Not sure I've ever come across a song that's better suited for Home Free to knock out the park -- brilliant job to all them, and a big shoutout to Tim for raking in another Pit Viper status 🐍 What are some of your favorite moments from this cover?

The vocals are spot on, for sure! But I loved how they kept the video production simple, yet fun with the details. As you pointed out, their heights... pretty sure Adam Chance is taller than 4'8". Add in Tim's playful smirk when he drops, so funny. I love when they drop in subtle hints of humor. Great reaction from you.

@3870TheDad 2 жыл бұрын
As an older person, I recognize that all of the sounds that the group are producing in the background are sounds that are associated with trains, both the percussion and the vocal sounds. Austins' wail, is reminiscent of a train whistle of old, the percussion is reminiscent of the wheels on the train track, Tims' low hum could be a throwback to the electric train diesel tractor motor. Listen again and notice these train analogies. Whomever wrote this arraignment obviously grew up in a time of trains, or lived near trains growing up.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again... Home Free are all GREAT singers, but you will have to admin that good singers are pretty much a dime-a-dozen. Just look at KZbin. They're all over the place... some really phenomenal singers (which of course, each Home Free member is). Where Home Free REALLY shines is when they sing together. As a group, I think they are unbeatable. The arrangements they are able to put together are so good.

I was a choir director in a former life, and working with not-quite-so-gifted amateurs. You had to keep it fresh, otherwise nobody would care. I'd do it by changing up the time signatures and changing up who sang what section. It was a challenge. And, I learned something here. Maybe I'll be in that position again, and you gave me some ideas for doing it better. Thanks!

WOW!!! Okay, I grew up playing alto sax, moved on. to Bari sax in high school and started learning guitar in middle school. I also picked up pretty much anything else that has strings and reeds. So at 42, I can confidently say I am familiar with music, a little! But I've never really explored traditional vocals or my own range until recently and until now... I HAD NO IDEA that chest fry existed!! I mean I learned Tuvan throat singing techniques( and actually hear some interesting similarities!) but just straight up chest fry...*mind completely freakin blown* Thank you so much for opening my eyes(and range!!) to this technique and to all of these bands/ vocalists!!! I'm sure you noticed, too, that Adam cocks and shoots an invisible shotgun at (their)1:05. I thought that was hilarious. This song was obviously recorded during the covid lockdowns; each of them was alone in his space. I'm just guessing here, but I think they may sing (if not record) during the video and not just lip-sync. That is my impression from their video about the making of "How Great Thou Art." And, for the record, you do add a lot of informative insights, one of the reasons I keep coming back here. Thank you.

I've seen some behind scenes of them and it is some lip sync because they've pre-recorded in the studio, but they also do some live singing during the shoot to make it match up and seem real with expressionism, etc. They are all 6'1 to 6'4" tall. They were in quarantine and had to hang up their own backgrounds in their home studio closet or wherever they set up and plus they have a sense of humor.

I love this. One of my favorites of theirs. You break it down so well and can hear some parts I have a hard time hearing but then you’re a trained singer. I just love their version. Love Adam’s harmonica and Austin’s train like sounds. Rob has soul and Tim and Chance kill their low notes. You’re right, that is not their real heights but they’re fairly tall, all between 6’1” to 6’4”. Tim is supposedly 6’ 3”, that’s what some fans have said. Enjoyed your reaction.

Peter, your voice is awesome. You have that resonance in your voice like Tim Foust does. The Chiaroscuro light and dark sound. Makes it sound you are frying no matter what note. Other bases sound muddied or sort of flat- not note wise but like turning the treble all the way off. To me not as pleasant to the ears. Tim's part in Man of Constant Sorrow is a perfect example of how your voice sounds like his. Nice.

This is one of may favorite songs they've covered recently and it's truly refreshing to hear a bass singer discuss the tech side of singing in that range. Looking forward to to the next video!

I absolutely love watching your reaction videos. I love the in depth analysis you provide, it's more than just a "reaction" and I love that. Also, love hearing you sing along, would definitely love to hear you do a country cover for sure. Would be interesting to see what you could do with King of the Road. That would be amazing to be honest. Another great video though, can't wait for the next one 😁 And I must say, THANK YOU so much for explaining how some vocal pieces work, the chest fry and subharmonics, I greatly appreciate how you really break things down
