It won't be quite the blessing that it appears to be on the surface. Remember what the 2008 housing "problem" did to the economy and the ability to borrow to buy a cheap home? This will be worse as it's going to be more than just the auto industry that has a "reset".
@YouTh3r32 сағат бұрын
2025 is too early for a car crash. And the price won't go back to pre-pandemic level. Manufactures are already producing less cars and hope to maintain the inventory to demand ratio. Also, you would need a big mass layoffs in order for a huge amount of people to fall behind their auto loan payments. When 1 out of 6 people you know is jobless, then yeah..things will be different

Preach! In the same vein, everyone on food stamps drives up the price of groceries.
@American-Motors-Corporation2 сағат бұрын
@dustinmiller2775 well it's it's more so the government's expansion of the program for the purpose of bailing out/propping up the retailers that caused prices to go up even last decade you see we've been on an inflationary trajectory for a very long time. So the food stamp program made it go up not the food stamp card holders you need to check yourself effective immediately for bullshit and I'm not trying to insult you it's simply that this is the crap they want you to believe they want you to be too stupid to follow the money. Understand that the food stamp card holder is nothing more than an unofficial courier for the government their job is to take this many and pass it out to the big and small businesses that sell food and/or food stuffs it's the same reason you can go to a gas station and buy a fucking DiGiorno pizza in the middle of the night so you can blame the food stamp card holders but that's the wrong people to blame blame the government who expanded the program as a means of propping up / bailing out retail given is that the grocery section has basically carried the rest of the store no matter the format of store for 15 years. I should know is a retail manager with 25 years of experience I can certainly tell you that there's no way they lamped through last decade not in hot pursuit of the food stamp funds because they've all been in hot pursuit after the welfare money.. Basically the same thing with rent metropolitan / section 8 housing basically the landlord's whether their companies conglomerates or independent landlords whatever the bottom line amount the government is willing to pay and that particular area city whatever will that happens to be the cheapest going rate nobody's going to really price below that. But of course why don't you think about all of the middle class managers that work in the leasing offices of the apartment complex is that by the way makes millions of dollars a month off of welfare funds and that's exactly how they're paying those middle class managers the same with the department store and or the dedicated grocery store yeah you got a lot of middle class people that's earning their living via because of the fucking welfare funds you idiots!!! but they don't want you to know that instead they want you to waggle your finger and be a middle class dickwagger and act like you're oh so special except you're not because just about every fucking job no matter the profession no matter the company no matter what the companies do they've got government contracts somewhere they're all on welfare! Meaning there's a large amount of the middle class that's on welfare even if it's in a roundabout long way and they don't even know it.
@American-Motors-Corporation2 сағат бұрын
@@AugustusOmega Yes it is caused by overspending it's called deficit spending every time the house of representatives spends money that we don't have and we have to basically print money because that's effectively what they are ordering is the creation of money then that actually causes inflation to go up so the majority of inflation actually arises out of the house of representatives which for very long time is actually been republican-controlled they also funded Obamacare that they said they didn't want! NEXT!

I don't have any vehicle payments, paid off my mortgage, no credit card debt, working on hitting six-figures of available cash on hand. It's going to take a fire-sale before I even think about replacing or upgrading one of my vehicles. My "newest" vehicle is now 11 years old and I have no desire to write a check for another vehicle. I plan on early retirement in the next six years. My next slightly used vehicle will be what I plan to carry me through early retirement to my regular retirement kicking in, maybe even beyond that if it holds up. I make a good living and used to get bored with my vehicles. I would on average trade one of them in each year for something different. 2020's events made me reevaluate what was really important in life, my last "new to me" vehicle was 2018 and I'm working on moving down from six vehicles to two. When I used to spend all my money it was easy to go into debt to spend on vehicles, I only had to think of the monthly payment. Now, with no debt and savings to the point where I could write a check and buy a vehicle with no loan, I find it hard to even contemplate pulling from my savings to buy something, I cringe at just the thought where in the past I would have just signed for a loan without a second thought. The change in mindset is something I never saw coming when I became debt free.

