Peter Allen was my godfather, he started out singing with my Dad, Chris Bell, on Australian TV. This song was one of his favourites.

I hope Peter looked after you well.The Godfather Act is one that is hoped to never be called upon. You might have been too young to have known him well but I did and he was an absolute champion of a bloke. The Allen Bros? why not!

Omg so thrilled to read this. I directed a production of Boy From Oz about 8 years ago in San Francisco and my "Chris Bell" was terrific, he stepped in just 10 days before we opened (our original guy had to leave the cast on short notice) and learned his part perfectly. One of my favorite numbers in the show was the duet between Peter and Chris called Love Crazy which is funny because I don't even know if Chris ever actually recorded the song with Allen! Anyway, I don't know if your father is still with us although he would only be about 85 i guess but if he is please let him know that an American producer/ director loved his part in The Boy From Oz!

Hi again! Another funny thing about "degrees of separation"! I just saw this KZbin clip from an early Aussie TV show with Peter, Liza and your dad which included a clip of a song Peter and Chris did called Big D from Frank Loesser's musical Most Happy Fella! My sister in law Sophie starred in the Broadway revival in 1993 of Most Happy Fella! It's a really REALLY small world! kzbin.info/www/bejne/gGXbpWOjjd6cqcUfeature=shared

How can one possibly understand the Genius that was Peter Allen? A complicated man who just wanted to experience all life had to offer and boy did he live it large and well. He put some of it into song that will last until Eternity.

I read they played this at JOAN RIVERS funeral as well. I met Joan and Peter. Peter performed at STUDIO 54 and I got to speak with him. I even got to play the piano that he played that night! It was special because the clientele stood and listened quietly to Peter's performance. Of course I had to play OVER THE RAINBOW... Thank you Peter for the gifts you gave me. I still cherish them, always. You are missed.

We had the pleasure of seeing Peter Allen 4 times in The City, (San Francisco) in the late 60s and the 70s. I was emotionally drained after his performances. Incredible and Powerful energy he throws out to his audience. Rest In Eternal Peace Dear Man. 🙏🏾❤️🌈💙😇

My Mum took me along to see Peter Allen onstage in Melbourne in the mid 80's. I am so glad that She did and I feel honoured to have had this privilege to witness his magic, even though I was a teenager at the time, I still knew that He was special. There are some songs that give me goose bumps and bring tears to my eyes. He truly and forever is The Boy From Oz. Love 'im. xo May He RIP

You can tell Peter honestly loved Judy and had a real respect for her. My mum was a huge Judy fan, growing up in Aus we watched together every musical she was in. Peter is a beautiful singer and writer, even now when we hear the song, “I Still Call Australia Home” he wrote, many of us still get emotional. Another fav he wrote that Olivia Newton John sang, “I honestly Love You” another of his songs with heart touching lyrics. They are together now, but we can still hear them both 💞

Quiet please, there's a lady on stage. She may not be the latest rage, But she's singing, and she means it. And she deserves a little silence. Quiet please, there's a woman up there, And she's been honest through her songs Long before your consciousness was raised. Now doesn't that deserve a little praise. So put your hands together, help her along, All that's left of the singers, all that's left of the song. Stand for the ovation, And give her one last celebration. Quiet please, there's a person up there, Who's singing of the sins that none of us could bear To hear for ourselves, Now give her your respect if nothing else. So put your hands together, help her along, All that's left of the singers, all that's left of the song. Rise to the occasion, And give her one last celebration. Quiet please, there's a lady on stage. Conductor, turn the final page. When it's over, we can all go home. She lives on on the stage alone. So put your hands together, help her along, All that's left of the singers, all that's left of the song. Stand for the ovation, And give her one last celebration. Put your hands together, help her along, Let's just stay here all night; let's sing every song. Won't you rise, rise to the occasion, Yes, give her, one last, just one last celebration.

Why did he marry Liza if he was gay? Maybe he was bi? I know its personal but I was always curious. Did he try to go straight? Her Mom married Liza's Dad who was gay as well. I dont get it. Curious what your opinions are.
@elspethcoogan14994 жыл бұрын
Christine Coca In an earlier message you said you yourself married hoping you would be ‘fixed at the altar”. Maybe Peter felt the same? It also wasn’t easy for performers to come out as gay at the time. Apparently, Peter felt able to do this in the 1970s and go on to have a same-sex partner after divorcing Liza.
