Peter from the original comics is indeed a dork and perhaps not the most popular guy around (he was bullied just by Flash and his cronies but he always fought back) but he's by no means a pushover. That's why his portrayal in the Raimi films is so insulting, because Maguire makes Peter look like not just a dork but the over the top Big Bang Theory kind of basement-dwelling nerd who wears glasses, is literally a joke to everybody around him and remains a virgin for his entire life. I would never in a million years believe the Maguire Peter would ever want to risk his life in order to fight crime, he'd probably crawl under the bed and cry.

@@yarpen26 Fought back against Flash? What the hell are you talking about? Peter was no Steve Rogers before getting his powers. He never fought back. He felt he was too scared or too weak to do so in both Amazing Fantasy 15 and the Ultimate Comics. Hell, he didn't fight back even when he had his powers in order to remain above suspicion. The most he did was flip Flash on his ass in the Ultimate comics because he reacted to his Spider-sense and he couldn't control his powers. In the regular comics both in High School and in College the most Peter would do is give a sassy remark and walk away. When he was teacher in Midtown High he explained to Liz that while she worried about boys and cheer-leading, he worried about Flash jamming him in a school locker. So you either never picked up a comic book, didn't pay attention, or got your characters mixed up. But for you to say he wasn't a pushover, especially before getting his powers, means you have no idea who Peter is.

Here is how I would fix the frustratingly annoying first scene. Instead of her hitting the masked guy in the head with a bottle she instead hits the bottle on a nearby table which breaks and makes a noise taking the masked guy attention. And since Spiderman knows how strong they are he won't hold back that much and knock him out with a punch across the head.

I might be wrong, but I think the spider-sense is more used for bigger threats, or incoming threats. Take Spiderman 1 for example. When Flash is about to punch Peter, his spider-sense went of as a warning of an incoming threat

But writers kinda make his spider sense inconsistent. Sometime it warns him of danger well ahead of time. Some times it does it just a second or two before.