Well you know like if the used car market was to crash out I mean we're talking about how it would be possible to go down to the local car lot and all the sudden pick yourself up a running drivable vehicle for 1500 to $2,200 again I mean if we could see a used car market where you could literally buy something that cheap then we're going to go back to what the previous trouble was and that is simply the biggest competition that new cars have is literally used cars. The only real reason why a lot of people stupidly paid the extreme prices for brand new cars was because in some areas and/or on some lots Yes they had trouble getting used cars so you were kind of stuck with the new car offerings but in most cases I would say that it was because the used car price went up to being that of half of the new car price and the car payment was not much cheaper so here's the bitch I mean if you're going to spend you know 5,600 bucks on a car that's say 5 to 8 years old and you're still going to end up paying $30,000 for this vehicle when you could buy the brand new one for say 60,000 and then you're adjusted car payment would be perhaps $800 otherwise if you're credit is good and they're going to work some sort of credit deal or something then you might only have to pay $150 more I mean it's a no-brainer by the new car and that's I think what forced a lot of people into that and then in other cases yeah the car that they were looking for if they wanted something specific they couldn't get it any used model they had to go with the new one but then again a lot of these people were people with money to some degree I mean they obviously had money to put down they had at least the jobs that would more than support the loan or seemingly so. I mean are there peoples that make less than $35,000 a year that are caught up in this yeah I think they are they're just at a cheaper price than the person that makes 40 or more so the person that makes 40 grand or more a year and they've quite possibly went out and bought the $30,000 car whereas the person that makes you know less than $35,000 well you know they got stuck with the six to $8,000 car and in some cases they were able to swing the 10 or 13,000 car The truth of it is if you were able to find a car that was 6 to $8,000 that was in decent shape you actually still got a bargain because a lot of what was left particularly on the used lot was shit a lot of them might have looked good in many ways but if you got under it and looked it was arrested out shit box.

Well any bubble works that way on the value of the thing versus the amount that is owed on the loan. I mean you know let's say everybody on both sides of your street agree that one of your neighbors' house is worth 200 million dollars you all agree that it's worth $200 million dollars now go find somebody on the outside of that neighborhood that would agree with this... If for whatever reason you did manage to find a lot of people let's say the next 12 neighborhoods and either direction did agreed that the neighbor's house is worth 200 million dollars then you've just created a bubble market but let's say in 6 weeks more and more people decide it's not worth 200 million dollars that they might then decide it's worth 150 million dollars so it loses 50 million in value except it was never worth 200 million to begin with so the loss is fictional because the price that was decided via the bubble price was also fictional so it's not really a correction it's more so that it was never meant to be valued at that to begin with. No there is such a thing as pricing something a little too high but not exactly straight up manufacturing a bullshit price it's just simply you pick a price you put it on the product and if somebody happens to pay it well then now you say that's what it's worth but that price though it's higher than the real value it is not exuberantly higher you know it may only be a couple $3,000 difference which okay so that's sort of competition in the town because everybody would know who the more expensive car dealer is in town and so you would shop around elsewhere trying to get a better deal That's good for business it's good that perhaps one dealership whether he's new or used or deals with both is a little higher than one or two of the other dealerships in the area because that automatically sends business to the other dealerships I mean you have people that are particular they may even be snobs that they believe in shopping at the higher price dealership they think they're getting something you have everyone else who's on a strict budget who just needs a decent car at a decent price they don't really give a shit about any of the other funny stuff at the dealership. But there is such a thing as going a little above that two or $3,000 threshold and then eventually you will have to correct that price once that car sets there for x amount of time and you realize nobody's going to buy it at that price and you've already probably turned away 5 to 10 customers yeah you're going to have to rethink that price that should happens all the time That's just part of normal business but this bullshit where you're taking a car that in all reality is worth brand new hardly 15 to 18,000 and you're trying to stick a price tag of 45 to $50,000 on it okay that was already detrimental even back in the '90s when they were doing that this bubble has been around for a while but now when you're taking the overvalued price and doubling it to 80 to $100,000 that's completely insane That's fictional prices that's delusional idiots I think they just want to see who's going to pay that price and unfortunately there's morons that will but honestly I think that we can think our lucky stars that there's not that many of those morons there was enough of them for a while at least to sustain these stupid prices but now the industry is going to have to come off of its overpriced high horse they're yeah it's not really a correction it's just simply the prices should have never been up there to begin with.

Okay so where are these price drops because you can hop on KZbin and watch videos everyday that are made every day with people all over the nation going to car lots pointing out the ridiculous amount of money and of course markup that's on these cars... As far as the used car market goes well yeah I mean I haven't seen any major price drops you know before the 2020 bullshit it was possible to go to even a name brand dealership and find a used car granted it probably needed work but you could find one for $800 to maybe $1,500 now for the same type of piece of shit it's the cheapest they're demanding you know $2,500 a decent car that used to cost $2,500 to 3500 well those are now priced at like $5,500 to 6500 if not 8,500 some of that is going to be fluid based on the area as well as perhaps the model of car. I mean for years in decades it was always sad that when you buy a brand new car and you drive it off the lot it immediately loses $5,000 in value on the other hand this was even technically applied to used cars so you know with rising inflation and or the inflation levels that we're currently out that means that a new car has to be losing 15 to $20,000 when you drive it off the lot so it's already underwater of course a lot of people want to talk about the Kelley Blue book value well Kelley Blue book is not for you the consumer that is for the dealership just know that right now.

