I know it was never really their style, but I always loved how PP&M "rocked" their rendition of This Land is Your Land, particularly in their first three PBS Concert Specials, 25th Anniversary, Holiday, and Peter, Paul, and Mommy Too. Great way to use it as a finale and get the audience involved dancing and clapping! And even with that hint of rock and roll in the music, they still do the folk music justice with their subtle tribute to Woody Guthrie in the "It might've been Woody" lyric! Maybe it's just me, coming from a lifelong but 29 year old Peter, Paul, and Mary fan who just saw Peter and Noel in concert albeit separately and without Mary for the first time ever this past March and July! However, I will always cherish singing with them and meeting them! I even got invited by Peter onstage to sing Puff the Magic Dragon with he and his daughter Bethany! So I can't help but think of them fondly when watching this clip, I just wish I would've gotten the chance to see The Trio all together live in concert in my lifetime, rest in peace Mary, but thank you for sharing your music with me all these years while you were alive and giving me the personal gift of seeing Peter and Paul live and in person!

This is NOT a patriotic song. Lyrics were censored and removed, including lyrics criticizing American soup lines and private property. This has been spread around for nationalist propaganda by twisting the songwriter's lyrics. Though it's somewhat fitting that a "patriotic song" for the US is one stolen and twisted and lied about.

Track six of side one on the album was the trio's covered version of "This Land Is Your Land"... * After 'Moving' spent its one week at #2, it stayed at #3 for the next four weeks...

Equestrian Version: @@@ This land is your land, this land is my land, From Los Pegasus, to the Manehatten Island, From the Vahoover forests, to the Celestial Sea waters, This land was made for you and me. I roamed and rambled, and I followed my hoofsteps To the sparkling sands of her diamond deserts And all around me a voice was singing This land was made for you and me! This land is your land, this land is my land, From Los Pegasus, to the Manehatten Island, From the Vahoover forests, to the Celestial Sea waters, This land was made for you and me. As I went walking that ribbon of highway I saw above me that endless skyway I saw below me those golden valleys This land was made for you and me! This land is your land, this land is my land, From Los Pegasus, to the Manehatten Island, From the Vahoover forests, to the Celestial Sea waters, This land was made for you and me. As the sun was shining, and I was strolling, And the wheat fields waving, and the dust clouds rolling, As the fog was lifting, a voice was saying "This land was made for you and me!" This land is your land, this land is my land, From Los Pegasus, to the Manehatten Island, From the Vahoover forests, to the Celestial Sea waters, This land was made for you and me. @@@ Enjoy the pony version my fellow Bronies!^_^

I always wondered how they chose this set up, the 3 microphones spreading out in 3 directions. Usually, they all just face the front. I am not saying they are wrong, I am just curious why. Surely it would be easier for them too, to face the audience. Anyway, I still think they very talented and would love to have been at one of their performances.

Remembering Mary Travers born on November 9, 1936. She was an American singer-songwriter who was known for being in the famous 1960's folk trio Peter, Paul and Mary. Peter, Paul and Mary broke up in 1970, shortly after having their biggest UK hit, singer-songwriter John Denver's ballad "Leaving on a Jet Plane" (originally titled "Babe I Hate To Go") (UK No. 2, February 1970). Travers subsequently pursued a solo career and recorded five albums: Mary (1971), Morning Glory (1972), All My Choices (1973), Circles (1974) and It's in Everyone of Us (1978). - en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mary_Travers

My all-time favorite wedding song was performed by the great pop vocalist “ John Gary” He possessed a 4 octave vocal range, recognizable rich vibrato, and angelic celestial voice in his upper range. All those engaged ready for wedlock must listen to this. When you do, you will want this song played at your wedding. I guarantee. Also, Gary was Elvis Presley’s favorite pop vocalist. Below are a few more Gary songs that will open the recess of your heart and soul. Once Upon A Time” ( the best rendition of this song ever recorded. All the well known professional vocalists like Tony Bennett, Andy Williams have sung it but none come close to Gary’s angelic rendition) “If You Love Me Really Love Me” ( an obscure song from his “ So Tenderly” album. He sustains the last refrain PHRASE 13 words ( not note) for 30 SECONDS!! No doubt one of the longest “One Breath Phrases” ever recorded! “Autumn Leaves” ( a popular song sung by many vocalists, but John Gary uses his 4 octaves to SOAR into the angelic realm. “ Something Simple” ( an obscure one from his “ So Tenderly” Lp that will open the floodgate of your heart and soul. Again, he SOARS! And finally, “ The Sound Of Music” ( everyone remembers the movie and Julie Andrews wonderful rendition but few knew that John Gary recorded it FIRST from his “ The Nearness Of You” Lp and his voice merges with the violin at the end of the song and he holds the last phrase for 25 seconds And speaking of the violin, here are a couple of reasons why John Gary’s voice was so electrifying and angelic. His mother was a Professional Concert Violinist and when John was 6 or 7 years old, she would play the violin and have her son vocalize to the sound of the violin. Another reason was because John was a professional DEEP SEA DIVER and invented an AQUALUNG and set a WORLD RECORD for remaining under water over TWO HOURS! Well, that’s it. I hope I enticed you to listen to these 5 John Gary recordings. You will thank me. All love from Miami Beach , Florida, -Al
