@@vanu49sounds like an electric( the even sustain), with flat wound strings( gives an upright smoothness). Just not the typical Fender bass sound. Perhaps it is even a fret less electric? Jack had all kinds of neat gear. Poor guys got their gear stolen so much back in the day, they were just struggling at this time. So good to here this, thank you for posting!

I hear this and can “almost” forgive rod stewart for the crap he produced from 76 onwards. His voice and greeney’s economic but so expressive guitar are such a joy to hear. No gimmicks - no computers - no autotune …. Just pure talent and lot of soul

Now this is a super group. I saw Rod a few times in that era, with Jeff Beck, and thought him one of the finest blues singers of his generation. Was saddened about his drift into more mainstream music but he still knocked out some classics. Peter Green was the finest blues guitarist I ever saw and would have paid good money to see him play with Rod in those halcyon days 😎

He did two great albums with Jeff Beck in TRUTH and BECK-OLA, and during that time recorded lead vocals for three tracks in a PYTHON LEE JACKSON session (April 1969) resulting in the later release of IN A BROKEN DREAM (1972) which matches this voice but in an even better song.

Pete was one of the best, most underrated singers of his time, but ever since I heard Jeff Beck’s Truth album (back in the seventies) I knew Rod could really do the blues.