Show me a time when dealerships price the car right at what the manufacturer suggested because that never happened there is what the manufacturer suggests but more times than not that suggested price is kept internal between the manufacturer and the dealer most of the time the public is not aware of that price certain cars yes so it's like back when AMC made the Pacer or they made the gremlin or perhaps the hornet yeah they would take out full-blown catalog ads and this was the base price and Chevy did the same thing with a Vega forward to the same thing with pinto it does happen but here's the problem when you read those articles or you see this advertisements and then you trot on down to the dealer thinking you're going to get the car for that price well you're going to be met with a guy that says bullshit due to dealer markup the base price is this in this town if they have an agreement that's strictly says they have to offer that price then where they get you is all the other shit they try to sell you so if you turn down the trim packages that are available if you turn down certain transmissions if you turn down the more powerful engine if you turn down whatever interior Yes it is possible to get that base price if they have a contract with the manufacturer that clearly states they have to honor that price if they do not have a contract that says they have to honor that price then they're not going to honor that price they're going to have a markup and then they are only going to be willing to be talk down to a certain point so you're still paying a marked up price 99% of the time. And by the way this is not unique to cars this happens with four wheelers this happens with motorcycles dirt bikes those side by sides that everybody's crazy about I mean anything with the damn motor and wheels is basically subjected to this frankly a lot of merchandise is subjected to this I mean you do have suggested retail prices on a lot of things but the key word is suggested and that's because they don't always have a contract with said retailer or dealership to actually enforce that that dealer would have to charge that price that's advertised and the dealer gets out of it by saying right but we didn't advertise that the bigger company did and we do not have a contract that holds us to that price so it's not false advertising on our end.

Well and then this is the thing You're a compiling data and or you're looking at a data set that goes from at least 21 but it probably also counts 20/20 through at least what 22 so you're looking at something that is it's very bare minimum two and three years old and then of course you're comparing that to today over at the auction houses and saying that the prices are less okay yeah it's going to show that data and the reason being is because remember those cars that they auctioned off long ago they're gone and those cars were probably more so the cream of the crop meaning what they have coming through the door at the auction houses now simply just aren't worth the value that they know that they can't really get that money out of this cars they're probably still getting an inflated price so don't kid yourself but they're not necessarily able to get the same price that they once got for all these other better models. In other words people bought the better cars long time ago and those cars have not reentered the used market to show up on the auction lot so the cars that are showing up on the auction lot are probably vehicles that are worth less and they're again even though they may be able to inflate the price they're not inflating the price half as much as what they did on the previous round of vehicles from two and three years ago in other words they cleared out that inventory and everybody who wanted a car bought one and they're hanging on to it so the cars that are trickling in now our cars that people don't have a problem of getting rid of simply because they probably need a lot of stuff.

