Mark, I don't know if you've gotten any of my previous messages but I have come across your movie. Correct white bar for the Buford car. You send me your email. I can send you the link. The only thing is that it does yellow lenses and not blue, but I'm sure the blue lenses are obtainable. I will also hunt for those

I've said before... soda blast the truck bodies for paint prep. It won't damage hucks or chrome and you'll save yourself thousands of hours of messing around. Nice to see effort back on LBL ... now just stick to it, nevermind all the other projects... focus on 1 project at a time and you'll be finished in no time... great episode!
@ChrisHarding-lk3jj2 ай бұрын
@@machinistbytrade Stay away from soda blasting, soda blasting leaves a residue on the substrate that is next to impossible to properly remove. Most paint manufacturers refuse to warranty any paint that has been applied to a surface that was soda blasted, within a year or two the paint begins peel. Properly neutralizing soda blast residue is nearly impossible due to the chemical bond the soda make with metal. I have seen people wet sand with dawn and vinegar just to have the paint peel within a year. Baking soda is chemically a salt and when it becomes trapped in body panel joints and cause problems down the road. Most people who recommend soda blasting have no actual experience with it. I have been in the business of automotive restoration and customization for 25 years and I remember when soda blasting began to gain popularity and within a year paint jobs were failing. I will not take any project into my shop that has been soda blasted

Hey Mark, I'm sure you as well as me and other Hal Needham fans have seen that really cool painted art Hawaiian Tropic trailer in Smokey and the Bandit 2 at the Lion Country Safari scene when Charlotte has the baby I think, as well as Cannonball Run, during the Arthur J Foyt speech 18:48 seconds into Cannonball run, both made like practically around the same time. I'm just curious to know what happened to it if anyone else knows, it's something I think my dad even noticed back in the day and it seems like Hal Needham liked that painted art so much he had it in both movies. Thanks for noticing my comment , keep on building those awesome movie vehicles!

What a cool freakin grease'n machine LOL... If you want a color that pops, check out House of Kolor. Yes that's how it's spelled. They are a custom paint supplier in the U.S. They are known for doing cool colors, but some of the paints are a lot different to spray, and not really for people that haven't sprayed a lot of material, especially complex metallics and pearls... For the people that are tired of waiting for the Pete to be finished, it's a huge project. Yeah Mark kinda jumped past finishing it and started working on the KW, but that was his choice. I can tell you from experience that you have to be 110% worked up about the project you are working on, because if you aren't, the finished product will suffer, corners will get cut, and you will basically lose motivation. So if he was more enthused about doing the KW, then that's the project he needed to be working on. The others will all get done in time... I agree that the rivets do look really cool, but man that is SO much work. I'm glad I'm not doing it. It wouldn't have bothered me when I was younger but as I've gotten older I don't have any patience, and I'm a perfectionist so that's not a good combination LOL... That picture is very cool. The person that did it did a really good job 👍 I can paint any vehicle, any way you want, and it will be a true show quality paint job, but I can't do art work like that picture. I wish I could, but I can't. Not even close.
