It's one of the best licensed games ever made imo. In a time where about 80% of games based in movies were pretty much garanteed to either be terrible or just incredibly bland, this one really stood out as not just a rare good licensed title but also simply a good game, period. I would honestly change nothing about it other than maybe improve the AI of the NPC characters.

I liked almost everything about it; the good variety of beasts which prevents the game from becoming stale, the eerie atmosphere, and the fact that it's pretty much two games in one: the human segments are survival horror where you play as a frail city boy lost in a merciless world and put emphasis on outsmarting your foes instead of taking them on fair and square, while the Kong segments are a fighting game where you suddenly play as the strongest beast around and get to smash all those creatures that previously hunted you down to bits.

Picked it up today, only experience was playing it on a demo display at a game store. This game has aged incredibly well. Very fun and pretty brutal with weighty kills despite the lack of hard violence. It is very fun linear experience with an exciting combat experience.

The ammo system still amazes me to this day. You get an option to not have a hud and instead have your character say out loud how many mags they have left, something you dont see today even with other games who try to do the more immersive hudless route

Although the Xbox 360 version has the best visuals, this one is still my favourite because of those cutscenes after the levels that reveal your location within the island! I love how they show your progress and the quick flashbacks of the beasts and events of the level you completed, almost as if your character is suffering from nightmares of his experiences in the island.

It's weird how the 360 version has character models that are so visually inaccurate though. You should check out a graphics comparison for this game. There's one right in the pinned comment. I think Ps2 and original Xbox takes the cake for these stellar character models alone. Though I can't deny the environmental beauty of the 360 version. Great game.

1. I've played a lot of video games in my 28 years, but this was my favorite childhood video games. Even more than the first Sly Cooper. 2. Probably spent more hours on this than any other game. It's such a straightforward game, but the action is so intense you just can't help but want to play it multiple times. & 3. Out of all the creatures in this game, the scorpion-looking things scared the FUG outta me. Still do.
