As a Brit I find all the talk of America on the decline highly interesting - you are probably where we were, in what the 1890s? Back then people feared the rise of Argentina. On paper had a lot going for them. That didn't come to much. There has been a view of us being in terminal decline for a good 100 years now. I think it would have been better viewed as a difficult adjustment. Americans would do well not to repeat our insecurities. Changing power does not mean total collapse.
@johntang78523 жыл бұрын
Britain’s adjustment was never “difficult” its legacy has continued to live on through the countries that make up the five eyes alliance and the uk is still an important player in its own right. I think if one nation has better individuals, on average than another, that nation is on its way up and the other is on its way down. It is inexorable probably and can’t be stopped. It doesn’t matter if you try to see things through rose colored glasses, If your individuals are on the decline your nation is on the decline.

I love this video but at 11:40, I would tweak the wording "America is losing its role". America isn't so much losing its role [presumably you're referring to its role as a global hegemon] as much as it is relinquishing this role. Of the last 5 Presidenices, each one has followed a general reduction in America's role overseas. Even under Bush II, the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan demonstrated a rather singularly focused foreign policy. The truth of the matter is, America is just going home. Our overseas troop levels are at their lowest level since WWII and frankly we can get along just fine trading with only Canada, Mexico, UK, Japan, South Korea and to a lesser extent, the EU. We don't need China. They need us. So it'll be interesting to see how this shakes out in the next 20 years.

May I ask if you care to know the fact that the Second Amendment in the USA was historically put in place in the American Constitution, mainly to encourage slaughtering indigenous Native American people, in order to take over their homeland. Moreover, the hidden mega genocide of indigenous Native Americans, and their population in Continents of America 500 yrs ago was around 15 millions, while European population in Europe was around 25 millions. Today, Native Americans population is 15 million, while the European population, in the Continents of America + Europe, is a staggering 'TWO BILLION'! For instance, 200 years ago in the USA, around 3 million Germans came, and now there are 65 millions German-Americans; while 150 years ago, around 2 millions Irish came, and now there are 45 million Irish-Americans. While 500 years ago there were estimated to be 5 to 6 millions indigenous Native Americans in the USA, before Christopher Columbus arrived, today there are only around 2 million indigenous Native Americans survived. Imagine this scenario, if Native American people cross the Atlantic, invade and Colonize Europe, and slaughter most Europeans, and put the remaining populations in tiny reservations, for 500 long years. How would Europeans feel about it? Think about it. All they need is their beloved motherland back, the lands that their ancestors' forebears had lived through thick and thin, endured through hardships and all for generations. Besides, indigenous Native Americans in Colonized lands of Anglo British, Spaniard and others are more of the same. Kill the indigenous Natives and whoever is left, marginalize them and create artificial poverty, once that poverty becomes crime and drinking, the media points to the poor and blames them to continue to stigmatize the 'other' community, scumbags, etc. Amazing fact that Indigenous Natives had built such great civilizations as Mayan, Inca and Aztec without outside help, and all from scratch, and all on their own, since they had been cut off from the rest of the world for twenty thousand years. In other words, they actually are great and proud people. Imagine what it would be like today if Native Americans had possessed some sort of nuclear weapons to defend themselves, and their beloved motherlands from invaders Colonizers? The answer is they would still have their own beloved motherlands, plus their population comparable to that of the European population. In my humble opinion, it's about time to decolonize the Colonized lands, and return it to rightful owners Native American people. Remember, notorious global cardinal crimes the West has committed, and benefited a great deals for centuries, such as Slavery & Colonialism had long been over, why on earth is this another notorious Colonization still lingering on, may I ask?. As a matter of fact, China has made no secret that it would one day help liberate the Continents of America which it sees as rightfully belonging to Indigenous Native American people. 🤔 For plain truths, pls read insightful multi-pages 'Ole Fella' comment at., "China-US tensions: A closer look at the Five-Eyes intelligence partnership / CGTN"

Great interview! Random fact, like Matt, my college freshman year roommate was an American Chinese (culturally, not nationally) who was from the far Northeast (i.e. Maine). Obviously, China as a collective, not as the CCP, has so much potential for "Soft Power" through its incredibly rich culture and history. For instance, Hong Kong cinema helped to export martial arts and Chinese/Cantonese Culture globally such as with Bruce Lee, Jackie Chan, Jet Li, and Stephen Chow. I am living proof! However, as the U.K. handed H.K. back to Communist China, the emphasis became about using film for obvious state propaganda rather than universal messaging with impressment of culture. Even with sports, the main reason why Tae Kwon Do became an Olympic Sport and Contemporary Wushu did not is because Communist China has never been truly interested in sharing the knowledge needed to truly succeed in the sport (withholding important rules/training/etc.) while Korea (pre-Civil War as well as South Korea after it) genuinely wanted the sport for the world rather than keeping it as a medal-hogging projection of national domination. Instead, Communist China's "Soft Power" in practice has been a passive aggressive form of warfare, such as feeding the growing self-hatred among Americans (i.e. everyone is bigot!) and continuing the undermining of social divisions in rival nations as well as bribing foreign politicians (i.e. Canada, U.S.), corporate (i.e. demanding intellectual property in order to do business in China), and media figures. Regarding the Mainland China's military, history shows that their numbers advantage has worked to its significant advantage at the peak of its centralized dynastic powers while often times suffering horrific casualties because the central government (even more so than those of other nations because it has so many people) viewed its people's lives so expendably.

