Push, leg, pull, cardio, repeat. This split works great for me, and puts me in the gym, nightly. I'm a stubborn man. I don't like taking days off. I think the bigger you get, the less time you need in the gym. Just my uneducated guess, but it seems to me that the bigger/stronger you are, the more systemic fatigue moving that kind of weight puts on the body. When you are new like me, training to failure on every set and hitting each muscle group twice a week works fine because I can recover before I hit that muscle group again.

@microondasletal4 ай бұрын
Isn't it more comfortable to just do push pull legs? That way you're doing the same volume for every bodypart in each week, it's more balanced. I personally turn completely mad on upper-lower splits. I wanna fully train every upper muscle group on upper day and end up completely overtrained and losing muscle as a consequence. I know that's just me though, you can plan it better and it'll work. However, I still think PPL and fullbody splits make more sense for 3 days.
@dansmith97244 ай бұрын
@microondasletal volume depends on how many exercises, reps and sets. My volume is alot less than if I trained a PPL. PPL your hitting a muscle group twice a fortnight where upper and lower 3 times a week you hit each muscle group 3 times a fortnight instead of 2. Try things and keep what works.

I've been following the Torso/Limbs 4-day split for years and it's my favorite of all splits because it allows for more recovery and targets all muscles twice per week. I have a "light-weight" week, "medium-weight" week and "heavy- weight" week with corresponding rep ranges for all exercises that week and then repeat the 3-week cycle 3 times (9-week program.) Literally just this morning I noticed my triceps (and biceps) were significantly stronger on today's "week 2/medium-weight" week, compared to the very same workout last month. The only difference was 2 rest days in between my Torso and Limbs workouts this week (due to circumstances beyond my control.) With all other things remaining equal, I can only attribute this increase in strength to "optimal" recovery (allowing for over-compensation to take place)... 🤔 My triceps and biceps felt fresh since they did not get secondarily targeted during the Chest and Back movements the day prior not instead 2 days prior. With all of that said, I can't think of a way to keep the Torso/Limbs 4-day split and still allow for at least 1 rest day in between each workout because inevitably I'll have back-to-back workouts at some point in order to keep 4 days per week. Any suggestions for more recovery with this 4-day Torso/Limbs split besides switching to 3-day full body? Awesome channel!!

3 times per week was best for me but i found that how hard and how ofter u train depends on other factors and if you get it right u grow a lot.But I like to keep it simple like chest-biceps then day off then back-triceps after day off then friday leggs and take weekend to eat at rest.This split is like a size and strength focused nothing crazy like 4-5 sets per muscle grup no isolation only barbell and dumbells,this split tends to develop the edges of the body like arms and lats for that old school look.Then around june or so or when i dont train so hard and heavy and go more for volume I do 3 day split but now its usualy supersets chest-back then day off then arms then day off then leggs and leggs are friday so i dont have to go all sore as crap to work but as summer vacation comes it can land any day,i also throw in a 4th or 5th workout on vacation like some abs and forearms or maybe some shoulders or hamstrings if i feel like im getting tight almost like a yoga thing. Then I also have like 4 months a year when i train maybe once or twice a week like 2 setts per muscle grup and i only do pullups squats and stiff deadlift with low weight for higher reps on squats like 25 reps ,pullups to failure and stiff legg deadlift i have a way of doing it like very slow positive wth like 15kg where i am actually dead hanging the weight and im stretching the hamstrings that is how i got rid of lower back pain.

I read somewhere that Lee Haney used to do a push pull legs split but had to switch because of sore shoulder joints. I seem to be having a similar problem with push pull legs and just recently switched things up. So far the shoulder pain seems to have decreased not completely gone yet. What's your opinion on this?
How do you feel about hitting body parts every 4-5 days? Would you blast the muscles with higher volumer and medium intensity, or high intensity low-to-medium volume? I feel like my joints are taking a helluva beating if I work each body part 2+ times per week, which is probably because I'm terrible at leaving reps in reserve. I try not to overthink it, but worth hearing if anyone is/has been in a similar boat.

I've just started doing 2 groups of exercises twice a week, I can still get 2-3 days rest between muscle groups while training 4 times a week which is hard to do- Monday and Thursday- RDL'S, barbell hack squats, upright rows Wednesday and Sunday- bench press, pendlay rows, Yates rows, chin ups, close grip bench press

@@jylongbun8790 small compared to who? This split has exercises that work the most muscle mass so this argument is done, I'm on my fitness journey and will update my pictures as I get bigger, funny how you can know if I'm small just from one picture at one angle, I'm not lean so of course you can just say this, if I was leaner you would say it's a great physique, or you're just saying dumb shit for no reason

Simple effective fitness advice is what really helps, if someone is constantly making content on new things over and over they're likely saying BS and just want views to spread the new "science based" exercises, maingaining, the "optimal" nonsense basically, Peter just repeats simple but effective fitness advice which is how it should be

Lol its only so much you can say when it really comes down to just the basics. Other channels is just small guys doing random unnecessary exercises to make 10 minute videos to monetize.
