I’m still playing G400 Max + reg Ping reduced shaft by 1/2 inch and it’s still my favorite…no new data to switch for a new driver + nearly 900$ CDA kept in my pockets.

No Pete, you are absolutely correct about ping drivers being heavy. Put it on a scale vs Taylormade Qi10 and you’ll probably see a 10 gram delta. That’s why a lot of their stock shafts come counterbalanced

I am a ping guy; probably always will be. Just upgraded to g430 D and woods, i230s last year. I doubt I’ll pull the trigger on a new driver. Great testing Pete; you crushed that 10k!

Another thing to consider I saw the Taylor Made is 100 less in price. That could sway people too. Both of these drivers seemed to have nailed it this year though. Great review as always Pete!

I went for a driver fitting yesterday, and the Qi10Max worked well for me. I struggle with low spin, low launch and occasional snap hook on driver, and my usual driver clubhead speed is around 95mph. The Qi10Max worked best for me at 12 degree head at standard loft, and a stiff 50g shaft. Consistent shots at 235 yds carry, 255 yds total at a Trackman. I would be very happy with these numbers on the course. The spin average was at 2250. I did not have time to test delofting the club to 11.25 degree, it could have worked even better. I tried the ping, Cobra darkspeed, as options Multiple stiff and regular shaft options. The others did not work as well and as consistently.

I just bought the Qi10 max and it’s a beast. Ultra forgiving and long. Nicest driver I’ve hit. Tested the 430 max as well. Also a great feeling driver. It was a tough choice between the two but the Taylormade won out on feel alone. It’s so smooth

I love all the Ping G400 through the G430. I’ve used all of them. I’m now using the G430 and it’s the best club I’ve hit. My irons are the Titleist T200. So I’m just saying I’m not just one clubs brand. I use what ever works best for me.

Great review. I won't be rushing out to replace my beautiful TSR3 any time soon though - I only bought it in September! Sorry to be pedantic, but the MOI units here are g.cm2, i.e. grams x square centimetre, NOT grams per centimetre squared. As you say, the higher the MOI, the more resistant the clubhead is to twisting, all other things being equal, e.g. location of the C of G.

I replaced rhe 2 gram weight in the back of my Stealth driver with a 14 gram weight. Solved the twist on off center strikes. Cost $15.

Just a quick glance at the numbers between your Callaway review and this review, Ping seems to match the numbers of the new Callaway and is really close to the Callaway Paradym, so for last years money and as much as makes no difference in performance, go for last years Paradym kind of seems to be the result. Possibly a little more dispersion on the old one but my swing creates far more dispersion than the club cannot deal with it anyway. There is so much hype around the Ping but your own numbers seem to somewhat quell that excitement. The real test should be in the hands of the buyers of these clubs, the weekend (or for the retired - midweek) golfers to see what the advantages would be. The percentage improvements would to this untrained eye seem negligible. No doubt there will be plenty purchased with the amount of hype, especially in the KZbin community. I must add, very entertaining videos Peter, great work by you and the team. Who needs TV. Maybe saving on a TV licence will let me afford a new driver every year.

The G430 Max 10k sits in-between the G460 Max and the LST in the Ping line-up. If i didn't recently (Sept. 2023) get custom fit for TSR3 i would def. give the G430 Max 10k and the AI Smoke a shot.

Interesting. I have a Ping G400 Max. When I got fitted at Cool Clubs 18 months ago, they reshafted it, but thought it would be better for me to use that head versus buying an all-new club. I can still hook and slice it. Maybe I need to wait for 20,000 MOI.

The whole 10k thing is more of a gimmick though in the taylormade testing the 10k number is coming from the twisting that the driver is doing from up and down on bottom and top strikes on the face, not from left to right on heel and toe shots where it really matters.

I play TM clubs, Driver and irons well mainly the Lob Wedge is a Mack Daddy 4. But to be honest i prefer the Ping in your test. The best of both worlds springs to mind. Forgiveness without high rpm, which in the Uk this time of year would see a lot of ballooning flights.

