I would still pay for stuff that was made in Australia but Knob Hawke signed the Australian Manufacturing Industries death warrant in the 80’s but he’s a great bloke because he skulled beer and gave us a public holiday 🤷‍♂️

This is the Australia I remember and love. It's gone but I reminisce. I actually stopped following motorsport completely once that "old guard" retired. I couldn't face watching the sport devolve into what it is today (with apologies to people who like it - each to their own). This weekend I will be watching one of my Bathurst DVDs from the old era. Maybe 1979...

There's a replacement for the 1000 now, the Production Car 6 hour in April. Different classes, the grid spread out back up conrod, and proper racing. It's like a dip back into the 60s-79s-80s.

Those were the days when this sport was exhilarating and truly dangerous and these drivers were spectacularly brave and foolish. Neither that track or those cars are what they drive today. The man the legend the king of the mountain. Always was always will be. Thank you DD for the nostalgic journey to a better time in our country.

Take me back to the times! Back when nobody was worried too much about "climate change" and forced you to drive EVs made in China, instead you can drive an Aussie built V8. Man, I missed those days... And back when we felt patriotic about our country, instead of whinging about how Australia was "stolen" while having a Welcome to Country shoved down our throats every 5 minutes

We had the world’s best cars & all made here!! I grew up in EH holden’s & HQ’s that mum had always taken us to the beach in them as little kids,am radio blaring, best days ,Australia was a such a kool country, it’s changed so much & it’s sad we’ll never see it that way again 😢

Met him and his son in Tassie during Targa Tasmania. They were driving tf out of the new Monaro. He gave me an autographed poster and it's sill pride of place up on the wall in the man cave to this day

I seriously don’t think Holden would’ve sold as many cars as they did, particularly Commodores, if it wasn’t for Brocky. He was so admired & respected amongst Holden supporters all thru his career.

Can't watch v8 supercargo any more just so boring to technical and drivers we can't relate too and the cars are so technically advanced they are beyond boring. All saying race on Sunday sell on Monday. You can't buy these cars so the passion is gone

Great way to portray the feeling of the optimistic Australia I remember. We weren't constantly being criticised for being white and male and women were generally happier. And this tribute is far better than that ridiculous mini series they broadcast a few years ago on Brock.

Lived in Springvale back in the day and went to 7 Sundowns in a row as a kid..Brocky came out from back of the pits and signed autographs..he signed my $2 note which I still have.

Went down to south Melbourne HDT headquarters in the day about 78 with a mate we were about 12-13 years asked if he was around yes he was came out got slick off 05 and signed it. We catch the train home wth it ..! Awesome

My Dad was the NSW state promotion manager for Philip Morris (Marlboro) and used to organise Bathurst every year. He'd bring the mock ups of the race cars home and every kid within a 2km radius would appear at our house. Not bad for the days of no social media, just word of mouth.
