If the parents say they want something then there shouldnt be a problem period. The parents are the deciders. If the kids wnat to dispute this then they can do so after they are 18...for their kids.

It was Matthew Liao. Either way, in terms of gene editing Chinese in general seem to have no ethical breaks whatsoever. There are speculations about what human experiments Chinese are doing on their end. And knowing human and animal life can be nothing for them, I wouldn't be surprised if most of those speculations were true.
