I am 81 and have been taking metformin since I was 35. I take 2X1000mgs daily and the only side effect I have noticed is constipation, which did not happen until I was 70 plus. The fact that I am old makes it difficult to know if the cause is metformin, because getting old itself often causes constipation. I live with that by taking various laxatives............Don't know about the life extension, but I am about 6 years older than the next oldest person in my immediate family lived to be......I see no reason to stop taking it even though there is a long list of negative side effects people say it causes. I do not have those side effects............I have also have never had Covid......Don't know it metformin has anything to do with that........

I been on metformin the last two yrs...i think less problematic than rapamycin. I have HPA axis dysfunction discovered seven yrs ago when i suddenly became very fatigued. Thank god i found a functional MD. This regimen i'm on is costing me a small fortune. I am also on a low dose of bio identical DHEA that i would recommend for any senior person bc it boosts your sex hormones, thus making you less fatigued. I would like to know what the good doctor thinks of David Sinclair, PhD. Thanks a lot!

I am on this drug no bad symptoms at all yet but have been dosing pro biotics for a number of weeks prior to starting it so I feel this helped. I already feel brain fog lifting. Which I never thought possible.

I love these insights. Looking beyond the abstract at study design is so crucial.

I've been on metformin for five years and I don't have diabetes. My np idea was to help me not have to work as hard in maintaining my weight.

Did you lose weight after starting to use it? Any side effects?

how many mg do you take a day?

Could it not be other factors. Example the population is on Metformin are health focused and so take care of other aspects of their health and so live longer. Therefore the control group might not be a good comparison.

Problem with met is that it makes me less hungry...i think it would be good for weight-loss...alas, i want to gain a bit. I still think met has less side effects than rapamycin.

Peter never mentions dosage of Metformin, especially when he cites these studies. Is it not important?
@robynhope219Ай бұрын
Start with 500mg, then work up to 1000.
