It's not your fault, it's the media's fault and to some degree our fault because as muslims we need to clean these misconceptions and hate towards us if we just watch it and do nothing about it, i think we can get blamed of it.

@Tsai Alice i used it ty, the problem is that is not really their country , they stole it...and no there is no problem with islam, the problem is more USA who makes wars for nothing (oil and so on actually) and destroy muslim countries...and then blame them when they migrate to have better life. The problem is more your country too, China, who mistreat their own people like shit if they dont submit to the government. i have no lesson to receive from someone who is completely brainwashed like you. Free you mind and then come and talk to me

@Tsai Alice OK, China is rich, can you talk there ??? What is the difference ???because China is not a muslim country ! China spy his people to control it, Saudi does not. China and Saudi have both advantages and inconvenients but chinese people are less free than in saudi. Chinese governement disrespect people and impose them many things. Saudi people do not dispise muslims, its the government only. Likemost of the governments in the world actually. Lol afghanistan was a buddist country...maybe but USA was not christian before the colonisation of white people...so why do you blame "muslims" and not christians ??? Oh probably because you are christian too, you are hypocrit. How the last jew survived all these years if they chased him, this story is bullshit. They all went to Israel, because they wanted a jewish country, this guy dont care about Israel, that's all. Maybe they have been some killing but Talibans are responsible, not the people. Why do you associate Islam with extremist minorities who have the power ??? I dont get it. Maybe You just dont understand the things or you are an absolute hypocrit

What a beautiful insight and kind souls you have. It doesn’t cost much to appreciate others, the way we expect others to appreciate us. Many will disagree with you, but as a revert/convert to Islam, I can vouch and say I am better person for my religion. Islam is a religion of peace and is so dear to us. It has healing powers many won’t take the time to comprehend and will ignorantly tell us, who know our religion otherwise. Thank you Carl. I pray many will take heed and leave their prejudgements at the door; prejudgements incorrectly developed by listening to the news and not looking to the people who actually practice and know their religion.

@@xxLoRiTaxx Akhi, us Europeans are reverting by the thousand subhanAllah. Alhamdullilah, there’s no longer a place anywhere in the world for prejudism and islamaphobia. It’s outdated and quite frankly, a sign that someone doesn’t have the capacity to be a decent human being. You don’t have to revert to Islam to simply respect our beliefs and commitment to Allah swt, the Sunnah of our Prophet ﷺ and our Deen. Asalamuwalaikum wa rahmatullahi wa barakhatu

If you read other part of the Quran, you will know it is also mentioned that Munafiqun (Muslims that are pretends to be good people but deceive and take advantage of others, commit evil acts) will be judged in the hereafter and also enter the hellfire. So it is not only about people that are not Muslims, but about the behaviors of some people. I was just watching an interview done by a non-Muslim man with a “diverse” group of Muslims. One of his questions was directed to a sister who was not wearing hijab, while the others were in “hijab”. He asked why she didn’t wear it, and, as expected, the answer was that it is a choice. Sadly, no one in the gathering corrected or qualified that statement. What do I mean by that? It’s like if someone asked my why I ran a red light and I answered by saying, because it’s a choice. Is it though? Yes, I suppose; it was a choice to run a red light and break the law while it is still illegal and a punishable crime. However, it is not a choice in that the law doesn’t say, stop at a red light, but if you choose not to, it’s ok, there are no consequences. Similarly here, yes, it is her choice not to wear the hijab and break Allah’s law, but that does not mean it is ok or acceptable. It is a punishable crime and not something approved of in Islam. It is sad that this mentality exists in our communities. In an effort to prove that we are not “extreme”, we give many generic answers which are in fact a type of dishonesty. Why don’t you pray; oh, because it’s a choice, forced religion is no religion. Why did you (a Muslim woman) marry a non-Muslim man or you (a Muslim man) marry a Hindu woman; oh, because it’s a choice, we all have freedom of choice. Such answers are ridiculous and absurd. Some think they are doing Islam a favour when giving such answers, when in fact, all they’re doing is misinforming others and exposing themselves to Allah’s wrath and punishment. ~ Shaykh Younus Kathrada ~

I met two muslim women in school 7 years ago. I learned so much from them, both sweet, intelligent women. I am Christian myself and we've had many interesting conversations about differences and similarities in our religions, they are respectful towards Christianity and I am respectful towards Islam. And I think when we respect others we can learn a lot. Honestly love those ladies and forever grateful for everything I have learned from them.

48:00, a mention of my country, Malaysia 🇲🇾. Thank you sister. And yes, I’d like to reaffirm the fact that me included & many of other Muslim women here are grateful that we’re privileged with Islamic empowerment, rights & free will. If I may add something to the conversation I would say that if you want to be true to the finding out what Islamic values are, it’s best to talk to the legitimate Islamic scholars - who have studied very deeply, certified in Islamic studies to really be able to give more accurate answers. Seeking it from a collective group of Muslims from various backgrounds is one of the right steps, but will surely not cover all as it may differ based on personal biases etc. To understand the core belief system, going to the scholars will help better. Hope that makes sense 😊

~ Younus Kathrada ~

When you asked what in American culture clashes with Islam, the first thing that came to my mind was the use of 'interest". Mortgage etc.. Islam forbids any use of interest and the rule is 1 for 1. So one dollar can only be returned as one dollar, no more no less. In the USA, and even the world for that matter, the use of interest in all business or commerce related endeavors is the norm. If you want to buy a house, mortgage, if you want to buy a car, finance, if you want to open a business, business credit loan and so forth. I find that such normalization of borrowing money to repay it for more than its worth is a flawed concept that leads individuals, usually, to bad financial decisions and consequently more unsound decisions in other aspects of their lives. I also truly believe that the forbiddance of interest use would lead the world to a more financially sound future.

You often bite more than you can chew. You might have 100$ in the bank but due to "credit lines" be motivated to reach for something that costs well beyond your means. A terrific and informative discussion of a spectrum perspectives! I really liked the point about how certain misperceptions of Islam really is rooted in cultural issues specific to a nation/region.👏👏 The most striking thing I learned from my Muslim peers and students is a general sense of modesty and pride in maintaining traditions, which are shared central core concepts within the Confucian-based Korean culture. One of our students (Gujarati) was very open in sharing cultural aspects of Islam, most eye-opening of which for me was that MEN also have to follow the modesty dress code (i.e. no silk, no gold, and no exposure above ankle). I guess it's no surprise that Korean Dramas (particularly the historical genre) are popular across the Muslim world! 😀
