I have a great Peter Frampton story. I'll try to keep it short. When I was 17 in 1972, I went on a summer backpacking trip in Europe after high school. One night I went into a London vegetarian restaurant alone, and the waitress seated me with this young, long-haired, handsome chap. It turned out to be Frampton, and I had seen Humble Pie the year before live. He talked with me over dinner, took me out for a ride in his Aston Martin, drove me to his flat, played acoustic guitar for me, and gave me a Promo copy of his first solo album. The nicest guy in the world. I swear this is true.

back then, when music was made to make people feel good. (and the '70s are outstanding anyway). That is not the case anymore. nowadays it is like any wicked noise that seems to have a recognizable structure, is all that it takes to consider it as great/cool, as long it is weird and strange. the more the better. I do not have tunnel vision. I like all genres, soul rock funk, soul, jazz, and classic when it's a great piece of music and makes me feel good.

If one really wants to hear true Frampton Tone ck out Humble Pie Rockin the Fillmore Live Lp. You will even hear the lick at 2:00 in this track , where he originated it from in the HP's "I Don't Need No Doctor " Its about 3,30 into it. Pretty much all of where Frampton's awesome leads and sound developed from this time period of the double live record. Let me tell you something they were loud crunchy and honest musicians. His screamin solo in Stone Cold Fever (live) says it all !

I'm digging this new Polka-Hip Hop, Heavy Metal Country, Acid easy listening and grunge muzak but not a big fan of Electronica Gregorian Chants and House and Techno Dirges. I totally get what you're saying. I am a crazy huge fan but he doesn't play his songs with the same balls out rock energy. He improvises all his solos he never plays them the same way twice. Which is both good and bad. Sometimes i feel he drags out the energy too much and loses the POWER of the song. Like on DYFLWD he now plays Jazz leads instead of flat out ROCK leads the whole song loses much of its energy that we have come to love about it. I know he is a crazy Jazz fan but it just doesn't WORK on his rock songs. Watching his MSG final show it was WONDERFUL to see him play this song but he dragged out the ending so long that he nearly had to come BACK to simply end the song. He ended it and then he ended it again. I would kill to see him play the song EXACTLY as it was done of FCA. The EXACT same leads. But sometimes i watch him play it and during the first solo instead of that fabulous energy ramping UP in the song he is ramping it DOWN with a Jazz lead. I just GROAN!!!!!!!!!! I want to scream at the top of my lungs.. PLAY A FUCKING ROCK SOLO!!!!! Hit the TREBLE switch make like you own the joint like back in 76!! I know he has it in him but he doesn't let himself go there anymore. And his keyboard player is awful. He ain't no Bob Mayo. He might know how to play the instrument but he doesn't have the vibe.

great version loved it since it came out but always makes me laugh any time any band/artist covers a Stones' tune; you can predict the comments. Better than the Stones' version! Sorry, no. There's lots of great Stones' covers out there but none are as good as the originals I mean get serious, people. Same goes for Dylan tunes including, yes, All Along the Watchtower. Nobody even seems to know the original by Dylan, half the world thinks it's a Hendrix tune (and Hendrix worshipped Dylan). But the Dylan original is still better, if less known . Listen to it sometime. All that said, it's all a matter of taste and to each their own.

I think the different versions of both songs are all good, in their own ways.

Let's see if I remember correctly there was ONLY ACOUSTIC GUITAR. The electric guitars actually ruin it and it's waaaaaaaaaaaay too slow

Dreadful: it is so bad is just funny. Drumming is an insult on Mr. Watts

An insult to Charlie Watts drumming?? You're talking the man who does not alter his tempo on almost every Stones song? Good grief. John Siomos would wipe the floor with Watts.

@@johndonnellan5794 Not at all. Charlie plays the exact same beat on almost every song the Stones play live. Just a great big bore.

Charlie Watts is an unbelievably boring drummer. He does EXACTLY the same beat on EVERY Song.. COmparing John Siomos to Charlie Watts is a FLAT OUT Insult. Buddy you do not know what good drumming is. The off beats in this song are huge. Charlie would not have a HOPE of following this.