Its interesting to see the difference in people and testing. Rick's tests showed the calaway to be miles better, pete co.paring against ping. Be interesting to see what's the most forgiving out of all. Goes to show how much is personal preference and to test yourself.

Peter...this is a direct lift from ping website about the g425 ... the MAX, total MOI pushes a record 10,000, largely due to a 26-gram tungsten movable weight that shifts the CG lower and farther back and can be secured in the Neutral, Draw or Fade setting. 👀👀👀🤷🤷🤷

Great review. I assume not a lot of space in the studio, but personally I'd add some diffusion to your lighting, or bounce it off the wall, as it's a bit harsh with distracting shadows at times...though obviously personal opinion! Love the channel.

Ping driver heads are heavier, that is one of the things I like about them. Ping is often slightly above 200 grams, where the other manufacturers are generally 5 grams or more under that mark.

Ping drivers are almost always 10G+ heavier than other manufacturers ( as a standard model, no extra back weight most are 195+/- and ping 205+ ) ...that helps to launch and MOI

Hit them both back to back. For me they both spun on average at 2600 to 2700. Mishits around 3100. Which is great for me. My ss is about 103ish.

It's funny because my ping g425 that's now a few years old, also claimed 10,000 MOI. Leads me to believe that the g430 sacrificed MOI in favor of a better sound, and maybe this g430 10k is then taking that better sound and bringing it back up to 10,000 MOI. Which, if it actually sounds better than the g425, makes it their best driver. I personally am not offended by the sound and love the playability of my g425.

I got curious and went back to your old driver videos. You were hitting pretty much all of the old drivers further than these and the Qi10. the 10 was actually much shorter than any of the other drivers from 2 years ago. You hit the Mizuno STG 333 yards.

Got my 400 Max last year, brand new in the wrapper for £225. i won't be changing anytime soon. 9 degree head too so the spin is low with a high launch. £600 lol. Think I'll stay with my 400Max.

As someone who understands aero and the various techniques to improve it, I really understand what's going on, on the top of the Ping. But it's just ugly to look down on. No getting around that. So that's tough. My driver is a good 5+ years old, so this year looks like the year to pull the trigger. some awesome options with actual gains.

Iam still hitting the G400 Max and it's far and away the easiest to hit ive ever had. You can find them for 200 with a good shaft and it's worth a try for anyone who wants an easier club to hit

I wasn't a fan of the stealth either version, the Ping drivers are forgiving and also hold value on resale but I couldn't get any more from the G430 max than I get from the G425 max so ill stick at present and at £500+ its a bit steep

I’ll wait to see Rick’s test on the G430 10k. I’m not putting Rick down but it’s hard to tell with you Pete because you hit the driver so well. Rick is more realistic in the real world. If he agrees, I could feel a bit aggrieved having spent a lot of money on the G430 last year and as we all know gains like this are expensive in the modern golfing world.

Only issue with Taylormade and Ping is their mid season refresh and after 3-4 rounds they look ten years old with their weak coatings , that alone makes me avoid them , personally my go to is Cobra or Titleist for longevity and resale value alone because they’re better made , us amateurs don’t have the game to swap out our drivers every 6 weeks. I recall you saying the Stealth was the best driver ever 😂 WHATS IN YOUR BAG AND WHO PAYS YOU THE MOST ?????

The Ping G425 Max also already has 10k MOI and Ping even advertises this on their website if you look up the specs… so not sure why this is suddenly such a thing… maybe this is the original G430 Max design but Ping didn’t manage to release it last year (the G430 LST had massive back order issues in spring last year related to the production of the carbon crown…)

Peter, great video but one thing i will ask, could you do a review with a standard shaft and grip? Because looks like you have custom shaft and bigger grip on these clubs so its not a true review for us normal players. I may be completely wrong as what your using are normal custom store shafts/grips but they look custom. Thanks.
