Not at all. I thought it would be more direct, not quite so catty. I was more surprised by Dick's use of the word militant. I almost made it halfway through

His standout comment regarding women was how their essential, pure femininity has the power to transform society. He's obviously right with that statement. I think many today argue that women have just tried to become like men, which, if true, contributes to the "masculine mess" mentioned here. However, O'Toole definitely says a lot here without much clarity.

Brilliant scathing articulate insight from O'Toole. He takes no prisoners and gives credit where it's due without deference to political correctness.

Unpopular opinion: Lawrence of Arabia is, arguably, the most overrated classic picture of all time. I was 2 hours in, they were still in the desert, and I questioned every recommendation zI’ve ever read. Love O’Tool acting, do not love that movie, Al all, Anyone else have s difficult time with the movie?

It's a biopic. It can be quite difficult to watch because the storytelling is linear, it's largely true to life and so it doesn't have the dozens unexpected twists and turns a fictional story would have, and you know where it's going most of the time anyway. So it all comes down to enjoying the cinematography and the portrayals. Which are amazing in every sense of the word.

These are some rather disappointing takes. So what if a film takes its time? So what if a film takes mostly in one place? Great filmmaking is not a competition to cram in as many "things happening" as possible. A large part of slower paced cinema is mood, so that is to say I can understand if certain people simply don't vibe with it or don't find the subject matter interesting, but that doesn't make it any less an objectively well-constructed film. It remains one of my favourites, and it's rare that I come across a film as long as Lawrence of Arabia that seems to go by as quickly, personally.

@@optimisticbeard1485 You are correct. It is one of the most beautiful tragedies of all time. Lawrence of Arabia will always be a masterpiece.
