Let me explain something: People here keeps saying these women are tall compared to average women. You have to understand that runway models are usually around 1.80 (5’11 for my americans) and it’s very rare a model shorter than 1.75 (5’9) even gets CASTED for a runway show. In modeling in general, 5’7 is considered SHORT. We’re talking about modeling not the real world. Modeling is a job with certain physical requirements. Yes they are average for normal women but for modeling they are almost midgets

5.8 is quite average height for a girl or maybe slightly above average at Max not very tall at all. Starter tall for women would be somewhere around 5.10 I think. The average height for women in the Netherlands is only 5.7" to 5.8".

A lot of men there are shorter than some of these short Western models, as in those men are under 5'4 or 5'3. Also in Vietnam, Thailand etc, there are lots of smaller women under 5'4, 5'3. And Japan too has larger numbers of short people too, taller on average than Filipinos but shorter than in Korea and China. In Korea and China you can see the height difference between each generation - the younger generations are taller than the one before them. Among the elderly there are a lot of short people. The taller ones seem to come from northerly areas. China has many minority groups of people so there's quite a lot of variation, and witj a population that huge you'll find many more taller folks.

Growing up with type 1 diabetes, I was asked to hide it cos ppl would stare when I took my shots and was bullied by kids at school when they found out I was diabetic. Wasn’t allowed to do sports in case my sugars drop too low etc etc. your life is never really normal when you have a chronic illness as a child and type 1 generally affects children, so it is nice to see ppl in different fields doing life with it, this isn’t a black mermaid issue. Think of Paralympic sports, it gives hope that you can too, when you see others do it. Stop barking up the wrong tree.

That 5'7 is probably a bit of an exaggeration. Models and agencies would do it all the time and add a little bit or take a little bit off measurements on their cards. Height, weight. It's not like the people at the castings would get out a tape measure and carefully check. Lots of other people who have actually seen Moss in person and also comparing her to others of known heights, they've said she is shorter than that.

I remember going to London to a modelling agency in my teens. All the way from Liverpool 15 years old, 4 hour train journey. Didn't tell tge parents. I was half an inch too small. I was 5ft 6 half. 😅 I was bullied in school alot, and I just wanted to be a cat walk model. They said I could do magazine modelling. And I said naaaaa 😊 41 years later this brought a good memory 😊

I was recruited since I was 15/16 back in the 00’s with a few major agencies…I remember the exact words were that it was a shame I only got to 5’7. I was naturally really skinny and have high cheek bones. Even for commercial modeling males need to be 5’10. They told me to pursue acting 😢

Hailey B. is not petite. Her height is the minimum to become a runway model without the need to use the term ‘petite.’ She is a good 170 cm with very well toned body as an ex professional ballerina . I can add that Cate Moss was one of the shortest runway models being 170cm; however her general look, beauty, attractiveness, being so proportionate and having some of the most unique facial features has gained her all the popularity, and she is not short. She is just not as tall as many other runway models , and, being that tall she became a Brand Name and she reached the popularity as a supreme model, a status that many much taller models never achieved in their modeling career.

It differs based on a country. In my country, yes. Even the average height for adult men is 5'7-5'9. I'm only 5'1 and my brothers were between 5'5-5'7 😅😅 It's very very rare to see 6ft+ tall local men and rare to see 5'5 local women in my country
