He’s using 4 abilities together in this scene. Matts mind reading his emphatic ability combined with sylars intuitive aptitude and telekinesis. He’s eliminating the variables of Nathan possibly lying to him but entering his head whilst feeling his emotions and trying to understand why he thinks what he’s doing is right but to get a better picture, he cut his head open as that’s where the signal is coming from. He didn’t need to do that but taking something apart and putting it back together to see and know how it came to be is sylars power. Nathan never had a chance of lying because Peter would know straight away from feeling him and reading him and just needed to know why he thought he knew best. This was by far the strongest variation of Peter. Stronger than alternate timeline future peter as future peter didn’t have the hunger

See but thats the reason Peter lost his powers. The only ones who could stop him if he used his powers smart would be the Haitian or another person with a power like Peter. Even Sylar wasnt able to beat him in the end. Remember he just easily beat up Sylar? Sylar gives Peter any new powers Sylar had everytime they meet plus Peters powers from others. The writers wrote themselves into a corner with his huge power so they were kinda forced to make him dumb I guess lol. Better to make him weaker so stories can use one power at a time to get creative about solutions.

What was the point in Peter getting Intuitive Aptitude?. It was apparently needed to understand the cause and effect of time travel, but once Peter acquires the ability he never uses it. Other than manifesting the hunger, he never makes use of the ability for productive purposes, and he actually loses his Empathic Mimicry because of it.

We kinda already knew how overwhelming the hunger could be with Sylar, hell even with the shanti virus in season 2, he still suffered from it. My point is the show told us the act of Peter acquiring the ability was for something that was never really accomplished. I still don't understand why Peter even needed Sylar's ability in the first place, I mean the whole thing is not that complicated: there's this guy or group in the present trying to create a formula that ends up destroying the world. Solution: find the guy or group and stop them from creating said formula. It's not something that requires an ability to understand things, its plain common sense. Peter doesn't even need Intuitive Aptitude to find Pinehearst, he just uses Telepathy and Sylar's help.

Even then, how was Sylar's ability supposed to help? Future Peter, with all those extra years of experience, must have known that Intuitive Aptitude was way too dangerous and that it was going to be almost impossible for his younger self to control it (Future Mohinder knew this for example). What he should have done is to work together with Peter to find the creators of the formula on his time, collect valuable information and then stop them in the present. Instead, he sent him to collect a highly unstable ability that was almost certain to backfire than to actually work.

Peter actually had less abilities then his father (14 abilities, his father had after obsorbing peter's abilitis a total of 16). His father also had a more natural understanding of the abilities and could easily access them all faster and control them faster too. Peter always struggled and had to learn to control them, while Arthur had natural understanding. When Sylar came in and stopped the bullet, Rene still focussed on Peter's father. Because he was more powerfull then Sylar.

I loved this show but on everything it was soo inconsistent. Examples here, Haitian who struggled to to hold off 1 Arthur Petrelli, nearly passed out because of the amount of powers he had to hold back from one person is comfortable standing in the corner holding off 2 Peter’s, Claire and then Nathan. Also it’s explained his ability is passive so he can’t turn it off. It’s like Claire’s healing, it’s automatic. Unless he’s knocked out then it turns off. Also, he left from the room, and old Peters powers kicked in which means Future Peter should automatically healed. They have no explanation on why he would remain dead. We’ve seen before when characters with healing would “die” for an extended period of time and then when their brain recovers, the rest of the bodies heal, ex: Sylar and Peter getting stabbed in the back of the head, and “dying”. I know it’s a bit much but I’m just calling a spade, a spade

A lot of people complain about the massive power nerf that Peter had, but it was kind of neccessary, but at same time overkill... Sylar and Peter were a foil for each other, as long as they had an equal amount of skills to play with. Sylar suffered a reset and nerf and he never regained his abilities, he went from gaining hunter/offensive ability for more survival abilities so most of his 2nd skill set was defensive Now... for Peter, it would have been better if the Formula reactivated his abilities and he had to start from zero like Sylar. Ability Replication is far too inferior to Sylar to keep him on as a foil for Sylar. Not to mention Sylar with his ability was able to understand other peoples power and fully utilise it, peter struggles to even learn how his powers work and basically had to self teach himself how to use it.

the more and more that I was the future Peter the more and more I can't believe we didn't see his full fight with SYLAR when he walked through the walls and they both charged up there hands unfortunately the regular time line Peter never gets as strong as the one from an alternate future. alternate future where you can just inject yourself with powers I'm pretty sure wouldn't be random like the one military Soldier Nathan talk to if you have the right amount of money you can choose your ability. intuitive aptitude and telekinesis I pay a lot for that even though I already have telekinesis on a smaller scale

Peter has a different power from his father. Peter copies powers but only if he has an emotional connection. Arthur steals powers upon physical touch. As soon as Arthur hugged his son Peter's powers are gone.

The powers are not the same. Peter's power (Empathetic mimicry) allows him to replicate/duplicate powers, while Arthur's power steals the power away, leaving them powerless. Arthur took Adam's power and due to the lack of his healing, Adam died within seconds.

Going back to season 1 we notice that all of the powers Peter manifest first are those that belong to his family (flight, dreaming the future). We also see Peter use powers by accident that he doesn't know he has due to how quickly and automatically empathic mimicry works. So it stands to reasons that Peter would have copied his father's power before season 1 even started but he simply never knew what it was or how to access it.

This show was exactly like a true story I read about somewhere, where a person built a really nice house on top of a beautiful mountainside. Unfortunately, they got wandering in the dark one night and fell off the side to their death. Either that or it's a good analog to the story of Moses wandering in the desert for 40 years, lol. It started out so good, got even better over time, but the wandering story finally took its toll and became just too bizarre and aimless for its own good. Even during its peak, a lot of my friends complained that they couldn't make sense of it. It eventually just needed to accept that it wasn't near as good as it had been, and that there was no saving it. It's a shame, man I _loved_ this show, but I guess not everything can go 14 seasons without losing its touch.

I think it was a terrible luck for this show that Hayden and Milo had such incredible chemistry but they made their characters relatives. So there was no way for creating some storyline for them later on.

I dont get why he got the ''Hunger'', hunger for what, it was psychotic tic that made Sylar need to feed more powers. But Peter already subconsciously gains whatever power hes next to.

Peter took sylar's power to understand time travel. Since sylars original power was to understand how things work.

@@filds1 Thats not what I said at all. I wondered why Peter would get ''The Hunger'', that isnt apart of the power, thats just a psychotic tick that Sylar developed from killing people. The cutting the head off thing, thats something Sylar developed, we know because of his time with Elle Bishop, that he can do the exact same thing that Peter can do, but as a criminally psychotic individual, he chooses not, and decides to be a killer. The ''Hunger'' by logic shouldnt be tied to the power, it should be tied to the individual, since he only developed it after killing so many people.