Well that depends I mean if the car is mechanically sound and it's not nickel and diming you, and let's say you've got it nearly paid off so you paid for example 5,000 bucks you only owe $2,000 on it then yeah I would recommend sticking with it there is no need to trade that, that that would be stupid. But on the other hand if it's a car you financed for $30,000 and you still owe $20,000 on it and it's starting to nickel and dime you well you probably going to have to consider trading it in the bad part is you're going to have the price of the other car added to what you already up which that alone would probably dictate that most people really can't do that that you're basically stuck with what you have so if you fucked up and bought a piece of shit you're basically stuck with it until it's paid off or until you get into that two or three grand threshold of it being paid off and that's going to take some time so I would say that a lot of people still have roughly 3 years before they're ever really going to be able to do anything and of course buy that time the value of that car particularly if it is a known piece of shit they're not going to give you anything for it. So I would say the mid-range position on this is if you oh $8,000 on a car that you would have had financed for say 13,000 and it's starting to shake rattle and roll then if you traded it in you would lose money but you wouldn't lose the significant amount of money because what you would save in terms of buying a better vehicle on repair over time it would make up the difference especially if you considered the money you may have already shit out for repairs and I would say if you've owned the car for 3 years it's quite possible that you have over 3,500 in the car and some of that could even consist of basic tune-ups. So I mean you don't want a situation to where you know you bought a car and it has a known fault yours just hasn't done it yet but if it does you're aware that that known fault is going to cost say $4,000 to fix could be a timing chain then yeah you're going to want to get rid of that car even if you owe $20,000 on that car you don't want a timing chain problem because chances are it'll take out the head if it's an interference engine it will bend valves and everything else You're going to have to have the top end of the engine redone so then you're basically looking at a $10,000 problem so you're actually further ahead to dump the vehicle cut your losses get something cheaper yeah it's going to add to your overall debt but you also won't have the problem of a potential $10,000 repair and that problem could strike tomorrow and yet you still owe $20,000 on the car I mean basically everywhere is manufacturing junk and this is the problem when we continuously buy junk they get to continue manufacturing junk and we get stuck with huge shit bills for repair while at the same time we owe exuberant amounts of money on these cars I personally don't but unfortunately a lot of society does. Now on the other hand you might have to consider basic maintenance and repair so you know in a given year depends on how much you drive you might have tires if the vehicle calls for a specific size or a specific kind of tire okay that's something that could cost more not only today but in the future so what are you currently paying for those tires every year if not every other year well I mean it depends if it's $300 a set that's not a terrible price that's actually pretty reasonable for tires especially if it's a pickup truck or an SUV of any kind. But if the tires or something specific that the manufacturer recommends and you don't want to go against what the manufacturer recommends then those tires might cost you $600 to set so you've got automatically 600 bucks going out the door every year or perhaps every other year probably more like every other year if you're a fanatic about your tires but some of that is if you travel a lot. I would say most people probably don't go buy tires but every 4 to 5 years because most people drive what 6 to 10 mi back and forth to work at the most you might have a commute of 60 mi a day so every two days you do 120 mi yeah you're going to put some tires on that vehicle eventually but you could probably make it go for a good 3 years. Even standard maintenance like brakes are costing more and more money today and I just the break parts and a lot of cars you can't really do a brake job without telling the computer that you've done one otherwise the fucker won't run so then you got to take it to a garage to have the brake stud a lot of cars you can't really do that yourself unless you have the proper scan tools with the proper software and those devices are like 5,000 bucks so that's part of the reason why the garage soaks you for a basic brake job what used to cost with parts and labor about 200 bucks can now on a lot of cars run you four and $500 so how often do you have to put brakes on well it depends I guess on your driving habits but two years is a good standard number so every two years you might have to shit out 500 bucks on top of you know say maybe an average of like $400 on tires so you're in this thing 900 bucks every two years so ownership of the car just between brakes and tires is going to cost you $1,800 every 4 years spread out across four years I suppose that's technically not bad but then again that would depend on your budget the month that these repairs need to be done I suppose you could do the tires in the spring and or you could do them in the late fall if you're also driving in the winter you could schedule it in a month maybe you receive a bonus tax refund time is always a good time to fix cars and to do maintenance. I mean where there's a will there's a way that I'm saying you know if tires and brakes are going to cost you you know 1800 bucks every 4 years you know 900 bucks a year I mean what else will you have to do and especially if the car has known faults which that's another thing you should always call a trusted mechanic before you buy a car you should always on the test drive take that to a mechanic and let them look it over see if there's anything obvious you should at the very least call the mechanic and ask them what they think about this brand and model of car because if it's a straight piece of shit they'll tell you they'll tell you do not buy it they've got transmission problems do not buy it they have head problems radiator problems etc I've dodged lots of bullets by talking to my mechanic. Because the only maintenance that I really honestly care to do to a car is brakes when needed and tires front ends do go bad so you'll have to allocate some allowance for that but if the car doesn't have any known faults usually that means the front ends are pretty solid so you can generally get by running on that for 5 to 10 years before you have to do any front end work if it's an older car like I have which is an 87 Chevy Camaro it's a good idea to buy a grease gun and grease it every now and again it's got grease fittings and a lot of that you can do yourself and the good news is it doesn't have much of a fucking computer in it so it's not going to prohibit me from doing that I recommend buying older cars but then again order cars are becoming in short supply and then some of what's available is rusted and isn't worth buy I mean if you're buying it to go back and forth to work you're not going to really have time to put it in the shop and throw money at it or even if you did the work yourself you're not going to have time to sit there and fabricate everything and rebuild it if you buy it as a project with the concept of at some point getting rid of the car payment that you currently have and you're going to fix it up over the winter or something like that and then you're going to sell the new car for what's owed on the loan to pay it off and get out from underneath it well hey that's a good strategy if you can pull it off. Whether or not the car is old I would suggest look around on the Facebook selling walls somebody's always got a car for sale I would recommend the early to mid 2000s Ford focuses you can get them in a sedan configuration or you can get them in a hatchback and if you can drive a manual trans there are a lot of fun otherwise get yourself an automatic but I would look around for one of those because they're one of the cheapest cars to fix up and they're good running vehicles The most you might have to do is a bit of front end work to it.
