Yes. I just watched a video that this doctor talks about how this song to him is about the child version of us. How we abandon that version of us. How to heal we have to reconnect with that child. Lost my wife to cancer in less than three months. This song means so much to me. 'In her eyes, the light, the heat, in her eyes, in her eyes, I felt complete, in her eyes'. Thank you for making me cry and also feel better. She was my world, and our 2 daughters world, gone too soon at 42 from cancer. Thank you for your likes/loves. My pain and that of my family's is no less than anyone's and reading the incredible comments from others about what this song means to them too made my heart sing and my heart and love goes out to you all. I'm blown away that my comment was highlighted and I've no idea if this is actually Peter Gabriel's official page, nor do I care. The honour and respect goes to him for making such beautiful music. I don't think I should admit this, but my late wife and I would make love to the album 'Passion' a lot over our amazing almost 17 years together. In your eyes, the light the heat, your eyes.... My wedding song, but I swear it was playing in my head the first time I met my love, "The light the heat ... I am complete." It really was love at first conversation. So cheesy, but true. I just knew. And a lot of people thought we wouldn't make it because he was six years younger. Here we are, though, almost 25 years later, still going strong, two boys, two dogs, military life. Keep on fighting the good fight. He's always been the one. There was never a question.

@@shellyfagan5794 I remember Phil Collins in an interview. The interviewer said, wow your songs are so deep so meaningful, where does that come from? His reply was no where I just write they don't mean any thing. I personally thought that was a fabulous answer. Singers writers etc aren't spiritual masters, sure they are creative but we all are. The power to give birth is more of a spiritual connection to the universe than writing or singing a song.

The Lyrics... Love I get so lost, sometimes Days pass and this emptiness fills my heart When I want to run away I drive off in my car But whichever way I go I come back to the place you are All my instincts, they return And the grand facade, so soon will burn Without a noise, without my pride I reach out from the inside In your eyes The light the heat In your eyes I am complete In your eyes I see the doorway to a thousand churches In your eyes The resolution of all the fruitless searches In your eyes I see the light and the heat In your eyes Oh, I want to be that complete I want to touch the light The heat I see in your eyes Love, I don't like to see so much pain So much wasted and this moment keeps slipping away I get so tired of working so hard for our survival I look to the time with you to keep me awake and alive And all my instincts, they return And the grand facade, so soon will burn Without a noise, without my pride I reach out from the inside In your eyes The light the heat In your eyes I am complete In your eyes I see the doorway to a thousand churches In your eyes The resolution of all the fruitless searches In your eyes I see the light and the heat In your eyes Oh, I want to be that complete I want to touch the light, The heat I see in your eyes In your eyes in your eyes In your eyes in your eyes In your eyes in your eyes

I'm suspended in time, it's 1986, I'm in my room, listening to the radio and this song comes on, when I open my eyes, this will be in a mind trip, I'm 15.....sigh, music suspends you from aging, it transports you back to the age you were when you first heard a song. Hey, I was single then and just as dorky and awkward 😅

Just imagine how PG must have felt listening to the first playback of this in the studio. I wonder how long it took him to realize he had just finished one of the greatest love songs of all time.
@rael2099

Well, tbh PG wasn't quite pleased with this version as it was Daniel Lanois choice to trim the song and give it cohesion. Peter's live version of the song is the one he wanted to be in So. I guess there's a studio recording of that version in some bootlegs.

This is a very beautiful song! A true example of how hard a man tries to keep his relationship with his woman surviving. A man who truly loves whom he loves. All the ups and downs are just a part of the love he has for the one he loves. Rules are meant to be bent, obstacles are meant to be overcome, all in the name of love.

Love, I get so lost sometimes Days pass, and this emptiness fills my heart When I want to run away, I drive off in my car But whichever way I go, I come back to the place you are All my instincts, they return The grand façade, so soon will burn Without a noise, without my pride I reach out from the inside In your eyes, the light, the heat In your eyes, I am complete In your eyes, I see the doorway In your eyes, to a thousand churches In your eyes, the resolution In your eyes, of all the fruitless searches In your eyes In your eyes, oh, I see the light and the heat In your eyes, the light, the heat In your eyes Oh, I wanna be that complete In your eyes, the light, the heat In your eyes I wanna touch the light, the heat I see in your eyes Love, I don't like to see so much pain So much wasted, and this moment keeps slipping away I get so tired, working so hard for our survival I look to the time with you to keep me awake and alive And all my instincts, they return And the grand façade, so soon will burn Without a noise, without my pride I reach out from the inside In your eyes your eyes, your eyes In your eyes In your eyes, the light, the heat In your eyes, I am complete In your eyes, I see the doorway To a thousand churches In your eyes, the resolution In your eyes, of all the fruitless searches Oh, I see the light and the heat In your eyes Oh, I wanna be that complete In your eyes I want to touch the light, the heat I see in your eyes In your eyes In your eyes In your eyes [Youssou N'Dour:] Sa bet chi lamp, chi tangaay, sa bet maangi ci biir Sa bet chi lamp, chi tangaay, sa bet maangi ci biir Sa bet chi lamp, chi tangaay, sa bet maangi ci biir Sa bet chi lamp, chi tangaay, sa bet maangi ci biir Sa bet chi lamp, chi tangaay, sa bet maangi ci biir In your eyes In your eyes In your eyes

One of the last times I saw my dad alive and well, I walked into the living room of my former home to find him on the couch like usual. There he was, watching the secret world live concert on DVD. I sat through the entire thing with him. This song was his absolute favorite out of them all. I’ll never forget that night, nor this song. One day, I’ll share it with my future wife and eventually, kids of my own. God bless Peter Gabriel and anyone listening.
