@@abrielrobertsson4160 Czech republic and I was born in Slovakia, so in Central Europe. You have to also count in the fact that Sweden is probably the best country in the world to live in. It is always Switzerland, Norway or Sweden. Also with lower amount of people it is a lot easier to implement certain changes regarding safety nets and healthcare. My father is a British Citizen and most people there complain about their healthcare, people in Czech republic do too. Public healthcare in most countries means huge waiting times for a checkup when it is something specific, best doctors are always full because their patients are usually acquaintence or someone from family. And I can tell you, the best treatment I ever got from a doctor was when I was the one who paid for it at a private clinic. So...yes, things like public healthcare and other stuff are great but they still have flaws at most places. I have never been to Sweden, but from what I heard it is one of those few places where almost everything works incredibly well.

Am a US citizen and lived abroad in two countries, South Korea and Canada. The biggest observation I found is people are generally the same in all three countries. What bothers me the most about the US nowadays is the political discord and extremism. The art of compromise has long been forgotten and may just be our ultimate downfall. We may have “free speech” but what good is it if there’s no unity.
@TuanNguyen-uq8gz
@TuanNguyen-uq8gz 3 жыл бұрын
true, Americans don't have unity as they are dividing themselves with racism issues. Moreover, I think US society is too tolerant for drugs and freedom, allowing drug users to trade everywhere, including in schools, etc., and homeless to live anywhere in the center hub of big cities. However, it leads to the consequence that our safety is being invaded. I cannot imagine that living in such the most powerful country in the world still have fear to walk alone and use public transportation at night (I am living in San Jose, California, so I totally understand this issue)
@jonaskessler326

@@TuanNguyen-uq8gz I live in SF and agree with most of what you’re saying. I went to college in central Virginia though (and grew up in NYC) and can say there is a very big difference between big cities and small ones in this country. If you ever have the opportunity to move to a smaller, college town somewhere outside of California I would definitely suggest it as life is usually much better. Less money to be earned but happier and healthier overall with a much lower cost of living and crime rate.

@Pat Gomez You are absolutely right. I think this last year woke a lot of us up to that. Regarding Italy: 2k$ a month is ok when you take into account all the benefits you get. 1: Free health care, so unlike in the US where you make more money, a serious illness like cancer won't bankrupt you. 2: You get a pension 3: Free childcare(most of the EU has this) 4: Free higher education 5: 4 weeks of paid vacation 6: Sick pay, if your sick you still get your normal salary. 7: If you loose your job you get 80-60% of you wage(up to a limit) for at least 2 years, some countries up to effectively 5 years. Those are the big ones to account for, and there are a plethora of smaller thing you have to pay out of pocket for, so you need almost twice the pay to be able to pay the costs of living in the US. Just childcare is horrendously expensive if you have checked just that single thing. The US is a great place if you want to work 60hour weeks and make silly amounts of money but it comes at a cost for society's outcast's. We don't leave people behind in the EU/Scandinavia, we see it as our duty to drag the weakest in our society out of the gutter so they also can have a dignified life. It's not perfect, nothing is, but I happily pay my taxes because it is worth it. I have the feeling the US is becoming more and more like the biggest for profit company on this earth, were you exist to work and consume, just so the rich can get richer and the powerful doing whats profitable for the worlds biggest company's/industries, leaving a lot of hard working Americans behind. God bless.

I grew up poor and I am now upper middle class with only a high school education. It won't happen overnight. It takes strength from within to take initiative and smarts to get where I'm at. I could resign myself to being average but I am always striving to do better. I've traveled to four continents and know exactly what they are talking about. The US is a special place where you have a "toolbox." My toolbox has made my underprivileged upbringing to making my life fulfilling and more promising. The freedoms we are endowed with and the possibilities are there only if you use your tools...(ie brains). I love my US Citizenship and will NEVER take it for granted. God Bless the USA!

