His diction was always perfect. He never interrupted. He knew which details were important. He was a great man, one of the kindest and most courteous of gentlemen, and he now walks among the giants of the world's performers!

It's a shame to refer to him as a boozer as if that was all he ever did. That was just a part of his youth like many youths. He was a film star and actor and one of the very best and I too believe he was a kind gentleman, trying to include everyone and being gracious to others. RIP Peter

The chopper pilot was Gilbert Chomat and he died a few days later...Read Sian Phillips' book (public places) about the story.It is well detailed

Never been a big fan of the tonight show with Jay Leno, Letterman was always more my style but I really like how Leno let's O'Toole tell his whole story without interrupting. Not even with the standard fake laughing that is accustomed in these shows.

Wow...Leno is a really terrible interviewer. To have a brilliant story teller like Peter O'Toole on your show and not engage with him more is a shame. Letterman's interviews with O'Toole are all highly entertaining.
