We are being gaslit to think George Floyd was a victim of color when 80% of his circumstances was lack of class mobility opportunity in America.. The BLM movement was brilliant psy-op to steer away George Floyd being a victim of classism.. growing up in poverty which made him commit crimes to likely feed his family at a young age and was thrown in the system of no rehabilitation... white or black... they have the same recidivism rate.. 4 other cops present were of color.. This should have been a POOR LIVES MATTER Movement Even if it was racist instead of rap sheet bias.. There's no more government legislative solutions to justify the past without fueling racism when so many Americans of all colors are struggling, hustling, grinding away themselves.. So sad that movement was co-opted.. As an expat from the Mitten.. I'm proud of Detroit despite the aggregious greed of what the DeepState did to US

Since then I never take the bus without my bicycle. I work at Jefferson north assembly and take the bus everyday...it's bad...I was almost robbed last Monday 1am at scotten and west grand, dude walked up very slow towards me I knew he was about to rob me, I hopped on my bike and rode to the next stop, soon as he seen I was leaving he yelled asking for a light! Ya no thanks man....u can't ride a bike more than an hour before u get a flat because half these people ride around smoking blunts and tossing liquor bottles out the window so the sidewalks are covered in glass. Here's something typical by I seen yesterday at the gas station, woman come out with a new born baby and throws it on the lap of a 5 or 6 year old in the passenger side, no seatbelt no car seats, she gets in the driver's and side lights half a blunt, cranks the gangster rap until the entire car was buzzing and rattling and destroying the kids ears, then speeds off over the curb....place is a hell hole these people care less about this city and constantly destroy it. These works provide a distorted view at best. They are entertainment, not real life. They present an extremely narrow perspective of the world, heavily influenced and filtered by the person making the video and the individuals willing to be recorded. It’s strange to me how reverent people are towards something I consider junk food. Most of this guy’s videos are just ads with some neat camera shots. The narrative often serves as a shield for Peter to carefully inject his opinions as questions, tempering any potential blowback from either the person he’s talking to or the court of public opinion.

I noticed the parallels, too. Not only the history of a draining major industry and the effects of poverty, but also how the people who succeed keep hope, are willing to work hard to improve themselves and support their family. Family is huge. Hospitality and kindness to everyone, unless they try to hurt you or yours, then they'll take care of what they need to (and they won't need to call the police!). Even the same speech patterns (e.g., "You know what I'm saying?" "You know what I mean?"). There's more that unites us than divides us. Those who try to tell you otherwise either don't know what they're talking about, or they're not to be trusted.

The people in this series are a true representation of the people of Detroit. We're good people, we really are. We love the city, we love each other if we've had experience of knowing people from different cultures, as the gentleman said "while doing homework." There's very little true hopelessness here, we're always looking for progress. John, if you're reading this, I'd really like to see you do some youtube updates on your project so start a channel if you haven't done so already. I'll keep checking for you.

I will be moving to Detroit next year after marrying my fiancé who resides there and works for GM. My first time going was last year from Georgia. I was so sad seeing so many abandoned homes/neighborhoods and schools and the condition of the roads/ school system. He explained the history of the city and took me through neighborhoods and to museums. The people were kind and the food was soooo good. Prior to my trip, I only knew what the media portrayed and didn't look forward to the move. Now I can say I'm excited and look forward to the move.

I live near Toronto. It's really sad about what happened to Detroit because Toronto and Detroit are similar cities in many ways and the two cities kind of moved in opposite directions. They both used to be about the same size (Toronto is now much larger), both are on the Great Lakes and both are pretty connected to the auto industry (although most of the car plants in the Toronto area were always in the outer suburbs). Even the old architecture looks very similar, but most of those lovely large older homes in Toronto within the city were maintained or restored and are now worth millions. I suppose part of the difference relates to how Toronto was never a one industry town. As well as automotive and other manufacturing, we also have lots of work in financial services, government, technology and other industries. I'm hopeful Detroit can successfully reinvent itself, bring people and jobs back to the city and combat poverty. We have our own problems in Toronto (particularly a lack of affordable housing), but I realize how lucky we are.

Detroit has lost 1,000,000 plus people. One of the great mega trends in America is from cold ass, declining Northern cities to the Sunbelt. The Industrial Age is over and Detroit lacks innovation / tech related capital. There are TENS OF THOUSANDS of abandoned houses in the city. I’m a native NYer and people have been saying the same about Buffalo for years. We are still waiting for it to happen. This reminds me of people who buy those stupid penny stocks or moribund companies. They are all cheap for a reason. @Figi Moheder If you don't know what you're talking about just say that, there's copious murders in every big city across America, some less, some more, Detroit had a spike in the 60s and early 70s and every city had a boom in crime across the board in the 80s and 90s with the crack epidemic and impending "war on drugs", Detroit was hit hard because of companies like gmc leaving in search of greener pastures. white people still live there? idk what y'all think Detroit looks like but it's genuinely a nice city. there's quite a few abandoned buildings because of the economic downturn a few decades ago, but in the Bible belt and north eastern US that's not too far out of the ordinary. look into the history and redlining laws against people of color in the United States, just TRY to be slightly educated before you talk online. Some of y'all are genuinely cess pools of human beings.

@@jonathanbrooks9768 Detroit is almost unique in the world because it was one of the wealthiest cities ON EARTH, but ignorant philosophies, corruption and violence squandered it all. That is the main lesson.

I am from Detroit. Born and raised.. Cooley High graduate. I loved growing up in Detroit. So much more to my city than crime. I miss it and sincerely hope my city comes back to life. Belle Isle, Kensington Park, Grand River. I miss it all...Monica