What Americans don't understand is that these corporations are obligated to the CCP. If you do business in China, you must obey the CCP. China has something called "military fusion" which means these corporations (companies like Wal-Mart, or Disney) are essentially assets of the PRC. China doesn't see the US as a competitor. China views the US, as well as many other nations, as enemies. I would encourage anyone reading this to look up Jin Canrongs leaked outline. The US is under attack by China, and people don't recognize it. Also, China's military is a lot more capable than this video makes it seem. China's military not only has a massive navy, they also own Amazon and Disney.

The conservatives think that we should just move all our manufacturing and production back to the US but don’t realize it’s too late and the production pipelines are already globalized. The liberals think that we can just keep on out-innovating China through technological means but don’t realize that any innovation can be stolen or reverse-engineered. @Skypie613 жыл бұрын
You hit the nail on the head Fly. IMO, China uses money to obtain its presumed power. But it is also its weakness. Take away the money in China, and there is nothing remaining. Culture, absolutely, but you cannot monetize Culture on the same level as manufacturing. The people of China will revolt when money starts to decrease, which is what happened in the Baltic & Satellite USSR. Look at the current battle with Australia. 60% of China's electricity comes from coal. Australia is China's largest coal supplier. But due to Covid origin finger pointing, China placed a Coal/trade embargo on Australia imports. Ripple effect, power outages are occurring throughout China for the past 12-months and manufacturing has decreased 30-40% cause the electricity is being conserved/partitioned to get thru this crisis. Sure, Chinese one-voiced media projects prosperity & success, all the time, but dig a little deeper and hear the voices of the courageous Chinese citizens telling the truth...Chinese people are amazing when you get away from their politics, especially dustanced from Beijing. But its difficult to break thru the brainwash & fear they've endured with modern coveted materialustic government leaders who have zero tolerance for opposition to the regime...

I spent 6 months in the U.S. during my studies. I can compare my country Serbia, which is much poorer. In the U.S. housing costs are much higher, everyone is heavily in debt, and in order to live a better life you often have to work two jobs. There is no paid leave, medical services are expensive, as are school fees. In Serbia, housing is much cheaper, there is universal health care, there are plenty of places at state-financed faculties, but the tuition fees are also much cheaper. Vacations are long, and people work much less than in the US. but they also live more modestly. So the standard in the U.S. it comes with a lot of effort, it's not like in Scandinavia, which has a much higher standard, with less work.
@jacobmasters438 Жыл бұрын
With over 300 million citizens one would assume that problems arise. The biggest mistake the U.S. has made and continues to make, is spending money WE do not have. Currently the debt per person is around $97,000.00. The debt per taxpayer is a staggering $253,000.00. How the federal government thinks it can continue to put this burden on the citizens without drastic consequences is beyond me. At what point will the debt bubble burst? The past two years have been exceptionally harsh globally and we all know why. If people are still losing jobs in a year or two, it may very well be because of America not doing so great. But the almost complete shut down of certain industries (air travel, hospitality, tourism…) for such a long time - while people still have to eat - didn’t only happen in America, of course.

I think America still has the opportunity to be the leading state in the world but you need to move away from extreme capitalism. You need to focus on dragging up the quality of life for the Americans at the bottom, rather than just pushing up the people at the top. You also need to support other nations around the world especially those around you. Take jobs away from China, setup in Latin America - it generates jobs, reduces crime, slows down immigration, and at the same time lets American businesses benefit from cheap labour. Also you need to focus on a green tech revolution, generate high tech jobs, train Americans to do those jobs, all whilst reducing your reliance on Arab oil. You also need to consider competing with the OBOR project. Invest in the same countries without all the traditional American "strings attached" policy. Benefit from the cheap labour, export your brands around the world, it'll force governments around the world to keep a balance, as opposed to falling into the China basket.

only way america loses its top dawg status, is if china offered a better "american life". but it can't offer that, because china man only smart in math and have no time to enjoy anything but math and labor. anything china created that is "cool" ? nope. id rather play with a mexican jumping bean out of a 7-11 , than a "chinese built" robot dog or some stupid shit like that.

@@ChickenMcThiccken tik tok?? Go look up Chinese inventions on wiki and educate yourself. China doesnt need immigrants or wants immigrants unlike Amerikkka. They have 1.4 billion to feed already

One important thing you missed. The US is the greatest nation on earth to innovate. This will continue to drive the US economy for decades.

Err, no. Asia's where the innovation is going on. And China's going to take over from the Russians in being first in advances in Space.

LOL. Canadian KZbinr Daniel Dumbrill just uploaded a video to rip apart racist China hater Matt Laowhy86. Truth hurts. kzbin.info/www/bejne/oHTOfIt5eJidqZI

@@antiwarantipoverty7908 That literally makes no sense. The dude is married to a Chinese woman and they have a child together... but, he's "racist". Sounds like typical Leftist BS where they like to call anyone they don't like Racist or some other Leftist buzzword.

I realize that competing with 4,255 comments on this video means that no one will ever read this, but I've been binging Peter's videos for a couple of weeks now. And he frequently mentions how he doesn't intentionally get into politics. It's now 2024; we've been through government shenanigans involving Covid. The quote I've heard a lot over the past four years has been, "just because you don't take an interest in politics doesn't mean politics doesn't take an interest in you." I feel like quote would be a perfect summary of the discussion in this video.
