Aout the smoke-supposedly it is not allowed, but this truck passes emmisions testing consistently every year, and even scores better than my 2005 ACERT C-15; and it doesn't smoke at all, so you figure it out. same stack size, same testing facility and everything. Just goes to show that the so-called "Drive Clean" initiatives are just a load of crap. About the lights, they are required at night, but this load has flags on it, they are just hard to see in the dust.

Passes emissions? What third world country do you drive in? What are the standards and the tolerances for particulates? Hi, sweet truck. What have you guys done to make it ride lower in the front? I've got an '87 359 and it has a 9 1/2" gap between the front fender and top of the steer tire. I'm going to take the 3" blocks out from under the front axle, but this truck looks like it's even lower than just taking the blocks out.

ummm... this one is 10'', and is running 24.5 rubber, so it's not lowered at all. It sits higher than most 379's too-just the way we like it! Why would you want to lower yours? you will mess with the driveshaft geometry a bunch if you drop it 3''.

What's with the sleeper cab? I guess you run what you got for the job but this seems like a long haul OTR tractor to me.
@CowSausages8 жыл бұрын
Generally, the trucks I've seen at least, the sleeper is used for parts storage.
@Zeviander8 жыл бұрын
+Chris Pearson Sleepers are usually left on for the sake of convenience in short haul situations (they don't weigh "that" much to make a difference). Plus, with people in logging, they work very long hours and are not exempt from the Hours of Service. So if they get caught out in the middle of nowhere and are out of hours, it would be nice to have a place to sleep that isn't the passenger seat.
@williamdelarge24918 жыл бұрын
Many Otr tractors can have double frames, heavier steers up 14.5 k-lbs and 46k-lbs rated rear drives with often eaton 18 speed trannies. The sleeper has nothing to do with what the tractor "can" or "could" haul. Convenience having the sleeper really, it's there if you need it. Some log haulers may need their bunk. Depends where it's going.
@chrispearson38138 жыл бұрын
Thanks all for the replies. I guess i just thought that all sleepers required a longer wheel base.
