Coming home from work I passed the Albert Hall and stopped at the poster of upcoming gigs , and there's Peter Green playing that night . I bought two tickets at the box and rushed home , told my son to get dressed and pressed I had a surprise for him . Our late tickets were for the no seats attic , who cares , we got to see both of our fav player play Man of the World and Albatross , through tears . Made an old man very happy .

My dad loved this song ,and when it was rereleased in the 70s in the UK he'd always ask me to turn it up when the radio played it while we were at work when I worked for him. I miss you so much Daddy love you ,I wish I'd told you that when you were alive, if you were here I'd tell you everyday.

Peter Green: Best British blues guitarist who ever picked up a guitar. I've been playing for almost sixty years and have yet to hear someone surpass his feeling, note choice, and phrasing. Absolutely untouchable in his prime. Rest easy, Peter, you left us a LOT of amazing music to listen to and marvel at.

I saw him with this lineup about 15 years ago. Nigel Watson was playing a lot of the lead parts, but every now and again Peter Green would play or sing something that was a total flash of brilliance. Yes, Peter Green messed up in his life, but he is still here with us. And just remember what exactly this man has contributed to music over the years before even considering a single criticism. If this man never played again, and let us all hope that that never happens, he has earned his right to be called a guitar ledgend on a par with Clapton, Hendrix, Beck, and the rest.

Brilliant summation and totally agree with you. Not to digress too too much, most of the lead on Albatross was in fact played by Danny Kirwan. Saw them live when the record first came out and was somewhat surprised when Danny took most of the lead. Peter was as usual very giving to his fellow musicians and played along masterfully with Danny et al. :-)

Met Peter Green in a dressing room at a teen club they were booked into for two nights in Michigan. Handed him my Stratocaster, he handed me his Les Paul. He had the strap screwed down on the upper bout. A nice chunk of leather, an old cinch from a saddle. You can see it on many of the videos from around that time. Maybe one of the most quietly charismatic men I've ever encountered. My admiration deepened from the songs he wrote, he was really tuned in to the big power of the universe at that time. A fragile soul, and just a lovely man. All we local Michigan guitar stranglers were sitting down front, with Peter and Danny Kirwin blowing our hair back with Twin Reverbs. We started to take bets on when Mick Fleetwood was going to crash a cymbal. Me, Geri Zubal, Phil Bliss and Thomas Weschler, some other fellows too. Two nights of inspiration, and amazement. Great band,,,great,,,

This reminded me of Sun King by the Beatles, and then I read this song was George Harrison's inspiration for it. Harrison said: "At the time, 'Albatross' (by Fleetwood Mac) was out, with all the reverb on guitar. So we said, 'Let's be Fleetwood Mac doing Albatross, just to get going.' It never really sounded like Fleetwood Mac... but that was the point of origin."
