I Purchased The Tudor P01 Watch

Ever since I tried this Tudor watch on my wrist, I have not been able to get it out of my mind, so now I own it :)
PS The shark mesh bracelet is just a generic strap I had lying around the house, I honestly cannot recall where or when I purchased it. Possibly an online shop somewhere many years ago...cheers

I tried the P01 on last year and it didn’t do it for me. Seeing it on a bracelet really surprised me how great it looks. At the end of the day, it’s your money and your wrist. Buy what makes ‘you’ happy 😃

The P01 is the piece that taught me the lesson of not bashing a watch until you've seen it in the metal and tried it on. It looked absolutely horrendous in press images but when I first saw it in stores, it immediately caught my attention. Wearing it just basically sealed the deal. Absolutely stunning shark mesh there Pete! I wear mine on a rivet bracelet and enjoy it so much more than the strap.

One thing I enjoy about watches is how you look at a watch not only to know the time... but to forget about it while looking at something beautiful. It is also something personal. I look at it this way. In the ‘60s, Paul Newman wore a Cosmograph when ADs couldn’t give them away. The underdog is always cool. I’ve always liked the P01, it’s different enough to be cool.

The Paul Newman was exactly what I thought of.. initial commercial disaster, now icon and highly sought after. Met a gentleman who paid either $600 or $800 for it at release and treated and wore it like a everyday tool watch.

I have been saying since it was released this is a future classic. Almost everyone bagged it at first, saying it was too big, it's ugly, it's this, it's that, trying to find any reason not to like it. Well I think it's beautiful and in the future, once production has stopped, the price will go through the roof, not that that is the reason I would buy it. I would buy it because it's unique, it has an interesting back story, it looks tough enough to drive a tank over it and you can bet no-one else will have one. I agree, it's usually the unpopular models that nobody liked and bought that turn into the sought after collector pieces years down the line. A regular BB will be ten a penny. Usually these "ugly" watches grow on people too.

Agreed Dave, on both points. I'm very happy that Tudor have not discontinued the P01. It's obviously not a huge seller for them and they have waiting lists for other models, so taking valuable time & resources to manufacture this watch shows a certain respect to enthusiasts imo.

Congrats! I think you chose well, but in the end you need to make yourself happy. I have a blue BB 36 and I tried it on 4 separate times, initially thinking it was too small for me. However, it felt perfect on my wrist and I just couldn’t get it out of my mind. I finally did pull the trigger and have had it almost a year. The 36mm looks great on my wrist and I get so much joy from wearing it. Enjoy your new watch. I think it is beautiful.

I tried one on 9 months ago and it wears perfect. I have a 7 inch wrist. It doesn’t stand out, it’s different, but people who know. Will stop to ask you about it. It’s definitely not a only watch. This is a watch that you get when you have your everyday, dress, beater, or grail watch. It looks like a very tough purpose designed piece. I want one but I won’t get one until I get my wish list watches first.

Good choice. It was one that shocked me at first, maybe even disgusted and thought was a joke at first. But, very shortly afterwards when more and more people started to look at it and give some sort of review on it, the more it grew on me and saw it for it's unique merits. I've always liked and gravitated towards watches that were outside of the norm. And, if it may be something that is popular, mainstream or otherwise recognizable, I'd say least get it in a color not typical for such a particular watch design. I want to look at my collection and not feel like I'm also looking at someone else's, if you know what I mean. I also, now, try to keep my collection to only watches that make me happy and feel a particular way. Easily, all the watches in my small collection visually grab my attention to wear it. I'm patiently waiting for a Serica 5303 to ship. It's its own unique thing. But, for me, it does have some similar feel to your P01, especially the way you've modified to a steel mesh bracelet.

@@frankdux5693 Serica isn't new, but they've been around for maybe 2 years? .It's a French brand, swiss made. They have a set of field watches they started with that are pretty nice, too. But, I'm starting with the 5303 with the black dial version. The white, or really it's a silver dial that looks mostly white, is pretty nice too. Delivery running late, but, sounds like the owner just wants to be sure the watch and components are top quality before sending out. Hopefully, from last update, I should be receiving mine in the next week or two