How do you think Pakistan compares to England?
@Shakeel_._Ahmed
@Shakeel_._Ahmed 3 жыл бұрын
@@lifetruthseeking5808 It's a different world. My family in Pakistan live in a rural village in the foothills of the Himalayas. It's so natural, clean, the air is fresher, you drive and you can smell the pine trees. At the same time there is one low quality school, no fire service, police are 30 minutes away by road and if you have a heart attack you're also at least an hour away from medical treatment - 3 hours if it's really serious and you need an operation. I think if you're wealthy life in Pakistan is better, particularly in the big urban cities. You can hire maids, drivers, tutors, private school, private healthcare, all the brands are there in the big cities, life is very good. If you're middle class or working class, life is shit. This is the great thing about the UK. Life for the middle classes or working class might not be awesome, but you can find work, you can pay your bills, schools are free, so is healthcare, university is free up front, the cost in loans which you pay back afterwards if you work and if you earn above a certain threshold. The social safety net provided by the state is so important. The other big thing in the UK is economic opportunity. You can be a software developer in Pakistan and struggle for work, not in the UK though. Most people who try can make it economically in this country without worrying about the next meal. Pakistan is quite disorganised though, or even it's organised chaos. The UK is so much better in that regard, society on the whole is like a well trained dog. People don't litter, we abide by traffic laws, people queue, there is discrimination but it's not brazen and blatent. If a senior politician is travelling in Pakistan the route gets blocked for security - in the UK you can meet them on the bus. It's these little things you appreciate when you don't have them.

I've lived in the Philippines for about two and a half years now and I'm soon moving back to the US. it's very true about noticing little things that a tourist would never see that makes the US a better place to live in many ways. a couple quick examples are little things like the burocractic process is worse than in the US, customer service isn't as good and it's hard to sue people so there are scams everywhere even by legit business, you just don't feel valued as a customer in many places. I was told people always build new houses because they cannot even trust that the old houses were built properly (and this is in a country with earthquakes). that being said at least it's not the government like it is in China.

Just my opinion as a American who lives in Philippines a little each year; both countries have a lot to offer the other does not. There is a reason so many of us Americans go to Philippines to live, and so many Filipinos go to the USA to live. Little things like not being able to drink tap water safely and bring your own toilet paper everywhere in Philippines makes me more grateful every day to be in the USA, the close family relationships and friendships are dearly missed in Mindanao during tourist ban.

True. As a foreigner myself living in the Philippines for some years now, there are things I missed doing in my own country that I can hardly do here. And one thing more, the government here takes long or doesn't at all with regards to addressing issues like reporting a neighbor for using karaoke even when it's already past midnight. That's the reason why my wife and I moved to another city.

Of course the US is a great country to live, (well, as long as you are not poor, or Black, or both.) When people complain about America, it is not because it is an awful place to live; it is because of what the US has been doing to the rest of the world, to poor and weak countries like Afghanistan, Iran, Libya, Syria, Yemen, Cuba, the Banana Republics, etc., etc. For over a century, the US has, either directly or indirectly, created much of the chaos, corruptions, coups, deaths, destruction, instability, miseries, suffering and wars in most of the world, especially in Middle East, South America and Africa,( i.e., the "black" and "brown" countries.) Just look at how Africa's fate has changed after America left: after 9/11, America has mostly withdrawn to focus its attention and military resources on the Middle East. It is during this two-decade absence of America that Africa finally got a chance to develop, grow and prosper in peace. Now Africa has some of the fastest developing and growing nations in the world. Don't you forget about or overlook this: Africa is finally able to crawl out of being a "shithole" ONLY BECAUSE Europe and then America have left the continent in peace (to concentrate and fight in the Middle East.) A huge benefit of living in the US is that, while the US goes abroad to invade, occupy and destroy other countries, America itself remains to be a safe haven that is insulated from all the chaos, destruction and miseries it has been creating in and exporting to the "black" and "brown" countries in the Middle East, South America and Africa. America is able to afford its citizens the opportunities that it has deprived other countries via some very unsavory interference and interventions.

Greed runs too strong man, I spent my lifetime as a manufacturer in California and Arizona. Americans and other folks want cheap goods... many of you guys put many types of our manufacturers under the bus, because you buy cheap, put your brothers & sisters out of a job. Now you want to boycott, well your parents and biz like Walmart have no pledge to American values ! Wonder why because of the love of "stuff"! Cheaper labor, materials etc. ALL OF US ARE CONSUMERS AND EMPLOYEES like having a split personality...buy cheaper than made in USA, and force sourcing overseas, or spend for automation to compete or closing of biz. How we probably can't defend ourselves as previously. CHINA's regime has no intention of having its folks have their ideas of freedom. What did China do when against its own people. Making nice North Korea's defender, Communist China! I traded with Chinese living in Hong Kong, India, Vietnam for some raw materials for 30 plus years, visited China numerous times. Our trade policies often backfire, thinking democracy will come to China as it prospers. 800,000,000 million out of poverty in a generation while USA is almost violently polarized. Talking politics is FREEDOM, being so polite will be destruction in the long run. I was the president of my industry's manufacturing association. I do talk the talk and walk the walk.
