Really spot on that in a Chinese environment, scholarly achievement is highly respected by students while in the west, those students are looked down on as nerds!!!

Americans always have this inherent hostility towards the Chinese political system. You got to understand that a democratic society can exist in different forms and having elections doesn’t make a society democratic and a society without elections doesn’t mean that society is not democratic. 😅

Spot on, Democracy is a Greek derivation “Demos”=people, “Cracy”=rule, so rule on behalf of the people...ie elected politicians to pursue policies that benefit that majority of the people.. The US politicians pass policies that benefit those that provided political funding ie it passes policies that benefit the rich elites and/or corporations. In addition, 90% of the states always elect the same party since WW2!!! So effectively less than 50,000 voters decide the US President in the 5 or 6 swing states!!

What you describe has been happening around the world. I was a poor boy in England in the 1950s, worked in technology in the 1960s, taught technology at college in Australia in the 1990s, am now retired as a reasonably wealthy man in 2024. What happened to me is now happening to millions around the world, The internet has changed us all, some for the better and possibly some for worse. What we now need is a new type of society that is more caring, but who knows if that will happen?

Every country has its own educational problems. Look at Japan, South Korea, and India. They all have their own historical and cultural factors. The problems cannot be solved quickly. It is good to improve slowly.

I think american need also to learn from the chinese what is democracy, its not always about u can talk shits and demand ur personal rights as much as u want, its also how to respect other’s desicion, to listen what other people think and fullfilling the basic need of common people.

I like this guy’s opinions about China. He appears to be quite objective and honest. Unfortunately, politics in China had driven him away from the country.

It's a him and you problem, not China's problem. You don't like China? Go pound sand.

Politics and ill will in the US towards China have really started to turn off the Chinese. The US is a mess.
Leave politics behind if anyone wishes to stay in China.
