All his life Garrett fought with politicians to become one of them in the end. He betrayed himself, he betrayed his band mates, he humiliated Midnight Oil and made its legacy meaningless. What a disgrace.

Peter's a personal musical legend to me, but his positions seem fickle. One one hand he says: Government will be essential to incentivizing action to respond effectively to climate change, but govt. would be ineffective to manage the storage of nuclear waste; He says govt. is essential for energy development, but SOME energy solutions would take too long *because* of the regulatory process; He suggests civilization is existential danger of nuclear weapons here on Earth, but Musk et. al are dangerous for being distracted by their space colonization ambitions; He praises Germany's ability to shut down their nuclear plants, but glosses over that they tanked their economy in the process. I hate to say it, but he sounds like he's got an axe to grind with the rich and successful, with 'distasteful' energy solutions like nuclear, and will accept no energy solution that doesn't require cutbacks and degrowth- strategies that would negatively impact the poor and developing countries the most. These are inflexibilities that don't make for an effective political leader.
