mentioned the Hawk/log lady conversation where there is surely a reference to Hawk's visit to Glastonbury grove in the first/second episode when the log lady says to Hawk that he didn't tell her what happened or what he saw. If that is the case then something important must have happened which for some reason Hawk is keeping pretty close to his chest.
@troja997 жыл бұрын
I think the Log Lady's comment can quite as good refer to her "Something's missing and you have to find it." Some people speculate that the scene when Hawk is heading to Glastonbury Grove is not in sequence, meaning it hasn't happend yet (as well as the scene with Andy waiting on the road next to his police car). I found Magaret's call interesting for other reasons. She repeats some sentences, the first one especially is very remarkable "Hawk, can you hear me" as if it's not an acoustic matter but a cognitive as she would say "Do you understand what I am trying to tell you?" Beyond that, she isn't actually telling something new - "There's fire where you are going" is exactly, what Hawk just found out with the help of his self-adapting map. I think, there is something that Hawk misses or doesn't consider.

The singer in "Fire Walk with Me" also sings the song about "Under the Sycamore Trees" so I'd love to know what Lynch's obsession with sycamore trees is. I don't know of any occult connection with that species of trees. I know Lynch wrote the lyrics to that song. Is it about people being hung from the branches like when you get lynched (no pun intended). Or was he saying he'd see you in the branches like you become part of the trees themselves like the log lady's husband or Josie was trapped in the wood in the Great Northern? Also, have you done a video about the old lady and her grandson (Mrs. Tremond, also known as Mrs. Chalfont) who we saw sitting in the room above the convenience store in the Missing Pieces. Alot of people seem to feel the little boy grew up to be "Red" because both could do magic but why were they in that group of characters and were they good or evil? He certainly seems evil now. Were they helping Laura by giving her that picture that lead her dreamself into the Black Lodge or were they trying to help BOB ensnare her?

Yea like I'd said in my comment on your last video, I didn't think it was but it just reminded me of Laura's staircase. But after thinking about it, I'm wondering if Lynch is drawing some kind of comparison with the imagery or if there is a connection between the upstairs in the convenience store and Laura's upstairs. Could these two locations have merged in like a cross dimensional sense?

Gas tank? Major "died" in a fire?
@RobertSlover7 жыл бұрын
in episode 8 they were at a convenience store with what looked like gas pumps.

It's not a gas tank, it's just the way he holds his hand. I've seen a higher res picture of this and there isn't a gas tank/can in sight.

Wow. I never would have recognized that woman that stuck her head out the door and told Becky about Steven was ever that girl from the Love Boat. 3 decades and lots of Coke can really mess you up. Although usually cokeheads don't bloat up, they usually get skinny. But good catch either way. I feel old.

Did Donna have two sisters or did they just recast the part in "Fire Walk With Me"? I think that was a different girl playing that part. Of course they also had a different Donna so that's probably the case. Or maybe it was actually from the regular series and not from the film. I just remember a scene where Donna asked her sister to cover for her while she was sneaking out to meet James.

when bobby,shelly, and becky are in the R&R before the gunshot becky looks to norma for like a specific signal to console her mom. i got a strange feeling norma is at least aware of the shady/underworld of twin peaks drugs? prostitution? norma did recognise the dealer from the early episodes outside the window. norma is almost always going over bills etc. at her booth.

i noticed that 'big eds gas farm' [from secret history doco]is the convenience store the woodsmen come out of, raymond refers to the farm ,where he might see bad coop's again, in the nuclear scene we see the woodsman hanging out there with the cans of corn in window.??? i went back and for sure it was eds gas station he had neon signs season 1 .any thoughts

I don't know. Since the scene was cut with the nuclear test it always seemed like that was near the site. Hadn't thought about them being elsewhere.

Gordon says "now i remember, i saw dirty bearded men in a room". Well may be its not a memory from this episode he is talking about ... could be from that scene above the convenient store if he was there. cause the stairs dont look like a room...

And let's not forget that prominent palm tree in "The Zone" in North Dakota. I'm now convinced that's another clue... You can see it at 9:50 in this video. There it is, pretty much in the middle of the shot, there's no way that's a mistake. Connection to Las Vegas?
@BAINES037 жыл бұрын
You never know with Lynch. It could be a clue or just bad production. The Ike the Spike hotel exteriors were shot outside a hotel in LA (hollywood blvd) near where I live. You can still see a street sign advertisement that says LA on it.... when it was supposed to be las vegas. Sometimes what we deem as clues are just mistakes.

When Carl's VW Microbus arrives it's an early split windscreen/shield model. When he and Shelly are riding in (what we assume) would be the same vehicle, it's a later model without the split screen. My friend says continuity error, I say David Lynch. Are we watching multiple realities all in one go? Biggest clue being the end credits of Ep 7 of course...

I like these videos. Actually over wow Lynch wow- the narrator gets to be a little much after a while, but I'm sure it's not his real voice. Here it sounds like an open forum and sort of a - oh yeah. Should see that again. It gets confusing about Bill having consulted with Major Briggs- did he die at the hands of winding Earle? What was that disturbing silhouette right when Briggs disappears, and cooper is startled about the disappearance? And- who ends up killing bill (not kill bill, his last name just skipped my mind) but was it a woodsman? Don't think that was Bob, and not evil coop. Was it the same thing that was walking down the hall of the morgue. Remember that ?

I've always found that the wallpaper in Mrs Tremond's picture was similar to the wallpaper in the hallways at One Eyed Jacks. Looking backing on it, it's not completely the same, however it is similar enough to resemble the hint of wallpaper in the shot of the three woodmen on the stairs. 66.media.tumblr.com/b8f660fe0ac7842c62732022fef22cfd/tumblr_o523juCtfT1rhustio1_1280.jpg

I still don't know if Mark Frost is genuinely bad at math or if the whole of Secret History of Twin Peaks is the result of unreliable narrators. Carl Rodd is supposedly in the same age group as the Log Lady both being around 7 in 1947 but HDS is in his early 90's. Maybe the character Carl is younger than the actor sure but he mentions smoking for 75 years, which could have been an ironic statement or something. Now he's an original Bookhouse Boy? So confused, I hope the next book in October explains at least some of the discrepancies from the novel.
@garycottier927 жыл бұрын
Yeah Frost said that the inconsistencies in the book will be 'explained' but I'm not holding my breath on that one.
