We have casino gambling in Illinois. We have since the 90's. Started as riverboat gambling, but now much is land based.

Thank you for showing the Central Valley farming communities. You are correct that farm kids, like me, are desperate to leave the farm towns. Left for college and now living in San Diego. I have lived in Northern, Central, and Southern California. The diversity of people and landscape is incredible and I could never leave this state. Whenever you are in San Diego, you and your lovely wife will have a place to stay, and a tour guide. It would be my pleasure!

Doing the Cali coast has been on my bucket list for a while. Turning 50 soon. Your video convinced me I need to do this soon! Really enjoying your videos. Peter I found you in my KZbin feed as a result of other vloggers taking breaks because of coronavirus. I like your style of the historical perspective and taking in the landscapes. A lot of the vloggers try to be funny and it is more about them at times. Cool stuff!

I know this comment is 3 years old, so I hope you did indeed go on your California coast trip! I’ve driven Highway 1 from Redding all the way down to Los Angeles before, an absolutely breathtakingly beautiful drive. I didn’t grow up in California but I’ve lived along the coast for 6 years now in Northern Cali and I will be forever appreciative of the incredible natural beauty here

Thank you both for showing a small part of the central coast. Hope everyone has a wonderful week and coming weekend. Sending love and hugs from the central coast of Cali.

The poison oak rings so true with me. I was born and raised in the San Joaquin Valley, Visalia to be exact. My Grandmother lived on the Central Coast in Pismo Beach, every year at Thanksgiving we would go there and my sisters and I would climb all over the hillside in the park across from her house and every year I would come home and spend the Christmas Parade (always the first week after Thanksgiving) with my eyes swelled shut covered in Poison Oak… absolutely No Fun!!! Turns out it had been growing in her yard the whole time too. Darn Gardner!!! 😢

I've lived in both northern California and southern California and like both for different reasons. I noticed that you went from San Francisco to Big Sur. I love Big Sur but you skipped my old home town of Santa Cruz. It has some beautiful places such as Boulder Creek and some great beaches. There's also the Boardwalk that was built in the early 1900s and the train that goes from the mountains to the beach. I really enjoy your videos. Maybe you'll check out Santa Cruz sometime.

For an italian traveller, more that 60 times in USA, you videos are a blessing. Even now, when travelling across the pond is not possible, I feel like being once again in that beloved country. Apropos of gambling, is it possible that, at state level, the only places where it's fully legal are Nevada and Louisiana? All the other places, besides indian reservations, have local and limited permissions. I know for example Central City in Colorado

Few people know that you actually need fire or new redwoods will not grow. My grandfather used to maintain 100 acres of them near Santa Cruz. I thought he was just having fun with his flame thrower. Turns out it had a purpose. :) It also got ride of poison oak so that is an added bonus

I lived 45 minutes away from Yosemite. In Sonora, Columbia and across the river in Angel's Camp. Beautiful area. Columbia is an old Gold Mining town. Angel's Camp was once home to Samuel Clemons/ Mark Twain. Also an old mining town. Home of the Calaverous Jumping Frog contest. Go check those places out. Bear Valley, Utica Resivor, Union and Spicer lake. Also Alpine is beautiful. On Hwy 4 heading east. That whole drive is AMAZING!!! If you take it all the way you go to Markleyville and the 395. Hot spring above Markleyville. Take 395 south to June lake, Mammoth lake all the way to the desert.

About the casinos. LI NY has one, off the res, pretty far from it but I believe it's still owned by Shinocock res. Also, there is ALOT of electronic machines in VA now - even at 711 and gas stations - and there are competing casinos trying to open up near Richmond.

I have been watching your NorCal adventures. Looks like you were at Tanaya Lake and the trail head to Clouds Rest. A nicer hike and less crowded compared to Half Dome. Mt. Whitney and Mt. Langley are some of our favorite hikes. Aloha Lake in the Desolation Wilderness is another great one. Looks like you will be visiting Bode next. Home for the last 25 years is a few miles north of the Mystery Spot in Santa Cruz. I left India for England in 1974. My Indian experience is vastly different from yours and only went back twice. I met my Irish wife in England. We came to the US in 1980 and spent the next 15 years in Tucson. Good luck on your travels. Umesh

The Central Valley might look a bit boring as an tourist. But if you spend more time there, you will find out that there are interesting stories and people. Also a lot of different cultures and an Ag industry what is missrepresent by the media. The bigger cities like Stockton, Modesto Turlock, Fresno, Visalia, and Bakersfield are good places to live. Maybe a good idea for an new documentary series?
@pcatful3 ай бұрын
Yes most of the water in the Central Valley comes from the Sierra Nevada, even if you include the Sacramento Valley, where much comes from up around Shasta. And vice-versa I’d say. Most of the Sierra water flows to the Central Valley-to be divided for many uses, including pumping to L.A. Much less of the Sierra Nevada water flows to the eastern side.\-where a lot of it is ALSO pumped to L.A.
